Hey guys
Thinking of making a small scaled model of the tiger ll. What kind of wood should i use? Wood that could be.cut should be okay but i don't know what type of wood to use. It should be a bit flexible but strong and easy to cut. Help pls

Hey anon where are you getting the schematics?
>>1220008
Made them in autocad
How small is "small" and how will it be used/displayed?
I mean, "small" in relation to a fucking Tiger II could include anything from a little shelf ornament to something your 4 year old kid could ride in the hatch on
So /diy/ I am curious about casting, specifically with pouring materials.
right now I'm in the mood for casting shoe insoles shaped specifically for my feet. the thing is, platinum cure silicone is fucking expensive, tin cure silicone warps when it shrinks, and I have no clue on what the fuck to do with any other materials, especially when it comes to cost. TPE-related stuff I find is either "business, not hobbyist" or "hobbyist but no material-related info whatsoever". Foam, I have not looked up much on that, other than the pot time is atrociously fast and that it needs a plaster support.
how does /diy/ cast?
thermoplastics and TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) are not the kind of materials you cast exactly , look up thermoset or liquid silicon, check tapp plastic i think its called does a lot of hobby stuff with MSDS and shit
"Platinum-Cure Silicone"
For most of my silicone casting I use cheap off the shelf silicone sealant and paper molds. If you make your molds out of paper taped together or dried paper mache or dried paper pulp, the silicone will dry, then the paper washes off after soaking making a matte finish surface. It works for 1 1/2 inch thick castings, I haven't tried thicker.
Hi all. Hoping to install a CCTV 4 camera system for perimetral surveillance in home, but I am looking for a way to avoid drilling holes in birck and stone facade. Found these that use PoE, wich is great, cause I can use the electrical corrugated tubing to bring the single ethernet cable.
Still, I do need to cut the connector in order to pull the cable through. Does anyone know if this PoE connectors are regular RJ45 ???
>>1219467
POE will use an ethernet cable, hence the name.
>>1219467
Yes they are male rj45s required to plug in at the device end.
Testers help. I wrap mine with mastic and vinyl after I'm sure it's ok on the camera end. Probably overkill.
How do I program the hotkeys on my drawing tablet? I purchased the Adesso Cybertablet T12 yesterday and can't seem to find any answers online.
>>1219408
Bump for interest. I own a very similar UGEE model.
Quick question here:
Does UV resistant, transparent finish protect underlying epoxy from UV decay?
>>1219334
> Quick question here
If only we had some sort of recurring thread specifically for questions like this, and some sort of index to find it with..
>>1219334
If it truly blocks UV then it blocks UV and it doesn't depend on anything under it.
I have some pressure treated wood where part of a board is covered by 1/8" lexan. That part still looks pale brown like when it was purchased. The exposed part is grey.
I don't know how effective the UV coatings are or how often they have to be re-applied, but if they work, they work.
Anyone have a good simple chewing tobacco recipe, nothing but shitty DIY guides on google with missing steps.
My goal is to use it to build an electrolaser.
I already posted a burning laser on the same youtube channel.
thoughts?

I want to set up a DVR to connect wirelessly to my router, then cameras which will wirelessly connect to said DVR. How do?
>>1219191
> First ask Google, then ask /diy/. Your question will probably be better received if you do so.
>>1219194
I tried looking for a solution on Google, but the problem is I can't find how I would connect a camera to a DVR as IP cameras don't convert to Analog and I can't figure out how to connect a Analog to the DVR wirelessly while then connecting it to the router as each DVR seems to have requirements per what adapter it would need to do so. I need advice on what type of DVR and Cameras to connect then what adapter would link my router with said DVR.
>>1219204
You connect the cameras via their IP addresses. As long as they are on the same network, wireless or wired, it will work. This is assuming that both your DVR and your cameras are wireless capable. BTW, you aren't using a standard TV DVR are you? That shit won't work. You need one that is made specifically for CCTV systems. Don't know why you are even talking about 'analog' whatever.
Finally, wireless camera setups suck. You run out of bandwidth very quickly and their range is very limited. It is much better to use ethernet cameras and power-over-ethernet setups. You can run more cameras at higher resolution and higher frame rates with no bandwidth bottlenecks.
so this is my fire hazard, /diy/. Australia, 240V single phase here.
I am replacing the distribution box because fuck this. only problem is that the main power feed to the distribution box goes straight from the 100A fused connection at the feed in point to two sets of 4mm copper twin cables. I cant work out how to load balance the cables for breaker purposes. a single pole wouldnt protect each run separately and a 2 pole breaker wont appropriately provide over current protection to the two separate neutral wires.
the power company installed a new fancy wireless power meter but they did so ilegally. the wiring is absolute shit and they never mentioned it. here in queensland we have power meters with the wires installed so that they're not accessible, with a fuse in the meter box and security tags so you dont fuck with it. In my house, the main feed runs straight to the distribution box, runs a loop over 6mm wire to the meter and back to the distribution box. so I can easily jack power like a nigger because I can just bypass the meter at the distribution box and nobody will be the wiser.
I just wanted to run a new line from the distribution panel so I was sure that i had a good earth and GFCI connections.
did i also mention that over the years there have been a few electricians who have worked on this panel, running wires for appliances etc and they never mentioned that there is no main breaker, capacity for over 100A in all the breakers, an ancient bakelite main switch marked 35A from the 40s and the poor little 40A RCD hasnt been produced in over 20 years and is an RCD not a RCBO but wired with two neutral wires instead of a ground wire and seemingly wired under the assumption that it provides over current protection?
fuck man, cant trust tradesmen to just tell you that the wiring they're working on will literally burn down your house AND totally willing to install extra loads. how could they see that electrical tape in the distribution panel and be ok?
forget load balancing, your on single phase. Get a consumer unit and put everything in it's own device. Be it a rcbo or a rcd
>>1219183
rcd = gfci without mcb. that means ground fault protection but no over current protection.
I have a ABB type 2 over voltage protection device i am installing in the new box as well. it has a nominal protection of 20kA, max of 40kA and maximum of 50kA breakdown current. so i probably need an industrial 1P MCB with a 50A rating if i downrate the cables to 25A each, max impulse current rating of 50kA, a lot of the nominal 8kA units do this.
oh btw, the reason im not using a RCBO(gfci+MCB) is because protection devices should be installed after the main switch and main circuit breaker but not downstream from a GFCI because the impulse current can break them.
So I'm making a color organ that I'm trying to only use for big base notes, (like a drum beat), so i snagged a low pass filter out of a old subwoofer amp that i had and have been trying to merge it and my arduino together. So my problem is that i have a 5.1 system already, and i was just planning on adding a y connector to the center/bass channel and have that compress to mono and run thru the low pass into the Arudino. Arduino sees that a beat hits and turns the leds onto a different color. Does anyone have any tips onto how i imput straight speaker wire (from a amp) into a arduino and read it?
Note i just have a test led on right now, the strand of lights im using is a "12mm Diffused Digital RGB LED Pixels Lights Ws2811" just a simple 3 line color changing led (no clock line)
>>1218838
>straight speaker wire (from a amp) into a arduino and read it?
depending on the line level you can just use a voltage divider, or you can get serious and use a op amp to reduce the gain and add bias and then the AVR ADC can read it properly.
Another approach is to feed it into the anacomp and count the peaks which is how spectrum analyzers work so you can vary the led color with the frequency
How feasible is this to replicate. Maybe with a different resistive material.

Im looking to make a surface capacitive toupad. Obviously not multitouch but something replicable like this.
Im considering buying a touchpad from a laptop on ebay but what Im considering building is very grass roots and doing so loses a lot of its appeal.

Was hoping to use something like
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1309
>ITO coated PET plastic
>>1218677
that looks pretty cool OP. Limor is nice about answering questions so you might contact her.
Adafruit is probably the best source for /diy/ electronics outside of china and malaysia.
Hey guys first time in /diy/ so hope its the right place... So im thinking on buying my very first 3d printer, i have about 3k to spend on it. I was looking online and youtube and i saw that there are alot of them but some you have to assemby so i want one that is already built and that is more reliable and has good quality. I will only be using it for fun and to do some home decor... I was looking at raise 3d n2 plus, flashgorge 3d creator pro and lulzbot... So what do you guys think what would be better for a begginer or know a better one
Hello
I'm trying to help my mother with some pivot tables, but neither of us know shit about them.
Do you guys happen to know some helpful pivot table tutorials on the world wide web?
use excel or a free alternative > enter data > mark tables > right click display as diagram > choosee the look you like
>>1218198
You could just use google for any generic tutorials, or explain in more detail what you are trying to do if you need some actual help.
That said you can have a look here: http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/excel-pivot-tables.htm
Job I'm on says they used Sikkens Water based.. is that a product(water)?
didn't know Sikkens made water bases.
how do you finish your decks? thanks
repair a decent deck
Thank you
tl;dr
does or has Sikkens ever made a water based stain?
>me'll
I think you mean I'll
>>1218332
>does or has Sikkens ever made a water based stain?
I don't think so. We use pic-related which is alkyd. In my opinion Sikkens is overrated a lot like Benjamin Moore paints.
My plan for a lowboard i want to make.
I only have access to a stick welder, could that be too much for the 2mm wall thickness of the tubing?
>>1217894
Tubing is 3x3cm.
>>1217894
>I only have access to a stick welder, could that be too much for the 2mm wall thickness of the tubing?
got some scrap to try it on?
>>1218002
I will do that first, need to buy new electrodes though. Any tips that will help with the thin material except going fast?
