How do I build a simple bed? pic related

Get a bunch of 2x6s and use a rafter square to make an appropriately sized rectangle, double up 2x4s at each inside corner for legs, make a ledge around the bottom with furring strip then use 1x4s for the slats.

Get some hardwood 2x4 or 2x6 and make it. Get some thin foam and some sort of upholstery or you can stain the wood to your liking. Google/YouTube it.

I've found the roll up IKEA mattresses to be like the best thing they sell.

I'm not sure I could build a bed that costs less than some of their solid wood shit costs, even just considering material.

I just realized how shameful it was to post that on /diy/ but it's kinda true.

The only time I need to buy a bed is if I move. If I ever get a real house and settle down, maybe I'll make some heirloom tier large furniture, but right now it doesn't make much sense.

Here's some good bed plans. Also, Ikea stuff is decent as long as it's not particleboard or mdf. Both their solid wood and their laminated bent wood/plywood furniture is fairly sturdy (subject to the limitations of primarily being designed so it will flat pack). plywood is as sturdy as regular wood (pretty much), but just not as pretty.
