How would I go about doing something like in the picture? Silliness of it aside, I think it looks neat and would be fun to implement. I don't know how to properly search for the parts I need because I don't know what the peices are called.

Thanks in advance.

Waterblocks

This is how i would go about it:
>Look for an online shop for industrial stuff which does sell to normal customers aswell.
>Buy tubing ( with noteably small width of the walls ) and then look for tube connectors for the same diameter.
>choose connectors which are cheep and copper or stainless steel.
>Try to find something made out of copper as a endpiece for cooling, or get a block (size as the chips you want to cool) and drill a hole halfway through.
>Try to cut off the piece of the connector holding the tube and attach it to the cooling block or even better find a connector that you can directly use.

This is just an idea from a person who worked with tubes similar to your pic before.
Might not be super efficient, but then again, it's a diy build and the point is that it should work atleast.
>>
I appreciate the input! I just hope the seals stay tight, I've heard bad things about custom water cooling solutions leaking. What do I do about the pump/radiator thing that cools the water?

What have you made out of pallets?

I came across some pallets and will probably make a couple stools and a table. But I'm looking for inspiration for other projects as well.

I have very noisy neighbors and frequently have trouble sleeping.
- No, talking to them did not help
- Yes, they are drug and alcohol effected degenerates.
- Yes, they are violent and dangerous.
- No, I'm not going to go RAMBO and do anything that could get myself locked up.
- No, the Police and council are not doing anything about it.
- No, I can't move because I have a lease.
- No, I can't stay at a friends house.
- No, I can't afford to sleep at a motel.
- No, I have no money to sue anyone.

Now that that's out of the way, I have thought of a solution to the problem that I need advice for.

I live a short distance from a forest, where I can sleep on the nights its to noisy to do so at my house.
I want to build a shallow "water proof" , "sound proof" bunker about 2.4m long, 1m wide, and 1m deep.
I snore pretty loud, and want to sleep underground to mask the sound. I plan to cover the bunker with mass loaded vinyl(sound proofing) supported with ply wood with a few air holes over the top.

The forest is used infrequently by hikers and cyclists. And sometimes groups of teens go there to drink and do drugs.

Concealing my presence in this way seems like the logical solution to avoiding detection.
I want to avoid detection when sleeping for my safety.

I have a bad back, bad hip, and bad knees.
I will have to do this myself.
I'm patient and can do it slowly over a few weeks.
I might be able to borrow a car.

So I hope I've explained what I'm trying to do well enough, I also hope I can get some good advice as to if this is possible to do with my limited ability's and how to do it cheaply.

Thanks all.

arson, or planting a faulty one-pot meth lab sounds like a more logical response than fleeing to the woods to simply try and get some sleep

You're literally going to build a spider hole to sleep in? That's insane.

Hi, I'm a weldor. I work in the steel industry located in America. In short, I fabricate the steel members required to build buildings, and then erect them. I wouldn't mind providing insight into my work, from the processes used to fabricate the steel to welding tips, ask away. I'll post some pics I took for content. This one is MIG welding a hand railing.

I get weird artifacts occasionally when printing sometimes. Some layers appear to be shifting. How to fix?

Running a prusa i3 clone and slic3r.
>>
I'm pretty much convinced that I need to buy a 3d printer.

Before I get into this hobby, how much can I realistically expect to spend? I've been eyeballing that monoprice printer for $350 but I'm afraid that after I buy that I will realize that I just need to spend more on another printer for reasons.
>>
>>949936
If it shifts there should be gaps on the other side. Are you sure it's not over-extruding or not being cooled quickly enough?

Lets have a thread where we discuss gimmicky tools, for good or best.

>What tool are you ashamed of buying that looked cool at the time?
>Ever bought a tool you thought would be great only to be worthless and/or stupid?
>Ever bought a tool you thought would be worthless and/or stupid and turn out to be great?
The more "features" the better

Thought of this when I saw this screwdriver and had to have it, it's powered, lights on the tip, a small wire stripper on the side, a slot below the bit where you can coil wire, and when you hold down a button it beeps when you bring it near live wires.
Got it thinking it'd be great when I was doing some CNC milling as I could quickly remove/tighten alignment screws without having to take my workpiece out of the clamps, turns out the wire detection is also pretty handy for checking cat5's (A bit less than it could be though as my hand sets it off)

Also of note, an autoloading screwdriver from ThinkGeek years ago, it's actually crazy useful since I got the electronics size and it means instead of keeping up with a using 6 tiny screwdrivers, I've just got 1 of a proper size

The use of a Dremel tool is only limited by your imagination, you can seriously do pretty much anything with them
>Firing pin plunger in my dad's old pistol broke
>Go buy a drill bit with a shank the right size
>Cut out notch with my trusty old B&D Versa Pak
>Cut off the shank at the length I need
>Shit works
>Go out and buy a Dremel 4000 the next day because fuck the age of the Versa Pak really showed against that tough drill bit

But anyways, you can basically do anything with a rotary tool (Disclaimer: Does not mean you should)
Stupid shit I've done, mostly in HS when our robotics team only power tool was a dremel like the one you posted
>Cutting and perforating sheet metal for bending
>Cutting Lexan as well as knocking out holes for bolts
>Cutting fiberboard and plywood
>Cutting a piece of 3" hex bar stock (Would not recommend)
>Breaking cutoff wheels and embedding them in our safety glasses/the walls
>Cutting hose for air lines
>Drilling pilot holes in wood
I'm sure I can think of more stupid bullshit, we were planning to bronze the thing when it finally broke but it just never gave up
>>

I get what you're saying but without wanting to sound like a pretentious prick, I have tools better suited to task.

I don't really know where to put this thread so I decided this is the best board for it.
My girlfriend bought a new apartment and now she wants to put heating in it. She has no gas or central heating available. By my estimate there are only two viable options : AC + 2 electric radiators or 2 ACs and one electric radiator. She has a 70m^2 apt with 3 rooms. Any more ideas or suggestions ?
24 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>961887
I dont speak communism, so i dont understand the size of the apartment, but you could try a multi head minisplit, which is actually a good solution to a 3 bd apt
>>
>>961890
>I don't speak communism
I chuckled.

70m^2 is equivalent to approximately 750 ft2. Which is pretty damned small, so yeah, maybe it's communism after all.

Incidentally, I have one AC and one electric heater in my 1400 ft2 office, so I don't see what the choice is, unless by "AC" you don't mean "air conditioner".
>>
>>961890
Well I'm not gonna argue about the metric system. Can you elaborate on that multi head minisplit ?
>>961899
70m^2 is actually a medium sized apt in Europe.
I do mean air conditioner. I am not familiar with American terminology.

How do y'all feel about primitive tech ?
47 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
It's a lovely hobby but doesn't have a lot of practical use. In a survival situation you'd be better off suited with basic survival knowledge rather than knowing how to make a stone hatched. Hut building might come in handy in a long term situation, but if you're in for the long run you'd be long past mud huts.
As I said, it's a lovely hobby.
>>
>>952822
In a survival situation you are better off knowing everything. You can turn a survival situation into a thriving situation a lot easier. Basic survival knowledge is easy and doesn't take very long to master.

But, taking a week out of a year to train for survival in anything from primitive technology to medical aid is never wasted and shouldn't be considered a hobby. However, spending a greater portion of your pastime doing these things would be considered a hobby.
>>
>>953056
A week is a long time. I love going "survival camping" where legal to do so, bringing nothing but my clothes and a map/compass. Shits fun as fuck, but it isn't a super practical skill unless you regularly spend time way past the edges of civilization. If you know what you are doing, and you tell people where you are going, making yourself get found in a few days isn't difficult at all
