You pretty much just have to hop doctors until one gives you a script. I kind of want to get adderall because I have low blood pressure and (probably have) ADHD, but I'm worried about becoming dependent. Plus when I had to take oxy after a surgery that stuff made me feel horrible even with taking one or half a pill, my body doesn't seem to do well with meds.

Adderall is fucking awesome. Even 20mg a day (10 when I get up, 10 at noon) makes a huge difference in my mood, productivity and appetite.

Downsides: I have to drink a lot of water when I'm using it so I get up to pee like 5-6 times a day. Also I get short-tempered when idiots try to interrupt what I'm doing.

Just to be scientific, since there was all this hype about nootropics for a while I tried various doses of Modafinil for a few days instead. If Adderall is a 10, Moda is a 3 and coffee is a 1.

Just don't use it constantly. Take days off. Increase your dosage only when you really need to. Otherwise you'll build a tolerance and the euphoria effect will diminish.

The problem you have is that your guess as to how to acquire it (which you have not done yourself) isn't that simple. Your GP might give you 1 month and then send you to a psych for referral to cover his ass. Or you might have to go in for testing. Or you might have to pay an out-of-network shrink $1,200 for their screening and assessment. I know people who have experienced each of these things. My own doc was the first case, and I was lucky, the psych referral only cost me $150 and I only have to go back every 2 months to monitor the dosage.

In the US, at least, you can't always just tell your doc "I have trouble concentrating" and get a prescription to take a scheduled 2 controlled substance like amphetamines. Especially if you're a young person.

just picked up some concerta from a friend with a script for the first time in 2 years basically. Its not great but it helps with exhaustion i have. I was a speed freak all through high school from a friend with addy script. honestly. i wasted it cos i just used it to pick up chicks and talk to people instead of studying/getting good grades. thats what i get for having social anxiety tho. also microdosed on LSD (in retrospect i was actually 90% likely buying DOM or some phenethylamine). i had a brief summer of love during the year between high school and uni where i tried as many psychedelics and dissociatives as i could and picked up a lot of dirty shit from clubs and raves. uni i had to tone it down, then i tried heroin and alcohol for a while, which ended up disastrously, currenly in PAWS with dope (hence exhaustion and no motivation)

What I'm doing is reading a play and recording myself. I feel really fucking stupid doing it, but I'm hoping that if I practice several hours a week I should see some improvement in a few weeks. By January I will actually be fun to have a conversation with, hopefully.

It would be way easier to talk to someone in person but I don't have friends so it's not an option. I gimped myself by being reclusive for so many years.

The thing is, it's not about being friendly. Even if I really like someone they still think I'm cold, mean, and aloof. That's just how I act normally without trying. After a lot of constant effort the new acting behavior will become automatic.

If it seems impossible or dumb, I just remember how I had really bad anterior pelvic tilt two years ago, and then I started trying to fix it. It used to be that if I literally had to think about my posture every minute I wasn't lying down. Now it's better than most people's and my chest sticks out farther than my stomach.

That was back when I thought that if I looked good I would instantly get confidence and be able to get girls. It's a never ending struggle...

I got diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed adderall a year ago when I was struggling a lot in college. I only ended up only getting a one month prescription before I stopped seeing the psychiatrist for logistical reasons.

I find that adderall didn't really help me that much. It suppressed my appetite and made me have to pee often and made me more awake but it didn't give me more motivation or focus. I found myself still procrastinating when I took it.

I would spend the whole week in between class/work dabbing, chain smoking cigarettes, playing videogames, watching tv, and playing guitar. The night before an exam/paper, rather than study etc, I would just rearrange my bedroom 10 times before spending 4 hours masturbating and at 3am finally getting around to getting something down half-assed. Then I got anxious because the paper "isn't finished" and turn nothing in while rationalizing that it will be so good when I get done with it that it will be worth turning in one or two days late. So I skip class that day to go to the library for 8 hours to read all the sources, write and highlight and organize the same notes a million different times, but ultimately coming away with nothing presentable by the time the library closed. So I'd go home and pop another pill and chain smoke more cigs and dab again and rearrange my room, and masturbate, and play video games, and take more notes, etc. By the next morning id still have nothing "worth turning in" so I'd skip that class again. Then I'd have papers due in other classes too so I'd go through the same process with those and before long I was skipping all 5 of my classes and working on 10 different papers at the same time. After about a month of that I had a complete mental breakdown.

Been taking Vyvanse for years because of ADD

Started off on Focalin back in high school.

Vyvanse is the best bet solely for how long it lasts and how much focus you gain although time it correctly because there is a crash period.

I'm on antidepressants too but also self-medicate stimulants to study. Usually you might feel more depression than usual following the comedown. This is just a side effect of self-medicating a drug you really dont need not so much it actually interacting with the antidepressant.
