Burning is obviously the easiest. If you have a good fan over your oven you could throw them in there on self-clean.

Burning it ? It'll probably be annoying depending where you live but we ain't in summer anymore.

People in my area burn fallen leaves in late Autumn. Pretty sure it shouldn't be a problem

I've prepared a batch of mead must sometime around July 10th.
The airlock has not moved since weeks but I still see tiny bubbles coming up everywhere in the must.
It looks opalescent with a little greyish-white yeast foam on its surface.
Is such a long fermentation time normal or did I fuck something up?

pic unrelated

Id move it to a clean demijohn at tjis point and let it go through secondry fermentation. Long fermentation times are completely normal, so don't worry the longer it takes the better it will be in the end.

Also after its all bottled I recommendletting it mature for as long as you can stave off drinking it for, mead is fantastic matured.

I'm trying to brew my own mead too, cheap equipment as I'm keeping it real yo (It's my first try and wasn't sure what to buy)

Fourth day and I see almost nothing, not much bubbling, and just a disperse little bit of foam on the surface, how long does it take for the fermentation to be noticeable?

Hi /diy/ I don't usually go out of my boards asking for help, but I tried googling and I found nothing. Sorry if this is shitposting.

My problem is simple, I dismantled a Coin Mechanism of a Gumball machine and I can't rearrange it. I THINK I have all the small pieces, but I can search agian, I made it jump when I took it out the last gear, know nothing about the inside.

I would like to ask to help to assemble it again making it turn, disposing bgums, etc. . .I would like to make it work again.

This is the pieces I have, and what I want to assemble, you will save my ass /diy/, thanks.

There is a really annoying clicking noise coming from my computer's PSU. I know it's the PSU, and I know it's not its fan. Has this happened to anyone else? What could it be?

Sorry, but that's totally a fan. You can hear the oscilations as it rotates. Probably just old/bad bearings from the sound of it.

Most bearing hubs are sealed and best fix is just to replace the unit.
>>
Also know this: PSU's aren't serviceable, it's just a plug in replacement. So get a new power supply and get over it. Want a shock of a lifetime? open up a power supply and fuck with it.
So do yourself a favor, get the wattage rating for his unit and go buy a duplicate or 100 watts more. End of thread.

> PSU's aren't serviceable

Just because you let your fear define your actions doesn't mean we all do. Of course they're fucking serviceable.

Does anyone have any experience with sewing from patterns and perhaps pleating? I'm trying to sew a male hakama from this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x8FzXetBc0 but due to my retardedness with numbers and sizings (why I tend to always give up and just eyeball shit and produce inelegant looking, if practical, results) I can't seem to wrap my head around it. I can't correlate the measurements required at the start of the video with the template and scaling it properly is alien to me and I could use a good hand from someone experienced.
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If I were you, I would take my measurements and the formulas in video into the calculation and draw all the pieces on a spreaded pattern paper (maybe newspapers) on the floor, then without trying to scaling the small model I would sew it with pin needles/basting at first. Because overall the model is simple and what would give elegancy is the precise measurements and ironing.
>>
>>906648
The problem is even the measurements don't make sense. Let's take the 2nd and third ones with measurements on an action figure I got (practice making a small one out of scrap fabric before I blow money on the full-sized one going in blind)

A is 3.5cm (11cm waist - 1cm side flaps x4, answer is 7 divided by 2). That's fair enough.

F is A (3.5cm) - 1cm pleats x4 ... -.5cm divided by 2... my answer is negative? How the fuck does that work? Am I being hyper-retarded in basic math here or is there something messed up?

A D, width of hips (11+2 for flaps) divided by 2. 6.5cm - 1cm pleats x4 = 2.5 divided by 2... 1.75cm for the panels? I get that it's larger than negative but what gives?

I can't make heads or tails of how these bloody measurements work on the example she gives. Am I just being denser than nuclear-bunker-tier Lead?
>>
>>906538
I didn't watch the video. Just looked at the pattern printout images.
Take your waist measurement, multiply by 3. = x

Print out second page at 100% size (i.e. no scaling).
Compare waist measurement to length of the printed out waist band (y).

x:y = scaling factor.
Print out both pages again, scaled up to necessary size, tape pages together, cut out, sew.

So for example if your waist is 90cm and the printed out waistband is 20cm:
90*3=270

270:20=13,5
Print out at 13,5 times the size, or 1350%

I figure this is as good a place as any to post and ask this, seeing as we don't have a Home and Garden board. I'm moving into a 536 square-foot studio on January 30th. I also have the option of living with a few friends of mine, but I'm kind of in the "I'd rather live alone" mood. Do you guys have any tips or things you would do to make a studio seem more like a 1 bedroom? Any particular type of room-dividers or things with multi-purposes? I'm looking into buying a bed that also has storage on the bottom, to condense more into less. Anything I should think about before moving?

Not so much a DIY question, but something for any plumbers out there. Had a plumber install a water tank in my yard today while I was at work and the missus didn't ask any questions. We're required by council to have a tank and it was in our original plans. But, I'm not quite sure how this works? Apparently he had to wait for it to fill up before he left. I don't know why you'd have to fill a tank? Isn't the purpose of it to collect rainwater?
Any help would be appreciated

>>
It might help us if you showed whats connected to what, and why your locality requires a water tank.

That looks like a booster pump to boost water pressure independent of city or well pressure.
>>
>>905523
Pretty much the brass pipe is the only thing thats connected and one of the pvc pipes is a run off or overflow drain or something which flows through a sump pump. Theres a pvc pipe off the house which runs into the concrete which I'm assuming is the other pipe? But honestly I don't know.
The brass pipe connects to the house and apparently the plumber said that the taps will spit and spat cause air will be caught in them. So is my water now just running through the tank?
>>
Do you have geothermal heating? I can't think why the PVC goes underground and isn't connected to the bottom to be gravity fed, suggesting they're either return or supply that are pump driven.

This hole and 2 more about the same size are in the mini ramp at my local skate park. I'm not the diy type so I went to home depot and talked with someone who knew as little as I did and ended up buying wood filler which I used to fill one. I think I fucked up, I did it tonight and I will go back tomorrow to see how good it is, but it doesn't look good at all, and I think it will wear away easily.

What would you guys do to fix these holes? It would need to withstand skateboard wheels riding over it and also be able to withstand rain and snow. Any Ideas?

>>
Best bet would be to fill with epoxy, but you will have to clean the filler out. For a really good repair, fill with epoxy, then add a new board over the top. If you dont fill with epoxy first, it will leave a weak spot and you will go thru the new top board. Epoxy is the way to go, you are right, wood filler will mush the first rain.

..that's a water inlet anon.

The fact you even need to ask whether you should be disconnecting power (and the fact you think the water inlet is a power socket) before commencing work would suggest that you should stay well the fuck away and call someone who intuitively knows the answer to that question.

Hey /diy/kes! I'm finally putting in a proper driveway to my garage instead of just gravel. My question is this: I live in the snow belt, and I've always herd stories of some old plumber putting in tubing in the concrete of his driveway, hooking it up to a small water heater with a pump in a closed loop and using that to melt snow and ice off. Anybody ever really seen this in action, or is it total horse shit? The company I work for used to do everything, but we have gotten out of plumbing and now just do electric and HVAC, so my boss has about a 1000 ft. of pex he will let me have for the reel deposit. Will pex work in concrete? No experience at all with plumbing, so I don't have a clue. It's 1/2 inch btw if that makes a difference.

basically the same technology as radiant floor heating... some systems use hot water and plastic tubing, some use electrical heater wire
only problem I see is with the extreme cold of the snow on the concrete, chances are the plastic tubing will burst if the system is ever off and filled with water when it snows. the cold will make the water expand when it freezes. so unless you plan to run this 24/7 during the winter, or have a failsafe in case the pump fails or the electricity goes out, it probably isnt a cost effective option. now, if you embed electrical heating wire into the concrete at least you dont have the problem of possible broken tubing spewing water under the driveway foundation.. but your electric bill will be horrific to run an electrical heater for the whole driveway for the entire winter 24/7

sometimes nothing beats a good ole shovel, or a snow blower....
>>
>>902460
Weeelllll, Since it is a closed loop, I was going to use either a methanol/water mix like in geothermal, or just plain 50/50 antifreeze and water so I wouldn't have the freezing problem. I'm leaning more towards the methanol/water mix becuas of better heat transfer.

To add to this, I highly doubt it'd actually properly melt existing snow.
Say it falls over night and you're dealing with a meter of snow.
You ain' gonna melt shit. Atleast not in a respectable amount of time. I'd imagine you'd need to run it 24/7 to melt down snow and ice as it starts to form on the ground.

I would consider a snow blower like the Anon suggested.
I'm considering buying one myself since the ATV has trouble pushing heavy snow.
