I have a pair from River Island that does this. I suspect it's just cheap materials. Also, it helps if you don't wash your jeans too often. Unless they get dirty, there really isn't any reason to wash denim and the jeans stay broken in much better without all the washing and the popping sorta goes away.

stiff denim/seams in the crotch. honestly you'd be better off washing them if this is of more concern to you than their color, as that would degrade/soften the fibers. it should go away slowly as you break them in and they soften on their own.
