We do custom furniture where I work. Sketchup is definitely used, but for actual design from a low-level (think CNC use) we use CabinetVision and AlphaCam.

Did you get 120 neutral to ground with the light switched on or off?
A loose neutral could cause flickering, if you measured with the light switch on but the light bulb off you would get 120v neutral to ground because no current was flowing. So that's my guess is a loose connection. Check all the connections.

If you want to check the cable you can rent a proper tester that dumps high voltage through the cable to check insulation resistance as well as conductor impedances etc. Standard electricians kit.

Is there a possibility that you rolled wires somewhere? Could be that you have hot switched to ground at the J-box which would give you 120V to the L/N terminals at the outlet. Just speculation.

uhh, use one of those microsoft visual programming suites.
find the libraries required for getting your serial data and analyzing it. should just be STDIO.h or whatever. get it to print to screen. but before you do that, just write a simple terminal app that just gives you a periodic 1s update of the incoming data printed in plain text to a screen. once you can print that data to a screen then you can just input >> arbitrary output to any app. hell you could make winamp change song when you started working out and your heart rate went above a certain threshold. EYE OF THE TIGER KING OF THE POOP.

Jetpacks are a far way off. For full flight the fuel to weight is way off, closest would be the ductfan packs but thats not jets. The jets OP showed wont fly the fuel needed. Not to mention the rules, laws that literally keep us down. Hoverbike just started low untethered flights. Backpack helicopter guy still cant take off.

"Superglue" is absolute shit for anything other than repairing broken pottery and the occasional plastic model kit.

Two-part epoxy will hold fucking any thing to any other fucking thing. Grab one that lists both plastic and metal on the packaging. Should be about $5.

I had a similar problem with some other simulation software (livewire). Had a similar setup: transformer -> bridge -> caps -> regul -> caps -> load. For some reason, the bridge diodes keep exploding at the start of the simulation. Never solved the issue with the simulation, but our best guess at that time was that the unloaded caps (at the start of the simulation) were threated as a short circuit, making the diodes blow.
