New homeowner reporting in.
I just moved to outside of my parents house and I want to buy a screwdriver set for whenever I need it. I could buy something for just a few euros, but why not get something a little better?
Can anyone recommend a fairly affordable, but good quality brand? A multi-bit set and magnetized would be the best. I live in the Netherlands.
Gozer, koop van elke schroevendraaier 1.... de kans dat je het dan niet gaat redden is erg klein...

I don't really look for savings. Just a better quality product for a little more, not professional tier.

Looking for ideas to make a diy wallet.
Bills, cards, and maybe some pocket to carry a small tool like a razor or a flat wrench

do you want us to google shit for you?
First tought was to use that material used in radiographies, how is it called? Vinylic, acrylic?
>>937165
No sir, please dont.
I have already search in google and everything was like pouches, country style, or Hello Kitty thing... I want something discrete, for male, and that look modern... like a wallet made by Apple
Figured since vapers can have their own thread, we can too. What are you guys smoking? Any preferred brands/Online retailers?
Currently using pic related, gambler 100 tubes, and a mixture of Bugler/Largo Yellow/PS Turkish tobacco at a 1:2:1 ratio.
If I run out of tubes I use bugler papers and the same ratio of tobaccos, no filter
This topic is annoying as fuck. I get into this every other year or so and it always end the same. I get about 2 weeks in and can no longer tolerate how shitty the tobacco is. Always had that dry, stale flavor and feels /tastes acidic on the tongue. It is disgusting.
Would love to hear some recommendations on tobacco to buy, preferably with comparisons to common standard cigarettes flavors. Just saying "it's pretty good" or "it ain't bad" tells me nothing.
OHM turkish blend red
it's almost nearly a Camel
been smoking it for almost a year.
great stuff, doesn't dry out too fast if you forget to close the bag overnight.

At least where I live, there is a legitimate honest-to-god pipe shop (as in, no "tobacco" water pipes [totally not for weed, guys, seriously], no paraphernalia or other dumb stoner shit) that will sell you bags of fresh tobacco just like a coffee shop will sell you coffee beans.
Hey /DIY/ First time posting here,
I was wondering if anybody knew anything about making guitar effect pedals ala Dwarcraft, Old Blood Noise Endeavors, etc. I've been trying to find a basis to start with, but I really dont know where to start. Ive seen a few guides online, Such as http://www.guitarpcb.com/PDF%20Files/A%20Beginners%20Guide%20to%20Effects%20Pedal%20Components.pdf, http://www.guitarpcb.com/PDF%20Files/Crash%20Course.pdf.
But I dont really know where to start. Any ideas? Im just wondering what kind of electronics course I should take or something. I wanna know how to make my OWN effects, not follow a pre-built thingy.
Gonna bump with Guitar pedal porn
I'm moulding a helmet so i can produce more of them, I've got my silicone ready to go, but I'm having a hard time finding fibreglass cloth and resin. Do any UK anons know where I can buy any (Thats not too expensive), do any other anons have any alternatives to fibreglass? I have heard that Plaster of Paris works, but I'm not very experienced with this sort of thing.
boat repair places?
>>937003
get a bondo fiberglass kit at any auto store
My university seems to source a lot of stuff from easycomposites.co,uk. We get carbon fibre matting and stuff like that on giant rolls but it looks like you can buy it by the square metre.
i'm trying to make some stuff to sell online, any ideas?
Audiophile placebo garbage

so... take shitty headphones and add something?
>>935322
No, you need to design shitty headphones that use outrageously expensive components, gold plated wire, and look pretty. Then mark the price up 1000x.
Hey guys.
I'm making a new table that is going to have a somewhat unorthodox design. Anyway, I saw this picture and I thought that I really liked the heightening-/lowering thing, that I have encircled... Just one qustion though; do anybody know what these are called??
'Hand crank table lift mechanism', according to google. Pretty neat idea, if I had the skills I'd go after it.
>>935039
wheel crank, hand wheel, valve handle, hand crank etc etc
What you're looking for is a screw jack.
http://joycedayton.com/products/machine-screw-jacks
And that is a industrial crank table, much nice in blue in my opinion.

Does anyone know a good book about all kinds of different life hacks? I mean, a bunch of things, like how to hotwire a car etc, and more elaborated than those "These 25 lifehacks will blow your mind"-articles.
Maybe something like "The Anarchists cook book"? (Which i haven't read, just heard rumors about)
>>933326
im glad to see you following the new rule, a macgyver pic with every question thread.
how wiring a car has not been a thing for a long time now
im almost positive anarchists cookbook is bullshit/(out)dated
you will find better life hacks on your own through trials and tribulations, instead of in a book

"life hacks" are just a meme that take advantage of people's desire for shortcuts and easy solutions; they rarely if ever actually do anything about the underlying problem. If you have a problem that needs solved, learn about it (google helps), and then solve it. Bada bing, bada boom, life hacked.

I tried asking this on /mus/ but no one has replied, so I'm gonna try here.
So I have recently started the planning phase for an electric guitar based off of some designs I saw for halo's guitars. I couldn't find the specs for any of the sizes so I kinda mixed up various specs I found for different electric guitars.
For the head stock I have 3 2/4" wide, 5 9/16" Long, 9/16" thick and 1 10/16" wide for where it connects to the neck.
The body is 21" long (probably gonna shorten it), 14" wide, 1 22/25" thick
How long and thick do you think the neck should be and should I change any of these.
The absolute first thing you should do when planning to build a guitar is to draw it full size (including any planned hardware, to scale), with a straightedge for the bits you want to be straight. You'll want a top-down view, a side-on view, and a full-size drawing of any pockets or interesting features that you plan to put in/on the thing.
This step, by itself, will answer most of these questions. If the drawing feels too big, then redraw a line smaller and work the design until you've got an outline for a playable instrument.
Have you decided on scale length? Do you have hardware you want to design around, or do you plan to get hardware and electronics based on your design? Do you know what sort of control scheme you want?
The reason I'm being a little obtuse is that it isn't exactly possible to answer your question based just on what you've asked. The measurements you have could as easily describe a box as an extra-thick telecaster.
Were you planning a tilted headstock? Set neck, neck through, bolt-on, or something in between? If you were going to tilt the headstock, would you do a one-piece neck or use a scarf joint?
>>937679
First, yes, it is going to be a tilted headstock with a neck through one piece neck, sorry I didn't include that, also the scale length would be 24.75". And I do realize that I would draw out my design first, these measurements were just so I could make that phase go way faster then drawing and re-drawing. I just wanted to know if my measurements seemed too large or too small for what I had in mind, that's why the picture is there, its the design i wanted minus the shark fin inlay. Sorry if this reply sounded snarky, I feel like it did when i don't want it too.
>>937679
sorry, forgot to add that yes, i would be getting hardware to accommodate my guitar, and also the layout would be like a traditional gibson, aka. 4 knob. the shape is what you see in the picture btw.
Ok, so ihave this Kenmore top load washing machine. is not spinning, google said it was the motor couple, checked that and is good, nothing seem broken, I am going to change it anyways,
What else can be? the motor sound identical as this video. in the beggining.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHoAjOmHDU
Could it be the dog agitators? checking other options in google.
did you jiggle the cable?
>>936074
1. Take out tub
b. Line inside of washer with magnets polarized north
Three: Line tub with southernly polarized magnets
iv. Reassemble, and give the tub a slight spin
Cinqo. Washer will continue to spin as needed
BONUS: buy a taser to invert the polariaty as need be.
Suggestions for turning this into a woodshop? I already have all my tools and have been doing fine woodworking for a few years now. Soon a family member is getting this property, and this thing is out there. There's power nearby.
It's in Florida so I'm not worried about heating it. Cooling will just be a fan and a cold bottle of water.
I don't want to do anything with the floor if I don't have to. For table legs that'll be on the ground, I'll either surround the legs in plastic bags, or varnish them, or use treated lumber for the legs.
My main concern is moisture, obviously. I've thus far had my woodshop in a garage outside, as part of a strip of garages with no climate control, in an apartment complex. The humidity hasn't been too bad overall (well, it's Satan's armpit during the summer but it doesn't affect my stock too terribly).

Just thinking about using some corrugated roofing as the walls, running power, using plywood/OSB walls for at least one wall so I can hang all my tools (French cleat system yay), and making sure there's no leaks in the roof.
Is this a shitty idea or will it work pretty much?
>>937121
until the next hurricane
>>937124
Lots of trees around. It's a shed anyway. If a hurricane hits it's done for unless I add extra posts and have nice plywood walls
Hey guys so I need some help with my mig welding I just started yesterday and while my welds hold well enough they look like absolute garbage. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
>pic related my weld
>>937494
Start with butt welding. Work on having a consistent rate of pull. Google up the materials you're working with to find out the correct settings.
Then practice a lot.
Once you can consistently weld in a straight, flat line, start welding pieces of square iron or angle iron together. Once you get that down, try your hand at some wide radius curves, but the biggest key to welding is consistency.
>>937494
From the looks of the pic, no surface prep, not enough amperage/feed rate too high. You're just building up metal over the weld instead of making a molten pool and bonding the two sides together.
Start on smaller plate stock, don't go for thick heavy things until later. it takes a lot of experience to be able to set your machine up correctly for heavy duty welds. I strongly suggest getting a amperage chart.
>>937494
>you didn't clean the metal
>no gas shielding or Flux core was wrong type
>feed rate too high and maybe running hot on the amps
Your welds likely don't "hold well enough" because those look like they have SpongeBob square pantsb levels of porosity.
I'm trying to understand this technical drawing. It's supposed to be a piston rod of a shock absorber. There is supposed to be a screw-thread somewhere, but I can't see where. Also, what the hell does the cross mean at the left?
>>937446
there are threaded ends at both ends. m10x1 is a threaded end and 5/16-24 unf is a threaded end.
not sure what the X is or if you cut off some of the label pointing to it but since its a shock piston it is likely some form of adjustment. either keyed or hex or knurled.
>>937448
>m10x1 is a threaded end and 5/16-24 unf is a threaded end
How can you tell from the drawing?
>>937463
>How can you tell from the drawing?
because it says m10x1 and 5/16-24 unf, respectively?
you know, that being what technical drawings do, tell you the specifications, and all that....
I live in an apt that has an enclosed hallway. It fucking stinks in the hallway from people smoking in it. Is there a way to make my door seal better. It's a wood door and carpet in both sides. Not an actual door frame with the metal bottom part like on most houses
Also I don't own it so I can't replace the door or insulate further unless he won't notice I insulated the walls
Local hardware store should have rolls of door seal and a rubber sweep. That would be a good start.
>>937694
Yep. door seal tape is gonna be your go to. If door is an interior hollow core door, wouldn't suggest a door sweep. you should be able to get away with seal tape for the sides and top and a draft snake or rolled up towel to seal the bottom.
Honestly, just rat out your roommates to the landlord. Landlords fucking HATE smokers, discolors walls, ash ruins carpets, they tend to litter butts everywhere, and the smell is expensive to remove. Like tear out drywall and insulation and replace and repaint expensive.
So if he wants to keep them, you should ask to pay less rent because of low air quality, if not, you get rid of smokers.
