I bought some acoustic foam almost 2 years ago, however over the time the white foam turned yellow / orange and now I'm stuck with a couple of dozen of said yellow foam.
Why do they turn such colour and is it possible to restore it white or dye it?

maybe they expired

I think foam just does that because it absorbs freon from the air.
If you do paint it, you should ask the guy to add a shot of black, so he'll know you are a pro.

I think painting them would compromise the sound absorption capability.

It's impurities in the plastic. No you can't fix it. Replace it.

probably but honestly if it were me I'd just get some dollar store poster paint. the foam is probably absorbent enough to take on the paint just fine, and shitty poster paint is real thin and watery so it probably won't harden or fill in the foam to an appreciable degree.
Get black foam, it doesn't yellow. Gets a bit Gray if it gets UV, but it doesn't look terrible.

High % hydrogen peroxide + UV light.
Not worth the effort. Foam does that.

It's from exposure to oxygen and there's no way to restore it. Yellowing doesn't affect anything.

Aside from astetics.

I believe you could dye these if you got a big 20 gallon tote, a bucket heater, and some cheap ass RIT dye from walmart for $3.
