Hi guys i wan create my own guitar pedals effect,
some one got some experience?

oh, this thread again.

Internet ist full of sites for diy pedals, but nvm...

if you want to clone just a pedal, use google for the schematic. if you want to modify a pedal, youre welcome.

if you really want to create a new pedal, lets go - thats the real stuff.

i guess you got all the tools and the skills (soldering etc.) too.

my first own - created pedal was a digital lowfi one; i took a vocoder - ic in dip-housing, created a buffer, soldered all together and voila.

most analog pedals are created yet, fuzz, dist, overdrive, buffer, boost - there is little to no room for innovations. so what do you have in mind?
>>
>>942968
I've made a fair bunch of pedals, but nothing like that.
can you name the IC?
sounds fun.

IC is HT895.

Hey /Diy/ First time here, anyway I have a class project where I need to demonstrate on how to do something in the class. I'm completely out of ideas. I thought about how to build a computer, but I'd rather not bring my desktop all the way up to the campus. Anyway any idea is appreciated.

Does anyone have experience or advice when it comes to making the type of things featured in this video?

I'm interested in all of them, especially the percussion and stringed instruments.

Very interesting video op but you'll probably have to be more specific. All of them have very different techniques used to build them. It would probably be easier to hit up a junkyard and make your own than to try to recreate his instruments.

hey /diy/,

for a design project me and 2 other folks are looking to make my own wearable device like fitbit, but with other sensors too (3-axis accelerometer, skin temp., ambient temp. + humidity, electrodermal activity, pulse rate, blood oximetry attachment).

I'm trying to include a bluetooth module but i'm curious how that works, does each bluetooth module come with a unique PIN that allows you to pair it with a computer?

any advice appreciated

Hey guys. So a few months back I bought a cheap USB battery which claims to be holding 2200 mah which is total bullshit cause it only charges my phone about 30% and only if I let it idle. Today I decided to open the shit and see what kind of battery is in there. To my surprise it was a laptop battery cell. No inscriptions on it though. Then I thought why don't I replace it with a cell from my old laptops battery. The cells look exactly alike except there is some information on these ones (lgcas31865 i3011008413 ij281a1s3). Anyway the cells didn't have any juice in them but they had .something voltage. I hooked one to the shit battery pack circuitry and I restored its voltage (3.6-3.7) and when I measured amps the multimeter went through the roof (old ass tool with needle pointer and DC 500 mah max). Then I thought why not make a mega battery pack. I hooked all 6 of them in parallel and let it charge for a few hours. Everything worked great and I could charge my phone completely (about 1200 mah from 50% to 100%) and it was still going. It was charging even if I was using my phone so thats great. Now my question is how safe is this thing? Can I let it charge overnight and still wake up? Is there a risk for the batteries to explode in my pocket or backpack? The laptop battery: pa3534u-1brs and it was pretty done when I stopped using that laptop. They haven't been charged for years.

>when I measured amps the multimeter went through the roof

Never do this. Your multimeter measures current by checking the voltage drop across a resistor of a few milliohms. Putting the probes directly across your battery is almost the same as shorting it which can cause overheating and explosions.

> Is there a risk for the batteries to explode in my pocket or backpack?

The LiPo and LiIon batteries used by hobbyists often have built in overcurrent protection to stop meltdowns, but it doesn't sound like yours do. Without protection power wires just lightly brushing against each other can weld themselves together. I had some batteries glow white hot and burn through my workbench before I had time to grab safety goggles and wire cutters. I was planning on putting those batteries right next to my skull in an LED helmet.
>>
if you mess you LiPos, you can get a fireball in your pocket. just disassemble everything and throw it away, then thank Zeus you're still alive.
>>
So if those 2 solder points from pos ans neg wires from picture were to touch each other everything will go to shit?

Special tools are expensive and of limited utility by nature, so I usually try to make them from common stuff before I give in.

From top to bottom:

1. Chain whip, made from a metal rule and some parts of an old chain. Its sole purpose is to flay the flesh, also to remove the sprocket from my Shimano 7 speed bike.
2. Burnishing rod made from an old worn out bastard file, with the edge ground smooth for burring my cabinet scraper.
3. Marking knife filed out of a spade bit.

What about u?

I don't think I have ever seen tools quite like these. You are probably the type of person who should try metalworking and welding as a hobby.

I made a ghetto shank out of a hack saw blade and some hockey tape, but that's really not worth a picture

I also made a thing that we call "the tool", its a piece of quarter round taped to a piece of baseboard for extra length, about 18' long total, for cleaning eaves troughs that I can't reach the end of

Comming here because i don't know where else to ask.

My Xbox360 wireless receiver for PC recently died after a few years of use. I searched around and it was most likely a fuse. So i soldered across it, and now it works again.

However, i dont want to fry my USB ports.

Would it be better to plug it into a USB hub -> PC? Do most standard cheapo hubs have a fuse?

our company took on a job of reconditioning an old SCR control system for an oilrig a few years ago.
really old shit. diode matrix cards, relays and everything.

we bought a small batch of metal cap lm741's
they where all good and legit national components, so we ordered much more from the same supplier.
like half of them failed in circuit because the offset pin did nothing, and we had issues all over.
a colleague pulled the cap it, it was a smaller brandless metal op-amp with national cap stuck on top. almost like in the OP.

So I did what I should have done originally and put this on a breadboard before trying to solder it all together, and figured out how to get rid of the high frequency oscillation. Instead of trying to fuck around with a bunch of caps for local feedback in the voltage gain stage, all I needed was one from the op amp output to the inverting input (C6). -3db fall off is right before 20 kHz, but since it's a bass amp wired to a big woofer it's unlikely I'll need nearly that high response, even. I also had some pretty heavy DC offset on the output (150 mV), but that was solved by lowering R17 from 100k to 10k. It's going to be driven from a crossover with more 5532 op amps, so lower input impedance shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you /diy/no

Hey /diy/, oldfag fa/tg/uy here and I'm thinking of build a smallish bookshelf for muh nerd-tomes.

I've got the dimensions sorted out and I'm not half bad with woodwork, but I'm not theost knowledgeable when it come to the complexities of hardwood furnishings.

My question: Would rabbeting out grooves in the walls of the bookcase with my router be the simplest/most effective way to install the shelves, or is there a better way? I have no idea how its done traditionally but that just seems like the most direct way to me. Thanks for any help/insight you might have!

If you don't need the shelves to move that is an absolutely rock solid way to do it and you should have no qualms about using that technique.

Can someone please provide me with guidence?

I need a nanny cam for my living room, i thought about buying one of those "Smoke Detectors" since it's 400 bucks which i don't have i would like to know how i could build one myself and if there is any tutorial ?

Speccs should be:
-720p Audio/Video
-Motion Detection
-remote wifi access
-sd slot for recording

Help a brother out

Since i posted this already in /tech/ and there was the question what i would use it for

> it is for my living room / home office, i work alot and have to travel more often than i like. My Fiance has been lying to me about a few things the last two times i had to travel.
I would more or less like to get some peace of mind before i marry her.

On second thought, after rereading your desired specs it seems what you need is a wireless webcam. Put some tape over the light that comes on when it's recording, and put the receiver in your computer (one of the unseen USB ports in the back of the computer). Log into your profile (or the hidden admin profile if you're running WinDon't), get it all set up, then jump back out to the login screen. Tada! Not exactly /diy/, but I'm sure if you hang out a bit longer someone with discrete component knowhow will pop in and help you out. This place is a treasure trove of valuable-idea-people.

>>

Fill it with water
Put in a bucket full of water
Let it soak overnight
The label will fall off, like the labels on cheap shampoos in the shower.

Or get some goo gone.

And for gods sake stop sanding it.
>>
Spray with baking non-stick spray.
Wait 24-48 hrs
Remove label, wipe goo with paper towel.

For small jars, I've had success with putting them in an airtight container (like a ziplock baggie) with a little rubbing alcohol. (1/8 cup or less). Wait a couple days.

Can a chainsaw with a carbide chain cut stone?

I've been on youtube watching videos of Alaskan mills and I wondered if you put a garden hose on the jig to keep everything wet and cool, would you be able to cut stone like lumber.

How can you /diy/ stone cutting? Bonus points for fast, easy, and cheap. Kinda like how an Alaskan mill is much faster, cheaper, and easier than building a regular lumber mill.

Our posts were like 30 minutes apart so I had to link them together.

>>
>>941480

Fuck no.

The blade geometry is completely wrong. Chainsaw teeth are very aggressive. They are designed such that they actually want to pull themselves into the wood (this is also why so much as grazing a chainsaw blade will land you in the hospital for stitches at best), and if you look at the links, there are small protrusions that keep them from trying to bite too deep.

You don't want this kind of tooth for stone. Trying to use it will get you nothing but some jagged nicks in your rock and a lot of carbide fragments You want far, FAR less material removed per tooth. something more akin to what you'd see on a hacksaw. Theoretically, you could make a custom chainsaw blade that had such teeth, but that would be horrendously expensive. Even if that weren't an obstacle, you run into the issue of stone getting into the blade's track and ruining both it and the blade in what will likely be a fairly short period of time. Not to mention the load of shit that will end up in the rest of the saw.

Literally everything about the chainsaw is wrong for cutting stone. Just isn't going to happen.
>>
you'd need a rock chainsaw. and rock saw are usually used in sedimentary rocks since they're softer. 4-5 on mohs scale.

rock chainsaw are huge and mounted on rail.

otherwise you can buy a rock saw with a diamond blade and you can cut yourselve pieces of rock but they would be 1cubic feet max I believe..

Does anyone know if it is possible to carve with faux leather ?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
might as well try carving your carpet
>>
>>944979
No it´s not. Carving and stamping leather bases on the fact that water softens the leather and drying hardens it somewhat. Can´t do that with faux leather or with chrome tanned leathers. Only vegetable tanned leather is good for carving.
>>
>>944979
Any embosing on faux (PVC) leather is possible by hotstamping it. But you need acurate temperature control and it's very easy to scar the first layer.
