So why hasn't anyone started building a flying saucer yet?

There appears to be tons of declassified info on flying saucer technology.

How come nobody is building these?

They think its clickbait? Licenses aren't issued for them because of reasons?

Actually there's tons of ayy level technology available. We can build stuff that was science fiction fantasy in the 50s and 60s.

Why does nobody do it? I'm too stupid/retarded/brain damaged but man it'd be awesome to have a flying saucer.

Some people want a yacht but a spaceship is real tempting.

.... Technically yea you are correct but dude....

How come nobody is using any of the old declassified aerospace research to build a legit "UFO" level flying saucer?

Is this wood pressure treated???
I hope not, already used it for 2 pieces in my room.

The wood was left by a company that raises houses. So these are the blocks that they raise the house up on.

I don't see any discoloration that looks like it is treated. The outside might have had some stray oil on it from whatever they were using it for. Looks like tool paint on the one side.

it would look off color on the inside too right?

why would it matter, you're not generating sawdust or burning it are you?

Sup /diy/. I think something has died in the wall space of my apartment. The smell has been really bad for about a month now and is coming from a not entirely sealed part of the seam between the wall and the floor. I am planning to remove the lath and close the gaps with filler, but i wonder if there is some better way to fix this? I read online that a dead animal in the wallspace should be consumed by maggots in about a week so i have a fear that my downstairs neighbor, an elderly gentleman, might have died. Will check on him tomorrow.

On some you have to unscrew the screw out completely before, in order to get the rubber off.

sup /diy/

long story short, I bought a second hand folding bike and I want to make it some maintenance (mostly cleaning, painting, etc).

questions:

how can I clean rust in chrome?
how can I paint over chrome?
do I have to completely disarm the bike to make he cleaning and painting?
a simple painting will do it? I want to paint everything black as my soul.

I wanted to post this in /n/ but I realize that they will just tell me to send it to a bike workshop.

Pic not related.

>>
Bearings might need to be repacked or replaced. Black is kind of a dumb color for a bike, but paint it whatever color you want.
>>
if you want to do it right...

I'd take it apart, give everything a good cleaning, decide what will be painted, sand/grind/blast down the surface, paint, then use a clear coat on top
>>
>>1124235
Wd-40 and steel wool. Make shitty chrime new again.

Paint chrome?

No.

Either oaint every year or soend 199 bucks blasting it off to paint.

I have been trying to DIY my own power bank for a while now using step up circuits but the problem I keep running into is that they're either too expensive to consider over an actual power bank from a reputable brand, or that they're simply too inefficient.

Pic is the results from my latest attempt with the mt3608 step up circuit. That's a measly 66% efficiency when capped at half an amp output.

I need your help /diy/. Is there anything I can do to improve efficiency of this? I don't mind keeping it at 0.5A output, but I want at least 80-85% efficiency if the output is so low.

This is my first diy project and I'm no electrician so I really appreciate any help I can get.

The black thing with 222 written in it was extremely hot during the 1A output test.

Not sure what it is. Transistor?

Could I replace it with a more efficient one? Or am I wrong in thinking it would have much impact on efficiency?

the little 222 thing by the blue potentiometer? that's probably part of the voltage divider and should not be hot at all. the entire board is getting hot i imagine and that's not the problem.

if you mean the '220' you could replace it with a 22uH inductor with a lower resistance

What's a resonable price per unit on Cinder Blocks if I'm planning on using about 100-150 of them?

I want to build a two or three block high half-wall to line one side and the back of my driveway, partially to keep the grass out of my gravel and partially to edge things up and make them look nice. I also plan on using the open tops of the top layer to put some soil and flowers in for the wife.

Use real masonry bricks and a tad bit of rebar ties, the green ones. So you can fill them with gravel to hold, and put a nice capstone on top. It will do much better to edge and improve the aesthetics of a property than traditional cinder blocks.

I need to automatically start my car for a set amount of time in the event of the voltage dropping down to 10V or 11V.

Bypasing the security in this car is easy.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to determin when the voltage level is reaching unnaceptable levels and trigger the car start/stop?

Im decent at soldering, and am more than willing to assemble a circuit, and I know C so programing a chip isnt too much of an issue.

You can get a remote start kit. Is your battery draining or something?
>>
Well, seems like a descent job for a cheap volt meter and an arduino.

Not smart enough to help. Bump for interest tho. I would like to rig mine to a timer. It doesnt have remote start but m-f i start my car af the same time.
>>
>>1123457
Yea, it doesnt like the cold. Also its just getting old, but its got plenty of juice to start the car. I just cant leave it sit for a couple days or else I have to jump it. But if I let it run for 20 minutes It will start up the next day.
Just cant justify the price of a whole new battery yet.

Also after dealing with this, I jsut want to know the car is watching the battery for me.

right now my concerns are the car wont shut off and will drain the tank if I dont hear it running (i should but covering bases here), and my biggest concern is the device tries to start the car again when its allready running.. need a good way to detect the car is running. Im thinking of having it only work when voltage is (9.5V < volts && volts < 11V)

This way it (with a nonfailing alternator) will not start when the car is running since the on voltage should be around 14V, and if it doesnt have enough power to turn over the motor it wont even try, so it doesnt burn out the starter motor.

Lately when I turn on my hot water in my shower the pipes whistle and they vibrate, however today the vibrating was extremely loud and I could physically feel the vibrating. It was sort of a hum getting louder each second until I turned it off, which occurred about maybe. 2-3 seconds after I turned it on. At first I thought it was no big deal, however now I'm thinking it may be the water heater. Should I attempt to fix this or just call in a pro? I usually browse here for many things but never anything plumbing related.

Need some good ideas to put on my wedding registry so it's not a giant fuck list of kitchen gadgets and bath towels.

I have no need for any specific tools right now, but what would be good that I might use some day?

I have:
>cordless drills and impact drivers
>corded drill
>table saw
>compound miter saw
>4x sanders (belt, oscillating)
>hand tools up the wazoo
>ratchets and sockets and everything
>air compressor (30 gallon nice one)
>air tools (nailers all sizes, needle scaler, paint sprayer, air blower, tire inflator, cutoff tool, d a few random others)
>hole saws
>drill bits and sets x 3
>center punches
>oxy/acetylene welder setup
>channel locks
>wrenches and all sorts of shit

Basically I have a ton of shit already. Need some more though! Never enough tools.

OP here, also have

>tile saw
>sawzall
>buckets of painting equipment (rollers, pans, brushes, etc)
>electrical related tools like soldering iron, connectors, wire strippers, etc
>bench drill press
>kreg tool thing
>dowel kit
>heavy duty corded routers x2
>circular saw
Will update with things if I can even remember

If you don't have any, a good Forstner Bit set is fantastic.

Also, a table belt/disc sander if you don't have one is great.
