What is a good way to remove paint from wooden cabinets? I bought a place with 70 year old wooden kitchen cabinets and some shitlord painted them yellow at some point. Looks fucking awful. There are at least 2 coats of paint on them. More in some places. I want to get them back down to bare wood and refinish them.

What the fuck is up with your new concrete densifier, is it lithium or what? How do I put your macropoxy without leaving roller marks? I hate using your products but have to when we have to color match company colors.

You've got two common options, sand or use a chemical stripper.

I'd get a chemical stripper. Get some gloves, brush and a scraper. Dip the brush in the stripper and paint a section at a time, wait a few minutes and scrape that shit off. After you get it all off use a coarser grit sandpaper to remove excess and consider using something like denatured alcohol to clean the wood up prior to repainting.

We’ve got a Golden Lighting model “CE G99” halogen machine lamp, similar to the one pictured, on a bridgeport and the light bulb burned out during a momentary power outage in the neighborhood.

How do you get the bulb out and what kinda replacement is needed?

The manufacturer has nothing on their website, though I sent an email to China for what it’s worth.

The machine lamp on my machine kept burning out bulbs, I just installed a chinese LED shop light (1,000+ lumens) above the machine, behind operators head.

pull cord to turn it on, lights up the workspace pretty good.

I've got a couple of Ikea LED reading lamps on my lathe and mill. Incandescent lamps and the vibration of machine tools are just not a good mix.

Hey /diy/, so I had this idea clonkin' in my Noggin for quite some time.
I'm thinking of either upgrading, or adding on some horns to my 2011 F150, but not just any horns, aztec death whistles.
https://youtu.be/I9QuO09z-SI
Thoughts or ideas of how to?

I might buy a horn rig and mounting setup, then just weld/fasten on some of these good ol bad boys, with a small compressor and switch in the cabin of the truck.

>>
Also any thoughts of making it as the sound for a car/home alarm system?
>>
Also say you get a backpack style leaf blower, and mount 50 or so on there, good home defense?

>horn rig and mounting setup

i genuinely love this idea. just make sure the air pressure doesn't destroy the whistles. please post results.

Hello there, I recently invented the Black Beaver Machine, It is designed to replace home made machines by imitating the dimensions and weight of a professional tattoo machine.
The vectors and instruction to make one are completely FREE, you just visit Blackbeavermachine.com and follow the instructions.
It is for practice use only (fruits , artificial skin)
I think it is a cool little proyect that will help you get into the world of tattooing while we help the planet by recycling MDF (if you can find some)

Hey /diy/. I've got this oldschool hooligan jacket that brings back some good ol' feels and memories. The zipper's broken, but i think i know how to fix it. The problem is that the black outer layer (shell) has turned a bit gray. I would really love to restore it to it's original blackness, but do not know how to do it without damaging the inner layer. Any advice?

you have to make a choice there, soak it in black dye to get it blacked

Hey diy need help with some technical electronic stuff. Not my area of expertise. I need to reduce the inrush current on my refrigerator or freezer and a 5000 btu AC. I also would like to reduce the inrush current on a 2 hp motor that opens a large hangar door.
This is so it will run on a 2000 watt inverter.

>>1203219
I did read about hard start capacitor kits and while they are cheap I'm not sure if they reduce current or not. I think they might just reduce how long the surge is.
>>
>>1203221
They just shift the current peak, tried them out at my work and they did fuck all.
We're trying to get inverter motor drives for our compressors
>>
>>1203219
Sounds like what you need is a few soft starters. If you're lucky there are ones made specifically for the motors you're using. If not, it will take some figuring to determine what exactly you'll need.

How many workarounds, quick-fixes, selfmade tools, etc are out there that would sell really well if only the owner would realize their potential?

Have you ever created something that you thought would be useful for others?

That's the thing, you can't sell ingenuity in a box. Self made tools exist for a purpose, which is usually a small, niche one. I always tried to think of automotive tool ideas to sell to Lisle or snap-on, but would it really be worth it to sell my idea wholesale for 6500 dollarydoos?

So I got these two big doors on my garage which have been shedding the original paint from years back little by little. I want to paint them again this summer.

My question is, what would be the least laborous / easiest way to get all this old paint off the doors? Some of it just falls off if you scrape it but some is still stuck on well. I was thinking of using an electronic sander but I only got a small handheld one, any other ideas?

this, but be careful that you don't carve a lot of circles in the wood. if that leaves some stubborn paint then that paint is probably ok to prime and paint over, but you might want to use Zinnser PeelStop primer if you have concerns.

You'll find the best distance to blast it from eventually. Just make sure you let it dry properly before applying anything

I made a thing, and after going at it best I could with steel wool there's still a few rough spots that are matte. Do you guys have any recommendations for polishing up the nooks and crannies on a silver piece?

a) it already looks good. Obviously handmade, that's a plus not a minus.

b) vibratory polishing. A little walnut shell will shine that right up. Maybe some fine rouge in the shell, maybe not. Finish with shell and wax.

Help a poor newbie, pic related is a desk, should I glue it all without worrying about the space between them? I don't have a saw so can't cut them.
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1202541
Glue won't fill the gaps if that's what you're asking. You could glue it up then put several coats of high build poly on top to smooth it out.
>>
sawdust mixed with glue can work if you dont mind spending time jamming it though those empty spaces
>>
Use a countertop epoxy finish or a marine epoxy. Seal the back so it doesn't leak everywhere and pour it on to fill the gaps. Tint the epoxy reddish black if you like.
When it sets, sand smooth and apply your finish of choice.

Whats a good way to fill small insulation gaps? I feel like my room is notably warmer than it should be.

>>
>>1202529
Yes. Put insulation in the gaps.
>>
>>1202529
foam padding or spray foam if you are not picky.
>>
>>1202529
Accoustial foam, while being a form of insulation, had an R value of 0-1. You're never going to keep the place cold using that. You may as well use cardboard and duct tape, at least there wouldn't be gaps.

Yes. Replace the seal.

I was at a party the other night and through drinking and conversation I ended up in a group telling jokes. It was then that I realized that I couldn't recall many jokes on command, and that the ones I could recall weren't for mixed company. At that moment I thought to myself - "It would have been beneficial to have some rehearsed jokes for situations such as this."

What are some other small skills that require a little effort but great benefit when the opportunity presents itself?

>"It would have been beneficial to have some rehearsed jokes for situations such as this."

um, I'd take this one small step at a time, anon. You don't want people inviting you to parties because you are secretly known as the cringe master.
>>
>>1202388
it is always good to have 1 or 2 *good* jokes that you can tell. As long as you have enough self-awareness to realize if you are being a cringemaster like anon said.
>>
>>1202396
also good communication skills in general are invaluable

This is kind of a interior decor, and DIY mix. I have a big window with 3 tri-angle (4ftx20in) sections in my living room. I hate how on stage I feel with the blinds open, but I love to look out of it. I want to make the best of both worlds. Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm thinking of a stained glass, and hanging plants combo. Does anybody have experience with hanging plants in abundance for a window-blind effect?
