So how to I make patches /diy
>>1103707
you sew them, maybe you should ask in /cgl/ about it
>>1103707
/k/ has whole threads about patches, but I think they get them made by some manufacturer.
depends on the level of quality you want
you can print onto fabric, then glue that onto a thicker piece of something
you can order them, but you will probably have to buy them in quantities
you can do kind of a photo transfer thing using a printed paper copy and modge podge
you could use an iron transfer tshirt kit
you can learn to embroider
>>1103721
/out/ does as well
the more well known guy I've seen orders them from someplace in asia I believe
I managed to peice back together a broken mug, but what is the best food safe filler and sealer I can use to complete the repair?
>>1103530
Molten lead
>>1103530
Just swing by a thrift store and replace the mug. Not much you can do once the ceramic is chipped. Very difficult to find a glue that is waterproof+food safe+microwave proof+high temp.
>>1103530
Just get a new one for a couple of bucks. Its not worth your time and effort
Do these desktop-type fume extractors even do anything? Why are these glorified bathroom fans so damn expensive? Should i just stick a filter onto the business end of a vaccuum cleaner and call it a day?
>>1103448
What do you want to accomplish?
Would it be easier/cheaper to do whatever you want outside and pick up a respirator instead ?
>>1103455
I already own a gasmask with filters, just wondering what a viable solution is for a home electronics lab. A brand name Hakko or Weller extractor costs like 500$ and that seems pretty ridiculous to me.
If it's something on your desk, consider one of these cheap $80-ish fume hoods for airbrushing. It comes with a hose and a fan to vent it out a window.
Other than that, you can make a much higher power one like I have. Take a plastic cloths or storage bin, cut it so it can lay flat on a table, put an AC filter on the bottom of it, cut a hole in the back of it and pick up one of those super cheap fart fan bathroom fans from Home Depot and just pick up some hose to attach it.
My dear friend has a broken lada, and he can't get it fixed anywhere because it is as old as time. It can't be turned on, and probably needs a whole new engine, but where can you get lada engines or how do you fix one? He really needs it fixed soon.
>>1103447
Parts are pretty common if you're in eastern europe, if you're anywhere else you might have to look online. AFAIK they share a lot of parts between models so it doesn't have to be for your exact one.
>>1103447
Check any local junk yards. Pulling and dropping a engine are something you two shouldn't be doing considering you're asking here.
>>1103453
I think I'll go check a few junkyards out tomorrow, thanks.
what to do? salt?
Fan and towels

Hi DIY,
In februari a friend and I will start a little hobby company. We hope it will be a bit bigger and profitable in the future, but first just start because our passion.
The main idea is to design and build climbing holds and volumes.
Now have we checked different youtube movies about it and read a lot of different articles about it, but we havn't spoken to someone who already did this and got great results.
Is there someone on DIY who could help us out with just some pictures, tips and tricks to get the best results.
Please contact kik:grandojo
Cheers!
First, you need to consider why people should buy from you? What do you have to offer compared to other suppliers? Specifically, if you're charging more or the same (since you don't have a reputation) for a comparable product, what makes your product special. If you're going cheaper, how do you intend to compete with economies of scale large manufacturers are enjoying the benefits of?
>>1103265
True we thought about it.
We want to create good quality holds for a normal price. I have 16 years of experience with climbing and my friend is climbing for like 10 years now.
The holds we're gonna make will be the "indoor" holds for different climbing and bouldering areas. We climb outside almost every month so we really want to spend some time to create nice holds.
We don't want to copy the rock, but there must be similar features on the hold tho.
All this above is our idea for the company.
We're working on our business plan right now and we're not gonna start with goals that are to hard to reach.
We will have most fun to build our own holds and when when we are ready for it we're gonna sell them.
So even if the company will fail, we still are able to create our own good climbing holds and thats what its all about.
Our passion
You might want to consult someone with knowledge on liability law, insurance and contracts. Just in case someone ends up permanently disabled and decides you're to blame.
What DIY steps can I take to prevent catching seasonal flu and other illnesses?
Kill self
Become shut in, have groceries delivered, convert front of house into isolation room, clean all packages with bleach and heat. Make sure you wear a full radiation suit with supplied air.
Get a vaccination.
Wash your hands all the time, use hand sanitizer after touching anything in public
Dont be around people that cough, look or act sick.
Theres no way to avoid it. You can strengthen your immune system so they dont hit as hard or last as long, but if you have to deal with people or go places people go you'll probably get it.
Or go sars grade autism and wear a mask around in public.
>>1103233
if you don't catch the flu, the flu wins

Is it possible to cook up my own vaccaine?
I have a shitload of food grade plastic lying around and a heatgun.
What could I create with this stuff? Perhaps a cutting board?
Give me some ideas.
>>1103133
You could wrap up a few tons of imitation crab meat.
food grade plastic you say?

Newgger here, I have a shitty LG tracfone and I was wondering if I could put the tracfone's SIM card and put in a s5 galaxy and make it basically work the same as the LG tracfone (like buy minutes and put it into the galaxy instead of the LG)?
>>1103112
unlock
Can you be a little more specific?
If your new phone is unlocked or locked but to the same provider as your old phone then no problem. You just need to check that the sim size s the same.
This took about a year. We had a company do the steel balconies and stairs. Otherwise it was all done /diy/ style.
>>1103105
Nice, hope the gentrification keeps up so you can get some ROI in the future.
>>1103107
Yeah, it's happening.
Some other pics
I'm kind of lost from /g/ , maybe /dyi/ could guide me to download and install Mitchell OnDemand5 and alldata
btw, what is your demonym, like /g/entlemens or /b/tarts or fa/tv/irgins, /diy/nosaurs is the most common apparently

When I fill up the right sink the left one gets backed up. What do?
>>1102846
Snake it.
>>1102846
>When I fill up the right sink the left one gets backed up
blockage within red box causes water to go to other side through pipe marked in blue
>>1102846
>What do?
remove blockage
>>1102846
Turn your head about 90 degrees to the left.
Ask the man to fix it for you.
I managed to buy my hick self a punching bag and a rack (pic related). But alas the wall Im installing the rack on is too thin for them BBC screws. Any ideas on what I could do? Initially thought maybe buy some wood, stick that on the wall and then screw the rack onto that?
>>1102722
>the wall Im installing the rack on is too thin
why would the thickness of the wall matter when it would have to go into studs anyway
>>1102723
uwotm8?
>>1102722
your wall wont hold up that shit
you need to build a new wall
This is my goal, using 2 pieces of wood to hold up my soundbar. I need help on how to make it a bit more stable without ruining the look I'm going for in the pic.
>>1102690
Right now this is the big problem where the two pieces of wood join up at , I have my cables coming out of the hole and I would need to cut the wood in such a way as to give space for the cables, while still maintaining stability. I am wondering on a decent way of going about this
use an X instead of a V
miter the ends so they sit flush
here are just some more pics of what I'm dealing with
What are some cheap tools to rent or buy to get the job done
Hey /diy/ bros. I'm a very amateur wood worker, aiming to be a luthier as an end goal. My question is, can you make a box, using only box/finger joint? Not only the sides but also the top and bottom. I am wondering because I am having some redwood sent to me in slabs and I lack the proper tools to make a real guitar body, so I want to make a simple box. My problem is lack of experience so I decided to turn to you guys for help. Pic not very related.
>>1102437
If the intent is to make a strait up box, you would be better of making it with an inset top and bottom. You could do box joints but you don't really gain anything from it. They are harder to do then more traditional methods and no stronger.
That said, yeah, you can do it.
>>1102437
You could, but it's not the most effective. Using a dado, rabbet or groove joint for the top and bottom is a lot easier to do at no cost in strength. Finger/box joints just aren't needed when you have that much surface area to work with.
It would probably look cool though.
Hey guys. Op here. These are the plans I have right now. They are very early of course and still doing some theory crafting but any tips?
