Hey /diy/, my friends and I are trying to fix this shocking game/toy thingy (its called Lightning Reaction Reloaded). Basically, we don't know what the fuck were doing. There's a black wire and a red wire that got disconnected and we don't know where to connect it back. Any help?

I suspect your two wires are vcc and gnd. Finding a place to connect them should be trivial. Learn how to use your iron, its not that hard.

Hello /diy/,

I'm new to this board and I heard a lot about Rasberry Pi.
I understand it's a micro-computers but what can I do with this ? Since I don't know anything about it, where should I start to learn how to use it ?

Video is kinda outdated since the B+ but still, my point is, you can learn a lot about the Raspberry Pi and really anything else on youtube. Youtube is great for this sort of thing, search around on there.

Also check this out right now,

>>
>>915626
Thanks, I'm checking this out !

I've already bought this bundle, that's what made me curious about all of this and made me visit this board ! I haven't read all of these magazines yet though but I feel that I need the very basics before continuing reading them. (and your video seems to be able to help me)
>>
>>915621
Honestly, I would say the RPi is more /g/ than /diy/. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of cool embedded projects you could do with it, but you have to understand that it's an actual computer and not just a microprocessor, and is therefore more suited towards such high-level tasks (for instance, hosting your own web server or doing graphical processing).
>>915626
That's not even a B+, that's a B.

Hey,

I love multirotors and I have a Quadcopter that I have built myself so I am not a total noob but I am not super knowledgeable either since a friend helped me build it. The only part I really don't understand is the ESCs, my friend programmed mine and while I want to build a FPV tricopter, I don' want to have to do this. I see there are pre-flashed ESCs but I don't know if they are compatible with what I want. Do pre-flashed ESCs come with different settings that I need to be aware of?

Basically is all this stuff compatible?

>The only part I really don't understand is the ESCs
So you're comfortable setting up and tuning a flight controller like a Naze32? That's really more important than reflashing ESCs. It's not too finnicky with Cleanflight Configurator or similar, but there are a lot of steps and it's an important and surprisingly time-consuming setup.

The ESCs you chose already have SimonK firmware, so they should work great without programming/reflashing (even those that don't have multirotor firmware still work, but SimonK or BLheli improve response considerably and let you crank up the gains more). Brushless ESCs and motors can be reversed by simply swapping motor leads, make sure to check all the directions and response before you put the propellers on.

I'd also avoid the raceband transmitters, ImmersionRC/Fatshark keeps introducing proprietary shit to try and box competitors out of the market and force customers to buy new shit, and the raceband is just another example of that.
>>
>>915649
I am not rewriting this shit on another thread, fuck off. I will however search next time before posting.

>>915665
Oh yeah I comfortable with the Naze32, not really any other flight controller. My quadcopter has a naze32 and while I use Baseflight instead of Cleanflight, its all the same really. I don't know every command you can possibly run in Baseflight, but I know enough to setup a Quad/Tri-copter.

I knew those ESCs had SimonK cause of a thread I found but what I am confused on is do I need Brushless ESCs for Brushless Motors? I found some Brushless ESCs and they are really expensive, what are they used for?

Also I didn't realize my A/V transmitter was a raceband or even realize what that is but I'll fix it and get something else. I have the Fatshark Attitude V2 for a headset.

full story

last summer my ps4 stopped showing any signal when i brought it back from a friends house i could still use remote play but there was nothing going into the tv i tired switching cords hard resetting but nothing worked i looked up a bunch of stuff online and concluded the only thing it could be is the HDMI port so i looked up how to fix it and found it too complicated and looked for someone local i finally found one and he said he would fix it for 100$(he said 80 first but i wanted to w8 till i had some extra cash but i didnt care that much) so went to see him and left it there he says the HDMI is intact and clean and it might be something else on the mainboard is the cause, possibly the GPU which i find kind of weird because if that were true would remote play with my vita still work? anyways il probably end up just getting a new ps4 and the problem is i dont want to have to re download all my games and lose P.T. so i herd if i put a hard drive into another ps4 it will wipe my data so i was wondering...

main question

is there anything i can do to fix my ps4 or worse case be able to trick a new ps4 in taking my hard drive without wiping my game data especially PT(even if it takes switching internal parts)

il also post something in video game linking to this hopefully someone can help

any diy plumbers in here? my shower has been getting slower and slower for the last 2 months, and when I woke up today the water from my shower last night was still there. chemical drain cleaners worked at first but then stopped having any effect. just now I took the overflow cover off, and instead of having a stopper connected to it there was only a broken wire. the snake ran through without resistance, but I think it might just have been too short. it was one of those single use plastic ones I got at walmart.

is there anything else I can do or is it time to call a plumber?

You basically have two options:
Rent a real snake machine or call a plumber
>>
>>915245
is there a possibility that the clog is actually the stopper that broke loose and got caught somewhere down the line? I'm moving out in 3 days so the worst that happens is I don't get my deposit back, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to bail the tub into the sink if I want to shower again before then.
>>
>>915228
Just went through a drain fix myself. Should've just called a plumber, since the cost was barely more than what I spent on tooling.

If you insist on doing it yourself, then get your ass down to a home center like Lowes or Home Depot. Buy the longest snake they have and get one with the diamond shaped head on it. Run it down about a foot and spin it around. Keep repeating that until the drain opens up.

For my house, I had a 50-ft snake with one of those shitty spring coils on the end. Goddamned clog was over 60 feet from where the plumber accessed the line (which was about 10 feet closer than where I accessed it), so I was well over 20 feet short of the actual blockage. As I said, it would've been better to just call the guy first.

Stop buying tools at Wal-Mart. That's step number 1. I'm not a herp-derp Anti-Wal-Mart guy, but I'm not going to buy tools from their bullshit Home Repair section.

I have this 2.4ghz antenna. What way is the antenna supposed to radiate? A OR B?
12 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>915015
Both I'd imagine.
>>
Looks like a patch antenna. If the metal plate there is the driven element and the PCB is the ground plane, then it's A. If it's the other way around, then B. If I had to guess I'd say B (for the lack of an apparent feed point connecting the coax to the plate), but I'd need to see the other side - ideally in clear enough detail to see traces on the PCB - to say for sure.

At the top of the stairs I would attach them to the walls. As you go down I would use those nice 4x4s as an attachment point. I would only put one in the floor at the bottom. Like pic related. Only at the very end. I'd probably only use a single pipe, not a double like my pic.

I appreciate the help, I'm a total noob just trying to fix up my first house.

I've got these shitty kitchen boards made out of metal with a single crappy rail on the back, and a cheap clasp from some German company that only sells to the trade.

Over time, the little clasps have broken, meaning the boards barely hold in place, and one keeps falling down constantly.

I can't buy these clasps anywhere, because they have a specific dumb retard system that doesn't work properly, and I can't buy some other types and bodge them to fit with screws because there's nothing to screw into on a mm or two of aluminium.

How can I cheaply keep these stupid things attached non-permanently without going out and just buying a bunch of new kickboards?

what, do you take them off weekly to vacuum?

>>
>>916550
Get some 3m hook and loop or hook and hook system or whatever and stick it on.
>>
>>916555
They've got a bit of sealant at the bottom, the issue is that the crappy clasps leave half of them resting at 70 degree angles as they're poorly supported.

>>916558
Velcro? You know how plinths work, right? One large rigid body, lots of small plinths it has to grab onto. There's also a fair bit of distance between where the plinth is and where the board is.

Hello, /n/ here.

In the bike world, mechanics and those who work on their own bikes make a common practice of greasing almost all threads on bolts with the exception of a few cases which either call for mixture or a dry fit. This is typical, since a light coat of grease will ensure that when it comes time to replace the bolt however many years down the line, corrosion will not lock the pieces together and potentially ruin expensive frames or componentry.

But then I mention my practice in other /diy/ disciplines I sometimes get chastised, as the grease makes the bolts too easy to overtorque and that torque values are given without grease in mind.

What are your thoughts? Greasing bolts: cheap insurance, or a recipe for disaster?

Anyone here done mold remediation? I'm looking to buy a house but there's mold in the attic. I know I can ask the seller to remedy, but is this something that is putting me off. We know the source and would update ventilation to minimize moisture in the attic, but is there anything else that could cause me pain?

I'm looking at buying a foreclosed house.

It has some pretty bad rot at a corner post. Per usual with South Carolina, there are no gutters. Splash back from the propane tank rotted the siding, and eventually rotted through.

How much of a nightmare would this be to fix?

Which do you prefer, DIY?

I have an AHP AlphaTIG 200x TIG welder. I prefer TIG because there's almost no spatter whatsoever and it's a very precise weld. Not to mention, you can work on practically every metal imaginable.

Here's my welder. I love it. It's so cheap for a TIG welder and performs fantastic on everything.

Tig. But I only ever got to use tig a handful of times.. Migs good too. Theres some drawbacks like really tight corners. But maybe theres a nozzle that can direct the gas a bit better so you can have your wire fed further out.

But I don't normally plan to work with mild steels and such. DOM. Stainless. cmoly. And aluminums. Im really into gokarts. One day when I got like a grand or two to drop on a setup I just might. But thats in the very far future/another life kinda deal right now.
