So I have this old transistor FM radio with expanded spectrum (up to +-120 MHz) that I use to listen to local ATC (legal in Czech republic), but there is a problem and that is that when I tune to a specific frequency, say 105.5 MHz, I can hear transmissions from 104 and 112, all at the same time, overlapping. So, is there a way I can "focus" the radio to listen to a specific frequency more clear?

Try twisting some of them tuning transformers
>>
Well I did try, bit there are only 2 which actually have any effect at all, but they just seem to adjust the volume...
>>
Can we get some more info about the radio, like photo of its circuit board?

I am new to woodworking and am wondering what the easiest way to cut straight would be.

I have purchased a pull saw and need to use it to make some shelves out of some wood planks I have. I've read everything from using c clamps to buying a saw guide and was wondering what any of you guys would use.

Maybe some links to what I should buy. I'm not looking to spend over 50 unless it's stuff that I'll use for years to come.

don't use a hand saw

you should already own or have gotten instead, a circular saw

get some simple clamps, clamp a rafter square (which you also should have) to it, use the square as the cutting guide

How else am I supposed to do it? Get something of unknown quality at a pawn shop for a meager discount over new?

get a edge clamp from HF with coupon, use as saw guide

if you have to rip longer, just get a piece of bar stock or some angle iron, or just another piece of wood

When talking about a industrial, high end environment, what brands and professional tools are used? I mean power tools.

This questions are purely out of curiosity btw.

You looking for a power tool bait pic, like the one you posted?

I'm legitimately asking. Pic related I saved from /diy/

You haven't mentioned a particular trade so no one can give you a particular answer.

The higher you go the less likely you are to have heard of the manufacturer.

The image you posted has no more basis than anything anyone else will say. If chink shit works and gives you what you want, that's all that matters.

One of the prongs of my audio connector broke inside the input, as you can see. The white thing in the red input is the prong. I've tried using super glue to attach to the prong, then remove it, but it's not a strong enough bond to hold. Any ideas? Maybe I should try threading a hole through the middle then pulling it out? lol

Crack her open and maybe you can push from the back

Nice; now it's probably glued in place.

Small needle nose pliers, or a hook tool with barbed end, perhaps. Otherwise take off back panel and push it out. Even superglued in, you should be able to remove after disassemble.

I am about to buy a house and the main living area is an undivided room of 6x4m with a protrusion for the entrance.

How does this concept look for dividing it between a dining room and home cinema area? While it might make more sense to put the home cinema on the left that would mean navigating through the middle of it to get to the garden/dining area. The book cases would face into the dining area.

Additionally, if I were to do the floor with a combination of wood and carpet, would a line of slate or other dark stone between the two be too optically busy?

forget about projector screen, your 2.5 m distance will not need any bigger screen than 60" (see tv size to distance calculator)

why is the bookcase in the middle of the room and how tall

forget about carpet, just use area rugs, also, nobody puts stone to divide flooring and carpet, that is just stupid

the whole thing is just question marks why did u do this even
>>
>>1127121
I'm going with the projector because I already have it. The bookcase is to divide the areas, I was thinking ~180cm tall (the ceilings are 2.5m)

>the whole thing is just question marks why did u do this even
It's the first time I've had the opportunity to alter an interior (the carpets, walls are completely trashed and will be redone). I really have no specific idea and the division with stone seemed neat (I saw something similar in a cottage).

Somewhat diy, rather the three things every single handyman should have with him at all times, a flashlight, a knife, and a multitool.
Ik Leatherman is better than sog but it was a gift, and works well enough i cant justify apending on a wave just yet (it replaced a wingman)
Knife is a Doug Ritter Mini Griptilian in m390 which is imo the best stainless steel for work (less than a month old so no wear really)
Flashlight is a Fenix PD35 Tac. Also not evem a month old
Basically i got a new edc for each of these 3 items in the last month and a half. R8 m8

Paper

Everything else is just bullshit you don't really need until you get your tool box out the van anyway.
>>

Imo i find these 3 items getting more use than everything else in my toolbox so why not
>>
I have that sog too. Switch plier 2.0....

It's... OK. More quirky/gimmicky than practical. If you don't need spring pliers, the skeletool is a better, similarly styled tool.

For me it's a flashlight(hugsby 2xAAA), precision screwdriver(2 tiny Philips, 2 tiny flat), Leatherman blast, and my phone.

This is my diagram for my battery setup to live in a van. Do you find anything wrong with how I have wired it?

These are the batteries I am going to buy.
https://www.batteriesplus.com/battery/rv/deep-cycle/6/sligc110

I am going to use 4 or 8 guage wire.

I guess my only big question is do I need to change the negative wire on the inverter to the first deep cycle battery and not the second?

Your alternator has two 'hot' wires?
>>
>>1127106
Well there is the pre existing wire from the car battery to the alternator. The other wire I have there is to the solenoid, but I could I guess put that to the positive car battery terminal or find a live port in my fuse box. Yes?

what can I do to repair this bathtub? Short of installing a completely new one. It looks like someone took a knife to the bottom, and the fiberglass is chipping up in small sections. Is there some sort of epoxy or compound or something I can resurface the bottom with?

You can refinish the tub, but you will have to use soft scrub which sucks.

Hello /diy/, today I will be detailing my adventure in replacing my toilet seat.

Here, in my first image, you can see the old toilet seat. The old seat wiggled a LOT. One of the hinges was broken. It was just annoying to use in general.

If you need any help regarding toilet seats, feel free to ask. I'll be sticking around for a few hours helping anyone out with Toilet Seat related problems.

What's the brand of the seat? How long will it take to break in?

Sup, /diy/. So I moved and was unable to bring my sewing machines with me.

Can anyone rec some good models to look for used? I'm mainly planning on using it for working with denim, canvas, (light) leather, cordura, etc. So ideally something a bit heavier duty. However, I'll also be doing some clothing work and also sewing Tyvek, which both require lighter duty stuff.

Budget is ~$100 for a solid used machine.

Also:

I'd prefer to go with something more 80s-90s than the older style machines.

Absolutely nothing wrong with sewing machines from the 50s-60s, you can find some absolute beasts from that era still in great working order.

Problem is that these days that means wading through 100s of CL posts with SUPER HIP VINTAGE SEWING MACHINES that are either solely cosmetically restored or actually piece of shit reproductions. Pretty hard to find fairly priced workhorses when a guy can just slap some paint and polish on a broken one and sell it to some nu-yuppies who will display it in their living room while their twee-as-fuck friends all talk about how "cute" it is.

So I'm going to stick with newer used models, that dont have the cursed "vintage" aura about them. Big ugly boxy machines suit me fine if they can handle 5 layers of denim.

Pic related, the 50s machine I bought for $20 and restored, thing is an absolute beast, sews everything you put in front of it. Wish I could've brought it with me.

I'd like to start making things using paracord, so I thought I'd start by making my dog Zeke a new leash like pic related.

I have been looking at swivel trigger hooks but cannot find the hook in pic related.

Does anyone know what this hook is called?
