I have a lot of time on my hands and an old PC tower (pic related, Phantom NZXT) that I have no use for, now that I've moved to a better tower.
It has sat on Craigslist for a month, and I don't feel like getting into the hassle of the other sites.
What are some projects I could make out of it?
I thought about doing a fish or snake tank. Have no experience with either of those, though, so it would be a shot in the dark.
Other than that, I have really no idea what to do, and most google searches just suggest building another computer, which I'm not interested in right now.
Thoughts?

NAS or external radiator for your PC. Both projects are easy to follow on YouTube. Some people use towers for micro grows, but some people are also faggots.
>>
>>1174153
I was going to suggest selling it, but it seems that you already tried that. You could make a new craigslist ad, and mention that you are open to negotiation if you haven't already.

I do not think that this case will make a good animal tank, especially a fish tank since it would be very difficult to seal off properly.

You could also use it to house a server or a NAS, that you could make using parts that you get used off of ebay (just not hard drives).
>>
NZXT has good customer support, they sent me a side panel and screws for free for my phantom with no proof of purchase. (It got damaged). Ask for replacement pieces so it is in better condition and then try selling it.

The terminals on my car battery get a ton of corrosion to the point that they are covered in a mound of blue powder. I neutralize with baking soda and water remove the terminals wire brush and clean them, it used to happen to just the positive but now its happening to negative too, which sucks because I cant reach the negative terminal, ford put it under the cowling requiring me to remove said cowl to service battery which is a pain. What can be causing so much corrosion? It gets to the point where I have to clean it every two weeks or the car just doesnt start.

if it's a continued problem why not just fix it?
I had the same issue until I spent all of $12 to replace the terminals and tossed some dielectric gel on there for good measure

they make a grease you can cover the terminals in thats suppose to fix the problem. ch3ck autoparts stor3.

I am not opposed to this how ever what would be the difference? Is there a certain type of terminal that works best?

I just got a new lawn mower and picked up some of this shit. What are your suggestions on keeping your gear tip top?

Just change the oil after x so many hours. And with lawn mowers. Keep an eye on the air filter. And if you're mechanically inclined, change the jets in the carbs up a point. They are always lean as fuck because muh epa.

Rinse the deck and shit off after a day of use and fuck get a storage shed for it. Even a shit lawnmower will last ya like over 20 years if all this is done.
>>
Always use gas without ethanol.
>>
>>1173432
This is only true with shitty rubber gaskets. If its a new mower. Id hope they would use the newer shit. And I swear if you say "muh but it destroys brass too" I will kick a baby.

Anybody know what the hell these anti-tamper heads are called and where I can find a driver for them?
The previous site manager used a ton, and now he left, we have no way of removing them.
We have larger ones like pic related, and smaller ones, as in bolt heads, that have a circular indent, with a smaller circular indent at the bottom of it...

>>
Go to harbor fail and look through their tamper-proof sets. There is a pretty decent selection, but I haven't seen this exact one before. Good luck
>>
If all else fails you could measure the circles and their offset with a digital micrometer and have a machinist make you a bit.

The whole point of these heads are that they are annoying as fuck to buy, and you probably won't be able to tag a name to them.
If you take it to a hardware store and they can't tell you shit, either call a machinist or drill 'em out.
You sure the previous site manager wasn't just being a bitch, or were security heads specified?

Are there people working on brake press AMADA ASTRO 100 NT that can sauce me up with manual, tips, hints, some articles on what I need to work with it.

Starting work in couple of days and never worked on anything cnc and have no idea what to expect.
I am supposed to be trained by someone who somewhat knows how it works but from what I understood the machine is bought second hand, the owner have no access to manuals or official training and have no idea how well the dude that suppose to train me know the machine.
Please help guys, this is my first job and me not fucking it up is a matter of life and death on multiple levels.

Already searched cnc forums and cant find shit on this particular machine.
Seen few yt vids and from the looks of it, its some cool looking nasa robot that makes rad metal origami
doubles as a chiropractor after-hours
but fuck me, no idea how it goes and what I need to even stand next to it.

Contact the manufacturer by telephone and explain your situation.

It's a great way to be a hero at many jobs. I fucking ALWAYS get tech data on anything I can. See if they have any training materials. Make a contact because if you need tech support you'll already be familiar.

Well, people on cnc forums who looked same manual said they never heard back from manufacturer and from the looks of it it takes a lot of time to even learn whether they help you or not.

Since I've yet to start working if they start asking questions and I wont have an answer ready that will sound just dodgy so I am leaving this step for later.

I still could use all kind of wisdom even if anon dont have a manual on this stuff.
Dont want to fuck it up considering this little T800 looking thing cost a lot.
Plus its my first job and at first glance it looks somewhat promising and being a bit autistic I think I could learn it, especially that my wage will depend on how well I know my shit and currently I am literally starving.

BTW, how big the deal is math and technical drawing.
When I see anything math my mind goes blank, is there part of it I need to work on or casio and some book of formulas will do the trick?
I imagine technical drawing is a must so its something I want to pick up in coming days.

How feasible would it be to build a city/village 200+ feet underground. Any special considerations, any skills that would be handy?
59 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>1169836
Very feasible if you have renewable energy to power the ventilation and water supplies, and lighting to grow food
>>
>>1169842
Geothermal energy is a possibility, but i dont know how deep we'd have to dig. Water could come from aquifers or hot springs
>>
ventilation, strata and geological issues, size of roadways/cut throughs etc, support that needs to be installed, depth of cover, how do you plan to excavate the area? continuous miner and conveyor belt? how hard is the material? drill and blast? is the ground able to be blasted without special considerations? what's your budget?

Motherfuckers will not stop going off every time I cook.

I had a roast in the oven at 450ºF and the motherfuckers started beeping. There wasn't any smoke anywhere in the house. I don't fucking get it.

What the fuck is wrong with my smoke detectors?

>>
Slap a plastic bag over it. Problem fucking solved.

Mofos used to do that all the time when smoking in the dorm room back in the day
>>
>>1174243
Mine do that too. Solution is to stick it in my washer when I cook.

There is no solution other than moving it, or covering it up, which defeats the purpose.

Do you have an exhaust fan over your range?
>>
>>1174243
Smoke alarms are supposed to be on the other side of a door from the kitchen and not inside a kitchen or in an area adjacent to a kitchen if there's no door. A lot of the smoke alarms tell you this in the installation instructions. Also, use a vent fan over your stove to help reduce odors/cooking smoke.

I've been designing a bunker. For no other reason than working out the logistics of an EMP proof self sustaining bunker. That could provide a comfortable post nuke living habitat. I believe all ideas deserve scrutiny. So I am posting the design here for discussion.

It is 1600 square feet, the units are built from 40x8x9 shipping containers, this would be buried in the ground and encased in concrete. Power would come from a small solar farm with a grounded fuse box to protect against surges.
There would be a filtration system for pulling air from the surface and removing radioactive particles.
Water is filtered for repeat use, the system is fed from a tank, with a pump for pressure.
Food stores should last 2 people 2 years, but as long as you immediately begin utilizing the hydroponic garden, you could stretch supplies out further.

All together i feel I've accounted for most, if not all, contingencies and comforts. As well as spending several days considering fabrication challenges. So please ask questions.

>>
Do you have spare water and air filters as well as spare bulbs for the garden? Also, do you live near any major cities or nuclear targets?
>>
>>1172028
Yes, yes, and the garden will use relatively low wattage LED grow lamps. They will outlive the rest of the bunker. As far as location, this will be built in a rural area, outside of approximate damage ranges for nuclear priority targets. This bunker will not take a direct hit, but should outlast an EMP. And even the immediate fallout, due to oxygen stores in the safe room. I even have multiples post EMP communication solutions established. Including a sat-comm uplink, and Ham radio.

Would recommend setting aside a room for air handling. Quite a lot of space needed for 3-stories, ducting, filters, scrubber, heater, de/humidifier, etc. I'd recommend you have all the switchgear, power panels in the same room? So a utility room is needed. Might as well throw in the control system for pumps and water there to save space. Also, I'd recommend having a deep bored well instead of trying to reuse the all the water, it will make things easier and cheaper than advanced grey-water filtration.

Just my two cents from moleman experience.

i currently have a small propane powered furnace i use to melt aluminum cans and stuff and it works well, however i go through most or all of a 20lb tank if i have any substantial amount of cans to melt which gets a little annoying and expensive having to run to the store in the middle of a melt and spending $20 on a replacement. plus i have to drag all of the stuff outside and undo the tank from the grill and whatnot. i want to build an electric furnace, however every tutorial i find uses soft alumina silicate fire brick, which i cannot get cheaply where i am at. no stores sell it locally and shipping is retarded expensive, closest is the hard ceramic brick which is uncuttable and doesnt insulate as well. what can i use to make an electric furnace? pretty much my only options are what is on amazon prime because like i said there aint shit locally aside from wood and pellet stove stuff.

wtf, how many cans are you melting? i do about 2-300 cans in this: http://www.backyardmetalcasting.com/bucketfurnace1.html

i weigh the 20lb tank before and after and it's like 2-3lbs of propane
>>
>>1170915
What a cute little furnace.
So where you at and how far are you willing to travel to buy ifb's without paying shipping? Were you looking for k23's or k26's? I bet I can find something local that sells them. Amazon is shit for refractories.
>>
>>1170954
Modified version of Grant Thompson's pipe burner at 10-15 psi in a small helium tank you get from Walmart cut in half and lined with ceramic blanket. I usually get anywhere from 5-10 lbs of ingots depending on how much I saved up.

>>1170955
Fairbanks Alaska. Closest place I can imagine having soft brick is Anchorage but that's 6 hours away so fuck that. Probably k26 just for that extra bit of resistance. Amazon absolutely is shit but it's also the cheapest option that doesn't involve literally $50 per brick shipping.
