Hey guys been in my house 5 years. Got a stupid size laundry room 25x13. The furnace, and water heater are in a dumb place. Any ideas on where i can move stuff or build things for more space. Need some ideas on what i can do with this fucking room. Building is not an issue im pretty handy and my dad been in the construction for 35 years.

I don't have a working camera atm so no pictures, but I have a creek which stretches for several miles off my property. It flows into a pond, and then through a drain onto the rest of our valley. I've been cobbling together a tiny dam setup using large creek rocks and grass turf. I also use moss and the river plants to build a little land bridge with an outlet for the water in the middle. I've been concreting flat stones into the bridge with mud. The hope is that the grass roots grow and connect, creating a rope like barrier holding the rocks and dirt in place. Plus the river plants and moss would possibly block any water that might threaten the integrity of the bridge. The bridge has been in place for several days now and I'm just curious if it will last and if my theory is correct.

So I have had this guitar for several years now.
Pic isn't mine but exact guitar with different pick ups. Recently the coil tap on the tone knob stopped working correctly and has to be engaged to have tone at all. And also the switch works in rhythm but lead has a short and if I flick it enough it works.. is there anything I can do short of driving it 30 miles to the closest music shop

According to Dave, disuse can cause oxidation of guitar electronics. He says first thing to try is working the shit out of them: roll your pots back and forth like crazy for several seconds with the side of your hand, flip your switches the same way, then blow them out with compressed air if that fails. It's free, won't hurt the parts of they really are broken, and quick. And Dave's pretty damned cool, so it's worth a shot.

So, I just had a random thought and hope this board is the correct place for it. You do have some high-tech stuff here, so I think it's at least somewhat appropriate.
How likely would it be to create a system that scans a signature on a piece of paper and then perfectly replicates it with a pen?
I can't even begin to think how I would use such a thing, as I'm not sociopathic enough, but it seems to be a fun thought excercise to relate technological progress to long-standing legal practice. I'd be surprised if no one has tried this yet and if the law doesn't have something to say about it, but then again, I'm constantly baffled by certain technologies apparently not being in active use anywhere.
I imagine a signature forging device would work best by scanning the page on both sides to find the exact depth of the imprint, as well as having presets for different kinds of paper to interpret the scan properly.
To then write the signature, it would have a bunch of presets that can identify the guiding lines of a signature field, if available, with a camera, as well as a randomizing algorithm to make the signature a plausible variation of a person's signature.
Would a system similar to a 3D printer's axes be enough to forge a signature or would you need something capable of changing the angle of the pen for proper effect?

So basically the only place it would make sense to do this is autographs from deceased people. Even then, how many autographs from George Washington do you realistically could pass off before you were called out? Not to mention it would be much cheaper to just find the signature and copy it using a light table.

Hello /diy/,
I've always wanted a garden since I was little and I'm really interested in growing my own food.
That being said I live in a shitty apartment with no garden and I won't get one in the near future.
I live fairly close to the edge of town though and know a few pieces of land close to a river that no one seems to frequent or care about. Pretty secluded and "innawoods".
What tools do I need to clear some space for gardening? I'm thinking of setting up in the middle of some overgrown field so my plot will be harder to spot. I'll need a hoe, a watering can, a trowel, maybe a small rake.
What else would I need to clear some space? Wha kinds of natural fertilizers might I be looking for that I could mix into the soil? What are the easiest veggies to grow with minmal tools? Lettuce, carrots and beans?
I'm an absolute beginner and a bit strapped for money so I'd like to keep everything as basic as possible. I don't mind getting dirty or working with my bare hands.

Hi guys I need help. It's midnight and I've had a leaky faucet for a few months presumably. I just checked and the problem is in the basement sink. The copper pipe is sexposed and all the way fro faucet to the tank there's no valve. The issue is in the hot water part. Can I some how just temporarily block the faucet? Can't really find a solution. Thanks.

Let it keep dripping.
Tomorrow turn the water to the house off, and replace the seats and springs of the faucet, or if its a shit faucet just replace the whole thing.
Its odd to not have a shut off valve, you can install one pretty easily and cheaply if you wanted to though.

Yea it's a basement sink and it's all hot water. the last water bill was 2x regular.every 3 month period was ~80 m^3 but the last one was 120m^3
Mainly there's no shut off valve fro hot water from that faucet to the heater. Basement is unfinished so all the pipes are exposed. It's also not dripping it's basically pouring, when the hot water valve is off.

What's a reliable, homemade heating pad?
I keep seeing sock with rice, and I've tried that, but I'm scared it will burst into flames one day, it had been browning after some use
I really want something that has good transfer to the skin, so I can get it hot and wrap something around it for insulation and keep it warm for awhile

I recently fucked up my thumb and used 2 cups of rice in a sock. Nuke for 1 minute. Rice isn't going to burst into flames OP and it's cheaper than buying a hot water bottle.

I recently bought a server rack with an ibm blade center H and blade center E but they require so much power that I would need to get a contractor but I was wondering what parts I should get for this to be easier and if there was a way I could do it myself.

How big is the run from your switch box to the rack? How much power is your rack going to need? Does it need an ups system? I don't reccomend running the cable or hooking up to the switchboard yourself but knowing what you want is going to make getting a lower quote easier.

Idk how much it's going to need cause I've never run it before but the H has 4 2880W power supplies and the E has 4 1800W ones. I have 2 ups alreday, one of them plugs directly into the wall and the other needs to be wired in as well. The run is not very far and I already have a lot of heavy duty cables

So my shower is leaking, dripping from the ceiling below.
I specifically put the shower head facing directly the drain for 5 minutes, nothing. Sprayed it on the edges, and it started leaking. So it's leaking from the grout
How do I resolve this issue?
