I am thinking of buying a submariner's/fisherman's/coastal defence jumper. Should I go for cream or navy?

cream if you have brown hair, navy if blond, neither if ginger.

I have an authentic Navy reefer coat that I wear with mine. I went for a navy jumper to try and minimalise the military comparison.

Navy looks good w/ dark hair light skin what are you on about
Cream if you're brown

I've found cream sweaters like that to be significantly more versatile for layering, but I think the other comments on here are equally valid. If you plan to wear it by itself, I'd follow the rules above. If you plan to layer, I'd err on the side of cream.

wtc defense jumpers anyways

The original designation for that design of jumper was Coastal Forces jumpers because they were initially issued for the crew of coastal defence flotilla motor torpedo boats as they had open bridges and so were very cold at night.

So w2c fam?

>>
Why not get both?

You can get the authentic thing on ebay from time to time, or a modern issued version but there's a few sites that sell them new.

http://www.armynnavy.com/catalog/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/4706
http://crystalknitwear.co.uk/nautical-sweaters-c-34_58/submariner-sweater-100-british-wool-jumper-p-100.html

There's also a few fashionable brands that do their own versions:
http://www.northseaclothing.bigcartel.com/product/submariner
http://www.amazon.com/Original-Montgomery-Merino-Submariners-Sweater/dp/B00FJ4KP0M

You don't really see them on the high street too often but with the weather getting colder, they might make an appearence at the higher end establishments or in an army surplus store.

Those are expensive af fam
>>

Of course they're expensive. They're made out of natural wool and in a country where manufacturing is expensive. You can get some cheaper Irish versions, but they're only about £10 less expensive and not as good.
