i want to know how in the hell would i be able to see through the LEDS
17 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
I suppose a cheap, easy solution would be to paint the back and lower portion of the LEDs black, so that none of the light shines into your eyes. Of course, your vision would still be somewhat obstructed, but you could still see enough to avoid walking into things.
>>
>>950317
thanks for the advice
but do you think there would an alternative for the LEDs?
>>
>>950323
To be honest, probably not. LEDs are cheap, easy to work with, and most importantly lightweight, perfect for something worn on the head.

Of course, if you were only displaying a static pattern, you could fill the non-lit parts with some appropriately coloured plastic film, such as the type used on lamps/projectors. That'd let you see straight through the majority of the visor, and could still look pretty good, as long as you picked your colours right.

Check out that difference, doing great so far. I can already tell from the deep pits at the end of the blade we aren't going to be able to get this blade to look perfect in the end. I would have to shave off too much of the blade and it would end up too thin. Oh well, let's see what we can do.

Here are the pits up close. Unfortunately the rust was pretty bad over time so they went pretty deep.

how do i go about fixing a starting problem: can get the truck running only by injecting gasoline in a small hole of the carburetor.its a pain in the ass to always do this
16 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Have you cleaned the carb recently? Will it start again if it has been running recently? Have you run the line for any cracks/holes?
>>
Theres like an episode in season 2 of breaking bad, they do some shit with magnets and get the rv running, check that out
>>
i was told the carb looks clean, i believe it will once it gets going, no

my mechanic friend who died says it needed a manual choke. i dont understand the theory, because i still need to inject the gas

Hey /diy/. I was originally thinking of adding a friction drive to my bike for those times i'm feeling lazy. But I like my bike the way it is, so, how feasible is it to build one of these (specifically replicating that one wheeled hoverboard) and not have it be a gigantic deathtrap? There's some instructables that use arduino so it seems like it's at least possible? I get that for it balancing from front-back, but how about side to side? Also, IIRC the hoverboard pictured charges its batteries insanely fast (they're a lithium cell array, charges in like 15-20 minutes). How would I charge say a bunch of 18650 lithiums fast without it turning into the fourth of july?

>How would I charge say a bunch of 18650 lithiums fast without it turning into the fourth of july?
Liquid electrolyte lithium-ion round cells may be tempting for their somewhat better energy density, but if you're gonna push the charge rate past 1C/<1hr then you're probably better off with LiPoly batteries instead. I'm not saying charging round cells at 3-4C can't be done, but you're kinda in uncharted territory there.

Source? Motor? The hardest part is finding a motor that can be mounted, be balanced, and within spec. I don't know what kind of motor that is, but I'll take 10 for all my various projects.

Why does it have a wheel if it can hover?

Anyone here a car AC tech? This is driving me nuts, I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo that I've been trying to fix the AC system on for the past month and have already wasted so much money. Originally it had a weak AC that would only go could if I pressed the accelerator which I diagnosed to a weak compressor. Now I've replaced the AC compressor, evaporator, control valve and dryer and it's not getting cold at all. I've followed the procedure of flushing it out and then running a vacuum to boil out any moisture.

This is the readout on the manifold gauge, the low pressure line is high while the high pressure line is low. The compressor engages fine and I've already wasted $50 worth of AC coolant and it's still not getting cold with the same gauge results like this. What the hell is going on??

This is probably more of an /o/ sqt desu...

You more than likely though have a line leak somewhere...
>>
>>950126
High low-side and low high-side is almost always a compressor but can be expansion valve. Check to see if anybody installed an aftermarket filter in-line those things fuck everything up (if they did it would be on the low-side before the expansion valve.
>>
its the expansion valve most likely. this is what causes the compressed gas to expand into a liquid. if theres a blockage the gas cant expand properly and wont become liquid and thus wont get cold

Found this old radio today for $1 and got it working with just a battery

I have some knowledge with electronics is there anything I should customize on this to upgrade it? It doesn't have a attena so that would be the first place to start?

Any ideas? Thank you.

Yeah i think that kind just uses a standard telescoping antenna. Not sure what sort of upgrades you have in mind tho.

Anyone try this brand of stain?Im staining, well trying to stain a set of new unfinished kitchen cabinets. The guy at Ace talked me into choosing Zar over Minwax and now im not sure if this was a bad call.Cabinets are red oak, nothing fancy. The stain in pic came out nicely whitish on a tester board of pine paneling.my problem is after 3 coats my cabinets arent getting much whiter.im just seeing more of the wood grain.does this stain suck?is it the wood?do i just need more applications?
18 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
It won't make the wood whiter no matter how many coats you use. It's actually making the wood grain darker. The same stain on a different wood type will show a completely different shade and color.
>>
To get wood lighter in tone the general methods are either Bleaching or Pickling
These techniques are NOT stains
They require a different set of products unlikely to be at a BIGBOX store
Try Woodcraft or Rockler
>>
>>950888
We have Woodcraft here but is it too late since ive already applied this to half the cabinet units?were not unhappy with the results so far its just...different from what we expected.the cabinets still look nice with our counter tops so idk if a ton of effort is really necessary if those lightening techniques would add days to the process.we have a lot more to get to by our move in date.

How does a pc know what the hardware is, and info about it, when you plug it into a usb?

Specifically how does a computer k ow a game pad is a game pad and how many buttons or joysticks it has? And how could a normal person replicate this?

The computer talks to the peripheral and asks it what it is. The peripheral responds and tells the computer. That's basically it.

Obviously a scraper, but what's the best brand of Machinists straight edge you can get?
I need a 3x6x36 inch one, but I'm having trouble finding one that's not assloads of money.

Could I use a smaller one multiple times?
Will a square straight edge work instead of a camel back one?

No pics because I haven't got any of the mill, and I'm asking for advice on what tool I need.

>>
>>948696
You'll need the longer one because of the tolerancing involved. Don't cheap out on this, there's literally zero point if you're not going to do it right.
>>
>>949549
It's a half size mill, anon.
Forgot to mention that.
>>
>>948696
>Could I use a smaller one multiple times?

Technically yes, but it's not going to work as well. You simply aren't going to get as good a rub if you're trying to sort of "bridge" two flat areas with a small straightedge. Again, if you're bothering to scrape something, there's no point in half-assing it because the entire point of scraping is that it gives whole-assed results. Why spend hours and hours doing it if you can't get it to within a mil because your straightedge is too small?

>Will a square straight edge work instead of a camel back one?

Unlikely. The point of the construction of the latter is that it doesn't flex much. Can't have a straight straightedge if it's flexing, and even a little flex matters when you're talking about the kind of tolerances you want when scraping a bed/ways.

i know of robie house...

my foursquare is different then most ive seen online it has a straight staircase starting 3 feet from the front door in the middle in that wall and i havent found a layout with these feature i want to use... my goal is to blend classic style heritage and honor it at same time open it up, update it, and have contemporary convenience such as bedroom ensuite bathroom/laundry kit

Quote from lowes compressor buying guide:

>The CFM value changes as PSI changes. As you lower the PSI output, CFM increases.

My compressor is rated 5.65cfm @ 87psi (160 l/min @ 6 bar). How do I figure out how much air it blows at lower pressure, let's say 3 or 4 bars?
