need help wiring ebike wiring what do i do
Well that depends, do you want longevity, or maximum power?
Would you like a slow bike that gets you where you need to go, or a fire/explosion?
Hi good people of /diy/. I would like to ask:
For economic reasons, I was forced to be in a family plan and was gifted a sony experia z3+ (z4 for JP users). I was seeing some themes and would like to know...In the sony page, they have a theme creator and I've been seeing around but can't find what I would like to know which is if there is a way to change certain icons to stuff that you would normally download from the internet like this for example. Is this possible with said program or is there a better one? I just want to change the home, apps (that one in the center above the home button) and the phone button.
Thanks in advance!

I believe this is the reason google exists.
Sup /diy/cks, anyone know if I can substitute in a waterproof solar panel for the one that comes with the set of lights? (see pic)
More questions:
>The 12v solar panel appears to put out 1.26W, but the lights appear to require just 0.7W; will they only draw what they need or will the 12V solar panel melt them?
>Would I be able to splice in some wire between the power source and the first LED? I want to put the panel in a sunny place that will be removed from where I actually want to put the lights, do I need to figure in some added resistance?
>How do I read the specs on the light? basically how can I answer my own questions about these kinds of things going forward?
Any and all knowledge on simple wiring techniques and fundamentals extremely appreciated.
Thanks
Also, is the panel that comes with the light good enough to support the splicing-in of additional wiring? Would the easiest thing to do in this situation be to build some kind of upgraded housing for the panel that comes with the set of lights? What would be the best material to cover the panel with? Clear plastic like the kind used to frame artwork?
It would probably be easier to start from scratch than to mod some cheap shit

But what about a suitable casing? He'll have to either buy one or build one, with the risk of leaks.
Might as well see if you can hack something up, no need to reinvent the wheel and all that...
Currently in the process of repainting and building an old start knockoff I had lying around. (Msrp: around $100)
I know I'd probably be better off just buying a cheap fender, but I wanna see what I can do with this.
Any luthiers or Guitar players have any tips or suggestions? I have yet to decide on all of my new parts, or even how I'll paint it.
Is a new bridge important? I also heard people saying to replace the pots for the controls, so that's a consideration.
Pic related is its original appearance with all the old parts intact.
As for pickups, I was originally planning on getting the fender vintage strat noiseless pickups, but a much cheaper alternative would be better.
Up to here, there was nothing too fishy about this guitars construction.
Budget? What kind of music do you play?
>>939756
Sorry, should've clarified.
Going for under $100 in terms of new parts.
Probably gonna go for a cheap GFS setof pickups
I use my actually good tele for blues and lead stuff, so hoping to use this for more shoegaze, drone music.
I'll post another pic after work, started peeling the paint off and found something unusual.
/diy/ Do you know what this crack in my wall is? It's as the side of the house (semi detached) Home insurance have said that it is not an insurable event and is not subsidence.
>>939605
Crack is narrow and even along its length. Its just a crack, they happen. Get a good mason to freshen up your points and replace the damaged bricks and it will be good for years to come.
>>939607
It's from ground settlement. The slab has sunk slightly and is cracked also.
>>939605
>is not subsidence.
HAHAHAHAHA! What fucking jews they are. That is classic subsidence. Get a lawyer and have them jewbattle for your insurance. That insurance company is full of shit.
Hey /diy/
Want to add guitar mounts on the side of stack. I dont want the mounts to be sticking out unless i need them, I want them to be able to fold up and lock in that position when not in use. How do I go about doing that?
Its like the one in the pic, the mount screws into the faceplate so it would have to be added in there between the plate and the mount
>>939490
Buy one of these. Adding something like that looks cheap and tacky and if your amp were ever to fall over(and believe me it happens), It'll take your guitars with it and leave you in tears.
Hello, first time posting. I would like to ask if there's any way to make steam play music/sound when at the "login/signup" screen? I guess it would be in the "steam.styles" file or one like that. thanks for help

my grandfather had this Dr Pepper sign. I THINK it's a panel for a wall light from the 1960s-1980s, you put lights behind it and hang it up on the wall. But the problem is I literally cannot find this thing anywhere. I don't know what the proper coloring or lighting of it is. I'd like to know how one of these looked when it was new so I can try to restore it. Any info will be appreciated
>>939360
What's with ppl uploading 3meg pic files?
Those typically had a 3 to 4 in deep aluminum frame that held a florescent bulb or two. No color.
you sure thats an illuminated sign? It dont look very translucent, what it made of, because, it dont look much like perspex, etc.
Hang a light behind it (any light..) - if you cant see the light, it aint an illuminated sign, hang it as is, done. Otherwise, xactly as >>939986 said, flouresent strip, or, for that, maybe a couple of round flourescents, Philips 22W Master TL-E (T9) Circular Tube - Daylight - RND example.
So i ended up with the wrong bedframe for my queen size headboard/footboard set. The headboard and footboard don't bolt up to the ends of the bedframe. They bolt into these aide rails and hook onto the siderail of the frame. Pic related is how the siderails for the headboard/footboard hook to the bedframe. Where can I find some bedframes that will have the peice that connects to pic related.

Plumber here, throw those fucking wipes away. Don't flush em or you'll be calling me one day.
Violin Making: can you suggest DIY violin Making guides and where to find the pdf?
"The Art of Violin Making" by Chris Johnson and Roy Courtnall is the best book for beginning violin makers, but it's too expensive.
Where I live (Milan, Italy) there are no part-time courses for violin making, since I work I can't go to full-time courses becauce I'm free only late in te evening or in the weekends.
I would appreciate your suggestions and experiences. Thanks
My advice is to start large and work to violins, start with larger hollowbody guitars like acoustics or Gibson style electrics, the techniques used are almost identical. I happen to own my own lutherie here in the states and I can tell you with total confidence, as it is how my shop got its start with violins and violas. Be patient, expect to screw up, and remember the luthier mantra... Imagine calm blue ocean as you measure everything five times before making a cut or drilling a hole

http://www.stewmac.com/ is a great place to get kits/specialized tools/etc. for people in the US. I don't know about how well they are for Euros/if there's a Euro company like them, but I imagine there is.

These guys know their shit.
>>938450
this guy's advice is on point
Additionally, there's a lot of information that's not really online or it's spread around in a lot of annoying to find places, so physical books are a damn good friend to you.
As for courses, try calling up luthiers in your area. Some might happily teach you around your schedule. Others might suck at life.

>tonewood is a fucking myth. Tonality is a function of wood density. Don't let anyone fucking tell you differently.
>>938454
Precisely, "tonewood" is an industry term used by large companies to sweeten the description of a guitar, in fact in most electrics the wood matters exactly zero percent, it is there to screw hardware into and hold some strings on in most cases, we now make cellos with carbon fiber mainly because we can vacuform the body and then veneer it to customer specs with no loss in tonal quality. Stewmac is God for anyone living the life of a strong jockey, and if you were anywhere near !e I would be glad to teach you everything I know
Steam? Should I just use my fingernails? It's on the cardboard slip cover, for fucks sake why is this legal

googone or alcohol

I used to work at an independent video game store years ago and surprising enough, we would use a fresh price sticker to pull sticker residue off. Keep in mind most game packaging is plastic so, your results may vary.

mineral spirit, a drop of two, let it sit for 3 minutes, wipe off, done
Is installing a pissoir in one's bathroom a good or bad idea?
To me it seems like a great idea, since I'm forever alone and would optimize my bathroom visits.
Are there any downsides you should be aware of?
If you live alone just leave the seat up.
urinal is fine in a house as long as you flush every time and no savages will be shitting in it.
bidet (ass washing fountain) is also very nice if you've got the space. gentler than TP.
I'd say go for it. I've often wanted to do something like this at home, but I'm constrained by having too small of a bathroom. Maybe if I could find a design that's recessed into a wall.
Can we get a forge general going? Just finished mine today, now i just need to find a anvil and buy some coal. Really excited to get started, can anyone recommend some good videos for beginners?
What fan are you using? and are you melting or forging?
Well the first piece of equipment you will need are tongs so look up how to make them.
So I’m looking to make a monitor carrying case and I like this design. I’d just buy this one, but the dimensions are too small for my 27” monitor which is 25 3/4 in by 16 3/8 in, and the reviews all say it falls apart easily.
Currently I just use the boxes it came in, but the Styrofoam and cardboard are beginning to fall apart. It’s also mildly inconvenient.
Mainly I’m looking for suggestions on materials, like something for the front side that will be sturdy and also not scratch the surface. Have any of you ever done anything like this?
Well, look at your own picture. I think it's called neoprene. Polyester canvas? Denim?
>>941510
Just use a low-midweight canvas for the exterior and back it with a felted material.
One of those aluminum cases and just cut a hole for the monitor base?
Hi /diy/, I don't usually come here so bear with me.
Is there any way to mount an extension cord to a wooden desk without damaging said desk?
Pic related.
Define damage.
You can usually mount them with screws.
Mounting tape will work and not damage the desk it you remove it correctly.
>>940738
Magnets if the desk isn't thick.
