I've seen a few others mention their dislike for the models here. Any particular things you don't like? I'm constantly going back and forth with these models, and trying to improve them to the best of my ability, but my strengths are in animation, not design and modelling. I've considered adding a pass in post process, where I could dampen the shading a bit on the middle of the face area, which would give it slightly more cartoony/anime feel, as right now it is a bit hard cut. I mean obviously I can't please everyone, but I'd still like to find a decent middle ground.

I've also been entertaining a possibility to hire someone else to make me a new easily modifiable character base to spec/or completely designed characters even, but that can get expensive very fast. And I'm not confident I can reach sums quite that high within this particular niche.

First of all I'd like to say I don't have any significant problem with the modelling, the animation is top notch so I'm not gonna complain.

What I think makes it a little awkward is that the style kinda seems to be in between realistic (think TheWiking2000's animations) and the common MMD anime style, now it just ends up being neither.

So like you said yourself, increasing the cartoony/anime feel could solve this.

Though if that is going to take you alot of time to make, I'd rather just see more animations instead of slightly better models.

I appreciate the input. One of the reasons I come here is that people tend to be more open with their opinions, with the extra layer of anomity and all.

People tend to be more careful with critiques/ comments on other sites, to avoid scaring artists away.

If the patreon keeps on growing as well as it is now, I'll definitely continue working on new content. I'd expect around 1 video per month for the coming months. More if they're a lot shorter than the latest video. I'll ease the pace to the one mentioned in the goals after a few months. Assuming it hasn't capped before that.

I'm still working on my pipeline a bit, so I don't know what my exact release schedule will be in the future. But it will get a bit faster as I get more used to animating with the rigs, and streamline the whole rendering process a bit more.

The only real issue I have with the models is the shape of the face. The fat cheeks and small pointed nose makes her look like someone from Whoville. The model you used for the VR test had this problem as well but not quite as bad.

Other than that though the animation is fucking 10/10 and the video is still amazing.

This is a random size image from one of my folders, drawn by an artist generally regarded as very good.

Virtually none of Seo Tatsuya's compositions are anything groundbreaking, and yet you don't see complaints about that because the art itself is of a fine quality. Why is it that when someone challenges themselves to draw something that most don't, and pulls it off better than the usual whenever it's attempted by another artist, that is suddenly an issue? Yes, foreshortening is a basic art skill. No, that does not mean everyone has some sort of iron grasp on it by default.

POV adds to the fetish by taking the view a normal observer would have of a situation and putting it into perspective (pun not intended). I would say that's interesting all on its own. Yes, it could definitely be worked into some other form of amazing composition, but you should call everyone else up whenever someone actually does that because it sure as shit doesn't happen very often.
