Evidence. And deterrence

Your not always trying to catch a theif. Maybe its the asshole neighbor kid.

Maybe you record so that if something happens you have video of it. ( like the time i used my video of my house to prove a utility conpany truck hit my car.

I have this trolling motor: https://www.mygreenoutdoors.com/minn-kota-traxxis-45-tm-12v-45lb-36-shaft-remanufactured-1379323/?gclid=CjwKEAjw3drIBRCOwfC-_qqyjQ8SJADvoWQpo409quGe5GU3aOdNeqCblxQ4oSH-sZxLJxfWHnE52xoC-FTw_wcB

How much PV do I need to fully power it? I want to be able to run the motor directly off solar at full thrust during a sunny day, using battery only after sun down or if a cloud crosses the sun.

>run the motor directly off solar

This will kill the solar panel. You need a battery and solar charge controller at the very least. The motor should draw from the battery, not the panel.
>>
>>1177087

How could it kill the panel? I have seen many solar powered RC cars and boats that don't seem to have that problem, like the Tamiya Solar Eagle

I just broke a plate, since my roomies have broken two and hide them (instead of manning up and telling me) it now means that I now only have one small plate left.

When it fell off and saw the crack and chipped corners I knew what I wanted to do. I rushed to my computer and searched for "Japanese gold ceramic repair" and I am now here. I usually dislike weebs and weeb stuff, but every culture likes gold and no one has to know that I did this.

The plate is a bit boring and plane, maybe the repair won't shine that much, but I will gain experience and save a plate.

I already asked google and YouTube, but all results either use very specific japanese substances that I have no access to, or do not set flush with the ceramic, looking like a bump on the plate. What I want is to retain the original form and texture, while leaving a visible vain of gold in the repair area.

pls no bully

Glittered glue? Also, these seem like regular white plates to me, why are you being so anal about them? Just smash the last one and tell roomies to chip in 5$ so you can get a new set at Wal-Mart if they don't want to eat straight outta the pan.

Not OP. The reasoning behind the concept is to not cry over a broken item because it's been made more beautiful for having broken or some shit like that.

How do you smash your fingers with it?
Also, I have a compressor and a pneumatic riveter.
Can't say it was worth the money, but I can say I'm glad I don't need to sit there fishing out the cut stalks that seemed to happen every 3rd rivet.

It's an 8 string, baritone electric guitar - With a five-piece laminate thru neck, which is made of ebony and zebrano, the body is made of maple, with walnut for the top and back body caps.

It has two Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and sperzel locking tuners. The bridge was made by Kahler.

I've only ever played a six or seven string before this, but I've been playing for a good long while at this point so I'm sure I'll make it work.

There's lots of music out there made with extended range guitars.

I made a rather smooth, flattened radius on the back of the neck too, so it's not as bad as you'd think.

It does feel a little weird I guess, but I'm looking forward to breaking it in a bit.

Would this be a suitable welder for someone looking to buy their first welder?

I've had MIG training so not a complete beginner, but still a beginner.

If not, what would be a better alternative? I'll be doing occasional welding with mild steel. Aluminium would be nice. Don't want to spend too much as it will be an occasional use sort of deal and I'm not currently in the best place financially to spend much unless something like this simply wont work.

Before anyone mentions it, I dont plan on using the included face shield, will get a proper mask.

Also, since I plan on doing the welding outdoors, is there any way of getting a temporary protection against wind/ protect outsiders from the welding light?

I was thinking I could build a "dissasembling" workshop. A couple of boards of treated wood boarding that I can attach in the corners with a mechanism to make a small enclosed room. With an added ventilation hole/extractor that I can add. Something like that that I can set up within a few minutes. Would this work?

can you get the same machine you trained on?

Its been over a year. I remember they kept complaining about our welder breaking so I'll probably find something else. Im guessing sticking with mig would be better than attempting to learn arc welding though?

its not absolute still beying used all around world , there is even a company in my town that makes tubes and shipps almost all production to US, i think they even build another building in the last years.
so whats the point?
do you want build a tube amp?
>>
hey guys I have an old piece of tube equipemtn that has no use anymore so i'm going to salvage the tubes and transformer. I know that I can just power the thing on and measure the B+ voltage to figure out the voltage and I can probably look up the 3 tubes (two penthodes and a rectifier) to figure out the minimum current of the heater, but is there a proper way to find out how much current I can pull?

I want to turn it into a tube preamp, so just one or two 12au7, the rectifier and maybe if I want to get fancy an OD3 for regulation* so I can probably just call it a day and build it without caring about the current capabilities.

*info seems a bit sparse on using VR tubes without building a complete multi tube powersupply

I've had a previous post on here asking people how I should lay out my room.

I've managed to design a layout. Pic relevant. All my furniture will be built by me. Im thinking I can do this with a chop saw, a hand drill, hammer+nails, and a dremel.

I've put up the 3d models for this on Autodesk360 http://a360.co/2rzL9P0 for illustrations sake. Just right click hide selected on the cube to get rid of the walls.

I'd like people on here's input before I go out and start building. Any ways to utilise the space better or anything like that.

So, what do you think /diy/?

Any ideas like this chest of drawers I've designed for all my commonly used items/electronics, that could double as a work surface or be moved around for different uses depending on situation.
I plan on using the top shelf on the desk for my 3D printer and a snake tank.
My Pc will be on the open area and I'll probably set up my soldering/electronics/diy setup on the bit under the shelf.
The bed is pretty much final design except I might add a head board/foot board, or just a beam across to stop the mattress from sliding up/down. The desk idea is done, just might tweak around positioning of beams/legs as that was just done quickly.
>>
screws not nails, you'll have to take that bullshit apart and don't want it falling on you
what the fuck do you want a dremel for
just live with 6 bins up top instead of 7 so that you can easily get to all of them and build your loft to only need to support them in one orientation
that's a fuckload of furniture for a closet
I'd put the loft above the desk and use the bed for siting at the desk

Hey /diy/.
Jumping over here from /fit/ with a question for you guys. I don't know a whole lot about power tools but I have this 18v mastercraft impact driver, featuring this 1/4" hex chuck.

How the hell do I get a drill bit in here? Must I buy special drill bits or an actual drill?
Thanks guys

Use quick-release drill bits rated for impact drivers. They have hexagonal shanks.

Use a drill for drill bits.

That impact takes 1/4" "Power bits" - hex bits that have a little groove in them for the locking mechanism.

There are drill bits that featue the power bit end, but ... just use a fucking drill bit.

Get yourself a philips, flathead, 1/4" and 3/8" socket adapter, and any other bits you frequently use (Robertson/square-drive, torx).
>>
>>1179484
make sure you're using impact bits for anything important or if you value your safety. I've had a ton of normal ones just twist themselves right in half and a few fly off on me.

Has anybody installed any, or does anyone have any in their home? I saw some in person, and was intrigued. I'm currently starting a full home renovation, and wanting to keep it fairly on the cheap. The carpets HAVE to go, and I don't really want to budget for real hardwood floors. Plus having several dogs, I don't want to use cheap snap together crap that will warp and raise up the first time I spill liquid on it, or a dog has an accident. Does it install easily, and how durable is it. From what I saw, it appears to look decent, and feels like it should be pretty durable and hold up over time. The kitchen has had vinyl tile flooring for the last ~20 years and it only has a few minor cracks and minimal wear. I've seen some that is adhesive backed. Will this hold up over time, or should I use additional adhesives?

>>
I don't have the wood grain stuff, but I put down a stone-look LVT in my kitchen and it's awesome. It goes down like tile, and it's been extremely durable with 7 kids in the house.

The stuff I got was pretty damn thick, too. I think it's going to hold up really well.
>>
>>1179082
Was yours the peel and stick kind, or did it require additional adhesives? What did you install it over? I'm trying to decide if I want to go through the hassle of removing the old vinyl tiles, or just install them over the existing floor. The floor that's on there now doesn't seem to be peeling up or anything, so maybe it's a solid enough base.
>>
>>1179086
I took up some shitty plank stuff that was in there from the 70's, probably. I did go ahead and replace the subfloor when I took it up, but what was there was too uneven.

The stuff I used is glue down. You put the glue, wait 10-15 minutes for it to get tacky, then set the tile. I was able to go back over it after I was all done and grout it, too, which probably doesn't matter to you since you're doing the wood look.

The peel and stick stuff is awful. Don't waste your money. If you really need to do it on a budget, and the LVP/LVT stuff is out of your range, I'd seriously look at rolled vinyl. Depending on the size you have to do, a lot of carpet stores may have a remnant of something pretty damn nice that will suit what you need. A lot of the more modern rolled vinyl has a ton of texture and everything in it, too. It's infinitely better than the peel and stick.

I bought a house for $5,000 it's in pretty poor condition. The reason for the low price is its location and that the basement was flooded. Inside the basment was a water heater, fuel oil furnace and a fuel oil tank. The flooding ruined that water heater and furnace while knocking over the fuel oil tank spilling diesel everywhere. It sat for 3-5 years flooded. Most of the house has a stink to it. I pumped out the water oil mixture into a tank and properly disposed of it. My questions are, will pressure washing take away most of the smell? If not how can I get rid of the smell? If so what can I do to further rid the house of the smell.

I don't know why the picture is upside down.

Ultratrch makes a coupke if products that might help.

Ultra-microbs a oil eating bacteria mixed with clay.
It will remove any remaining oil.

Additionally they make Oil Stain Remover.

Last step will be forced ventilation to evap anh remaing smell.

Steam cleaning can sometimes help. As a last last step.

>It sat for 3-5 years flooded.
>how can I get rid of the smell?
demolish it, and pray no-one ever comes of the idea take soil samples or similar when you want to rebuild/resell as building land. Leaving a cellar flooded with 3-5 years with heating oil? - not going all tree-hugger on you here, but, not only will you never get rid of the smell this side of infinity, that building is polluted to fucking high heaven, fuel oil is actually some pretty nasty shit.
>>1178952
Some or all of which may have helped, when used immediately. It was fucking five years ago - IMO, no longer remediable, depends on spill amount.
>>
>>1178960
This.

At this point look at it as you got land for

demolition of building
Remove all waste
Excavate all contaminated soil.

Bring in clean fill and build a new.
