wassup /diy/

to keep things short, i'd like to somewhat replicate a bag that i like but can't justify the price tag for it.

it's an extremely simple bag and i don't actually think it would be that hard to make.

would it be possible to take a few photos to someone (seamstress? / something else) and they would be able to achieve what i'm looking for?

materials wise where would i find good quality canvas in melbourne australia?

Yes. A grandmother could whip this up easy with an at home sewing machine. I dunno about where to buy canvas. I know painters drop cloths are half cotton and half polyester in the USA.

How can we improve upon this concept into something reusable, flat pack-able, and marketable?

These are not very good actually and you don't need to have a bunch of boards or use that technique to get a bunch of potatoes.

Need to rig up some sort of water pump. In true diy fashion i want to build a spaceship for free out if trash, but I know that it's not realistic.

Need to keep this giant water hole pumped out as cheaply as possible. Been considering a few solar panels and bilge pumps. Or maybe hammer a hole in the rock and run a sump pump.

Have plenty of sun. Wind almost always blows 25mph so i could buy or build a windmill to generate additional electricity.

I dont need the water to go far. Maybe pump 1 foot up and 10 feet accross level ground to drain over where my 10" pump is.

I have tried putting rock down and it just makes a soggy mess. I have a lot of large rock to move and cannot drive in water or i will get a tire.

I have a 50 watt solar panel. 2 12v 35ah deep cycle SLA lead batteries. I new medium sized bilge pump that probably won't last long. And i can find or buy a sump pump motor and 110v adaptor. Its quite a lot of water and spring fed. But i think a sump pump or equivelent could keep up running intermittently during the day. I'm not above running it all night i guess. Not concerned about fire. But, since this is all experiential it's all going to be on my dime.

I am approx 400 yards from a 110v source with maybe a 20amp breaker. Bit i would have to lay line on ground in a temporary fashion. It would expose it to rats and the elements and potentially cause a pasture fire. Could bury the line but the direction of the electricity source is the direction we are blasting rock.

Ideally i would orefer a temporary setup so that in the future i can use this to set up gravity feed drains in a few ponds.

Any thoughts?

>>
>>1178748
Christ. That looks like a diesel pump problem to me. At least for the initial draining. A solar sump pump "might" be able to maintain it if you drop some serious dough on panels and batteries.

The real problem is the amount of incoming water. If it rains, your pump may not be able to keep up.

I've been locked in my room for three days now because it feels like everyone is manipulating me and I can't figure this out. I've said some pretty hurtful things and everything has felt like a dream for the last few days. I want everything back to the way it used to be. Being human sucks.

its more like a computer that happens to have peripherals for low level protocols. you could use it like an arduino but you would be kind of wasting it.
it can run a full OS you can do whatever you want with it.

Im really not sure what to do with it.

finally got a respectable non bullshit compressor, now looking to fill my cluttered garage with even more tools. which brand of air tools is the best bang for your buck without raping your wallet? ive been looking at ingersoll rand edge series tools and have 10 tools picked out that will run about 800 or 900 bucks and it seems like a good deal for the amount of tools with good reviews. max budget is $1000 because i got the compressor for an absolute steal.

Look for used Bluepoint, Snap-On, and IR on Craigslist or any other second hand source you can think of. I bought a used IR impact drill and been working great for years. Got it for $60 vs $500 new price.

Hey guys, what would I need to make something like pic related?

I am in the EU and would love a Titanium/steel/tin tent stove and thought maybe it'd be doable to make my own.

Pic related is just 6 sides, with some bent in lips, and 4 long bolts pinning it all together.

Leverage is key, so your smaller edges should be cut after they're bent

Alternatively, riveting is a simple process and could make the process less complicated.
>>
Is something like this a doable first project?

Thanks for the link
>>
>>1180255
Sure, be prepared to do it 3-4 times to get it right.

You're also going to need a way to cut that hole. A hole saw should be OK on thinner gauge materials.

Stick with tin or stainless steel.

I can go to a lumberyard and pick up wood to build with. Is there a type of metal material that could be used like a grown up erector set? Looking to build 2 small shelving units for small bottle storage. Can't use wood.

I'm looking g for something that has holes drilled every inch or so and is either flat, corner, or square in shape. Can be nut and bolted together and soft enough that a hacksaw can trim it.

Thanks everyone, give me your ideas, show me your projects, inform me of materials. Or flame me and get racist for no reason.

Anyone here cuts his own hair? How do you blend it near the line in pic related with your hair trimmer? If you just use different sizes it looks like shit and doesn't look uniform and natural.

How am I supposed to them on myself, I don't think I have enough dexterity for that. Even with the trimmer more often than not I get frustrated and end up cutting it 2mm tall.

I had an idea today in leaving the gym and my mom told me to share it with you. Imagine how easy it would be to wash your gym clothes and fold them back in your bag in the time it takes you to shower. My idea is for a single outfit clothes washer and dryer for gyms and pools. I know the mechanics and seals of this are a night mare but do you think this is possible? I drew out how i think it should work. I envision it as a reverse engineered gun. With the tumbler being the barrel. I believe it's a multiple billion dollar idea if it is possible. Anything is possible right?

If you look at a swimsuit water extractor it's the most similar machine.

I also think of a agitator free model where it is just one tumbler system.

Go kart thread

Pic is predator 212cc engine.

Me and three of my buddies are having a contest to build a go kart for under $350. We'll end up racing them to determine who wins.

My question is, how easy would it be to take an old lawnmower transmission and hook it up to this engine? By itself I know I could get this thing up to about 40mph, but was hoping to add the transmission to really get it up there
29 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If you don't blow it up by shifting to 2 gears at the same time it's as easy as 2 pulleys and a belt. May take some cleverness due to horizontal shaft to vertical shaft.
>>
>>1178278
>old lawnmower transmission
like a riding lawnmower?
aren't those vertical shaft drives?
>>
>>1178313
>>1178312
Is there an easier way to pull it off? A lawnmower was just our first idea because we knew they have their own little transmissions. Is there anything else that could work that is relatively cheap? We were joking around and saying we should just go pull a transmission from an old civic but I feel like those would be a little big.
