hey /diy/ i dont come here often, never posted

I want to get my dad something he will actually really like for christmas this year. I dont think hes really had a hobby outside of working out, but he's a chemical engineer and he seems to really enjoy repairing appliances around the house.
what can i get him that he can build?

he's dealt with electrical stuff a lot, and most of his job atm is proof reading blueprints if that helps.

Go get free broken appliances from CL.

Really though. If he likes repairing stuff, maybe buy a project car or project tool for him to work on.

Shit like a CNC router or 3d printer. Or if he really likes a certain kind of appliance or gadget. I like repairing old boomboxes.

Whatever you get him, if it's got a metal other than gold, you can engrave shit on it with a 9v battery, salt water, q tip, and vinyl lettering from a craft store.
