Hey /fa/,
I'm not a rich person, but I still spend around €3000 per season on clothes, and I enjoy it. I usually shop at luisaviaroma, theCorner, mrPorter, etc. However, I find that their inventory bores me more and more each year. It's always the same, almost always the same designers, mostly the same styles, and sometimes even the same colourways. The only innovative (runway) stuff is almost always dry clean only, and for me this is not an option currently. I feel the multi-billion dollar brands are running out of ideas, but are too greedy still to step down for someone new (like based Margiela did, hallowed be his name).
I moved into a place where I will be living for 2 years only, so I was at IKEA yesterday to shop furniture. The furniture seems solid and is really cheap - and I wondered how great it was that IKEA improves the lives of so many people. At the same time the most famous fashion brands sell boring designs marked up 400%+. I also just watched the documentary on Congolese SAPE and how these people mix African colourways with western-style clothes.
Now to bring the thoughts together: I don't want to wear Italian/French chic for the rest of my life. It's boring, it's cyclical, and brands that jump on the American-popculture bandwagon like Balmain or SLP make me cringe. At the same time, I would love to wear some Congolese inspired clothes, or Indonesian, or something else from all the many cultures and styles around the world. Unfortunately, these people often lack the know-how of European tailoring. Ultimately I would rather invest my €3000 per season with some Third-World clothes manufacturer who can appreciate it more than a multi-billion dollar company.
My question is now: How do I go about this? Are there sites where I can browse small clothes manufacturers? How do we as a community go about this? I'm sure everybody would appreciate more diversity in clothing, and it would even push the price down.

What do you guys think of these? I bought them mostly for a spring/summer shoe. I would likely wear them with beige/white/blues in lightweight materials, +/- sportjacket when appropriate.

Looking for a dark grey/black/navy thick roll neck for winter, any ideas where I can go about looking?
So far I've had a look at Uniqlo - their turtle/roll neck looks okay, but can anyone vouch for the quality?
Also saw this one for £150 on Mr Porter from Oliver Spencer that looks good quality.
Reiss had some nice looking ones but they cost > £100 and have partial % acrylic (come on).
Ideally looking to drop less than £200 and I do quite like classic british/english brands especially (just an autism thing)

Hey /fa/ metalfag reporting in. All I've worn for the past two years is black jeans, ratty sneakers, doc martens, dark grey/ black sweaters,metal band shirt and my patch vest. I think it's time that I update my wardrobe so I can dress like a normalfag when I feel like it or when it would be more appropriate to do so. What do you guys wear on a normal day out that still look fairly fashionable?
