This reminds me of a short story I was writing and didn't get very far with.

It was set in the future. Everything has gotten very disposable. People throw everything away. And most people don't think much about it. But a few people still collect rare things.

The two main characters are a sex droid and a collector. He works at a factory close to the docks and finds her in the garbage pile . He digs her out because she is a very early model.

(She might also be rare if I decide to make her a fetish model like a monster girl, pregnant, futanari or something like that).

The story would be them traveling and working to fully restore her body. There would be a lot of commentary on how wasteful we are. There could also be some on mental trauma. She would probably have some, and she would partially be restored because he believes in her value, but at some point she would also have to recognize her own value to complete the journey.

I had a dream once where they built something similar to Terminators in that it had cloned human skin and such printed on, but unlike a Terminator the inner structure resembled a human's muscles (Rather than skeleton) so it sort of meshed better.

I imagine this would be pretty nice given you have what is effectively a human outer shell. It'd admittedly be a little creepy seeing what's underneath though...

Unfortunately they did end up going Terminator, mostly because they were abused.

There's also a variation where nearly all of humanity converts themselves into these in order to become immortal (And even take "vacations" in a virtual world based upon a server!), and those that don't become envious and claim the machines were never human to begin with and simply want them exterminated to give them an excuse toward retribution.

I would love to see more of that too.

I wrote a short story once that took place on post human earth after a plague wipes out humanity and the only ones left are robots and androids.

The story followed an android (gynoid whatever) housekeeper who spent the last few months looking after her owners apartment after they were taken away when they got sick.

She slowly starts to realize they aren't coming back and goes out into the city to see what's going on and finds all of these androids, mostly the newer and smarter models milling about the city and trying to figure out what went wrong.

She meets a robot detective with an expressionless metal face and bug like eyes an android prostitute as well as a couple of custom made androids living in their former owners apartment.

It was kind of an experiment to get into writing. The ending wasn't satisfying and I wanted to turn it into a full length novel.
