Would these take my weight? I'm thinking of screwing them straight into my ceiling joists and using them to attach gymnastic rings.

Like this but into wood
Even if they would, get some screw eyes instead so your stuff won't slip out.
>>1237442
I want them easily removable. I won't be swinging on them anyway, the hook is plenty
Use these, drill a hole through the joist and use big washer. Those have tiny threads and will pull out over time especially as you are going to be bouncing on them.
>>1237467
What are these called?
>>1237470
No idea, I call them "hook bolts", they are on the shelf at my local hardware supplier.
They seem pretty solid
>>1237570
no, and I sure hope those are at least in the joists.
Lol rings my ass! Totaly for a sex swing etc...
>>1237438
If you're not a fat fuck, they'll support your weight hanging from them. However, actually using "gymnastic rings" for even mild activity will apply dynamic loads much higher than your weight alone. Much beefier screws might be enough, but eye bolts with large washers or set into t nuts would be better. And while the ceiling joists will probably hold if they're built properly and you do your part properly, they're not made for this sort of thing. If you're serious about this, reinforce that span.

>I want them easily removable.
Then use screw eyes with carabiners, quick links, or any of the multitude of other secure but easily removable options. This cavalier attitude towards safety doesn't bode well for the project.

>Would these take my weight?
no
allways use HW made thats made for holding people - go for anchor points HW then just use carabinas to hock up your sex sving
>>1237438
I see you have a rope there. If you're planning to use it here, it will probably chafe on the thin metal supporting it. Use thimbles where it will bend over tight-radius things.

What if he's planning to hang

Naw prob some shibari going on...
Like this maybe
>>1237470
clothesline hooks
home depot where I work has them
>>1237467
>drill a hole through the joist
you missed out step 1, obtain a degree in structural engineering.

If you don't have any common sense that could be a good move, otherwise you will do it near the base of a web and everything will be fine.
If you can't guesstimate what can hold what maybe /diy/ isn't the place for you.

Definitely use eye hooks. I almost paralyzed myself hanging a hammock on these. Rope slipped and I fell 4 feet onto a bed frame. I was lucky enough to hit my shoulder blades, probably would've fucked me up good if I took that impact straight to spine. Even hitting where I did I couldn't move for like 30 seconds, dunno if it was because of shock to my spine or what.
>>1238045
>webm of guy suspending himself with a rope around his cock&balls
>>1238514
I have not seen that
>>1238422
>If you can't guesstimate what can hold what maybe /diy/ isn't the place for you.
applying point loads to structures that are not designed to hold them is not fine
if you think its cool to guesstimate with something that worst case will kill you and destroy your property then i don't know where your place is.
even a glance at a span table would help you out.

>4cm screw
~ NO ~
>>1237444
eye bolts you retard. Also dont trust screws with your life.
>>1237570
The gib abuse doesnt bother me. What does is the fact that youre doing gymnastics next to the tv.
