Hey /diy/
So I am making soap but i realize i don't have a scale to do measurements. I do however know I have 2 cups of pork fat, so how much lye/water do I need?

"I know" = yep
"I do know" = ok, go on
"I do however know" = ok now. tell me more

>making soap
maybe post this on /pol/?

No, honest to god. And I am unsure of the fat/lye ratio.
>>1237692
Leave me alone. You know what I meant.

2cups of lard is 16 ounces or 410g of oil.
You'll need 5.5oz of water and 57.8g of lye.
Save yourself the chemical burns to your skin (which could happen when you measure wrong) and buy yourself a scale.

Thank you kind sir

So do lye burns leave a cool scar like in Fight Club, or just a painful sting?
>>1237963
It burns and leave an ugly scar, like in real life.

No not correct. For the love of god get a scale and look up the proper ratio if you mess it up best case scenario you ruin your soap. Fun fact tou soap mixture can "explode" getting burning hot fat and lye on your exposed body parts if you use to much lye and the mix heats up to fast.
