I have a 16' camper that I'm taking down to just the base. I'm going to (hopefully) make a tiny house. I'm hoping to be self sufficient (for the most part). Meaning I want a composting toilet, water reserve, solar panels, and propane. Pretty inexperienced, and I'm curious if anyone has some suggestions or tips. Tried /adv/, but want to helpful. Google is too general. Suggested options? Cheaper alternatives? Pls halp.

my idea is making a half-dome type thing that you place on an iphone light using glass. SO anyone who blows glass might have a good perspective.
I'm thinking making cool half marbles that you place on your iphone to project a beautiful soft light

I know how you would do it but I don't know what you are asking?

Hi DIY!

>how can I build my own laptop?

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that is holding up very well, however it is soon time to upgrade.

I'm looking to build my own laptop from scratch, Ideally i'd like to order the parts and assemble at my house. How hard is this to do? Where can I get a "chassis" for a laptop? Am I better off buying an alienware or similar brand? Any good brands out there that are more under the radar?

Any other suggestions are welcomed. My budget is approx. 1000-1500 and I want top specs. ie. 16GB ram, 4gb graphics card, proper cooling, high rez screen, SSD, etc. I also want the computer to run iOS (apple software) not PC!

I work as a graphic and web developer however I play WoW occassionally and want the comp to handle extreme graphics.

Let me know!! Thanks

You might have more luck on /g/ but in general, building a laptop from scratch will cost more and be objectively worse than a bought one. Better to buy a laptop and upgrade/mod it.
>>
basically, you can't.

The closest you will come is going to apple's site and selecting limited options for your next macbook.
>>
>>949676
You can't build a laptop like a desktop, it is not a thing.

I live in a really rundown old place and when it gets cold, the sash window in my bedroom really seems to contribute to heat loss.

it's a rental home and the window's in poor shape with peeling paint and rotting wood.

is there an easy way to reduce heat loss that doesn't involve taking the window out? I suspect the wood might break if I removed it.

Is the same guy making the same exact thread every 2 months? Like at this point i'm sure it has to be a troll.

is this a commonly asked question? can I find answers in the archive somehow?

sorry.

since it's a rental and I'm assuming the landlord has been asked to fix the problem but wont, tape plastic over that shit. Clear if you wana see out of it, but I'd say fuck it and wrap the shit outa all that and forget looking out the window. The put a thick comforter over it.

Hey there /diy/

I happen to have the freedom of doing PMs on a production line that isn't running on our shift today at work, which involves FANUC robots. Anyone interested in learning about FANUC robots?

this one is a material handler. it picks up a part out of a cooling rack, sets it in a pierce unit, picks another, picks pierced part out, places New part, places finished part onto a poke-yoke fixture that also date stamps, then repeats. we make automotive suspension subframes and engine cradles.

added name for the thread. also, this is the teach pendant that you control the robot with.

finally got around fiinishing my book turned key hanger.
I used gelatine for glueing together the pages. I used twice the concentration as suggested for food applications and that shit’s now hard as a rock. Pre-drilling the holes for the hooks worked perfectly (during the drilling I clamped the pages together for good measure, though).
I used Tesa ® Power ® Strips™ to attach it to the wall.

Currently levelling my section and planting is coming up next. It's summer in kiwiland and I'm fucking dying in the heat.

Rotary hoe hired from the hire shop makes things much better. I probably couldn't do this with a spade.

Very nice.

I'm not sure if any of the guys (or girl) that do stuff ever frequent diy. Most have abandoned the place in the last year, to be replaced by whiny kids.

I can't get over how fast this board moves now, compared to days of yore, and how crap the content is.

Well done though OP, hope there's more where it came from

>basement wall starts leaking around a half-assed caulk job that was supposed to seal an old drain/water supply/gas line, not sure what it was
>no big deal, remove wad of caulking around pipe, seal with hydraulic cement
>water says fuck you, begins to travel to rest of wall, new patches force water to next brick, etc
>flush toilet and water sprays out of a hole I had yet to patch
>fuck, broken drain line behind house has to be problem
>have no money for professional fix atm

What's the best way I can either stop the leak (not likely, it's obviously just going to keep traveling the wall), or captchure the water so my basement doesn't smell like shit?

I'm going to get the drain fixed asap, but what's the best way to manage this leak in the mean time?

I can't get a picture my phone takes pics with huge file sizes apparently.

Water is going to seep through regardless, I live in michigan and it's almost spring.

I also don't live here either, I just stay during the weekends when I have time to fix the place up. Literally all I have is a toilet and a utility sink in the basement that never gets used.

Hello, i wanna design a preamp pedal for my SM58 microphone. Whats more useful or "right", putting the XLR in the IN or the OUT? I thought of putting a TRS mono in and a XLR out so it goes straight to the board.

Any thoughts?

Have input as XLR, output preferably both TS and XLR with option of line/instrument level.

>>949197

what happens if i do what i stated in Op, just TRS IN, XLR OUT? what are the risks?

I was exploring an abandoned building earlier today, now there was a pump which seemed to inject potassiumhydroxide into the ventilation system. There were also big jerrycans filled with potassiumhydroxide. I couldnt seem to find anything online about this. Does anhbody know why they would do this?

Don't know why it would be hooked up into ventilation but I'd say meth since it's in an abandoned building.

OP sometimes they run pipes inside air vents. or maybe you were not looking at an air vent at all but an access tunnel. anyway they use it for cleaning coils in HVAC systems.

Hey /diy/, this is my first thread here. I was wondering if I could get some advice for making handles for polearms, such as halberds, pikes, javilens, and so on. I was thinking about using some 1.5 X 48 inch dowel rods from Lowes or Home Depot. Any other suggestions would be great

As American Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) to that list. It is the strongest wood I know of personally. I use it for all my new tool handles now.
