Been really busy with life shit (more than usual), so barely anything done. When I got the time I worked on some bugs and rewrote how skin color works. It now has base pigments, pigment concentration, blood color, skin opacity and other crap. This makes the skin colors and subsequently blush, membrane and flesh colors more flexible and automated.

This also makes transitional TFs much better as it'll be easier to find transitions between different points without having to make manual inbetweens. This also means that tanning, paling and that kind of stuff will be easy to add, for those that enjoy cosmetic stuff like that.

I'm also working on setting up hormones, because you know, more transitional transformations. Depending on hormone levels the player's body will try to regulate them towards a standard, speed based on the concentration of hormones.

Plus I want hormones to influence mutations and TFs in general. For example, getting exposed to orc TF stuff will change the outcome depending on estrogen and testosterone concentrations. High estrogen, get turned into a breeding sow over time; High testosterone, get turned into a rutting orc beast. etc. Have both hormones, get a mixed bag.

That kind of thing anyways.

Can anyone remind me of the name of a flash game.

Thank you for checking. I have a suspicion that it may be an issue with an old save file or wrong game version. I have another bug I'm looking into (time not causing anything to change) and it seems to be related to old saves missing one of the newer components from a couple updates back. So if someone is using a rather old save file it could be causing this stuff since I haven't caught everything with save compatibility just yet.

I'm heading to work now but I'll look into this stuff more when I get back.

It's not really a root problem - the saves aren't futureproof at all. It would be a problem if they were supposed to be.
Except noone likes futureproofing saves. Even masochists find that shit brainnumbing. It's the shittiest part of a save system, right before making serialisers to save your stuff to begin with.
Futureproofing saves is for critical real life shit where your client is yet another asshat who wants to work with the product asap but keeps changing specs as it gets closer to final, and bitches that he lost his data.

Sorry, phone posting from work. I apologize for the big delay on that. Been busy and out of sorts lately.

I checked out the saves this morning when looking for that bug mentioned above. So that was what I was talking about. These saves seem to be missing a component from when I changed how entities are updated and regulated.

When inactive the system doesn't waste resources on updating them but stores how much time has passed so that when they're next updated the can catch up.

Your character has some how been deactivated so it's not updating. Just storing the time passage. This either means sonething is going wrong and turned the player off or this is a save from before I implemented that change and thus never had an activated state to begin with causing it to fail in the new version. Something I didn't think about before updating.

I'm assuming the functional save you sent was saved more recently or were these all from the save version?

Ah. Alright then. That means that some of these might have been created before the active/inactive system was strung into the game so it's probably like what I mentioned above where they were never given an active state to begin with.

The entitles themselves have an almost separate versioning from the game itself. An entity created in an earlier version and brought into a new one will be a different generation of anything in the entity creation code is changed. If that code is untouched, even if a lot of the game changes they'll stay compatible.

Gives me an idea, I should start stamping all entities with a "version and date created" data mark so it'll be easier to detect if there's a save incompatibility when I make entity core changes.

Anyways I still want to run some tests and I'll see what can be done when I get home. But yeah, as that other anon said, future proofing saves won't be a big priority until it starts effecting progress or continuity and by the time I start making stuff that people will want to have consistently saved between versions most of the core engine junk will be more or less stabilized reducing possible save compatibility issues any ways

Use Oldrim if you're gonna mod. SE doesnt have SKSE yet, and its not looking like its going to get it any time soon. The SKSE folks said it'd be ready in february, then retracted that last month saying "it'll be ready when its ready".

As for what you need, Nexus Mod Manager to install and keep everything organized. Lover's Lab for the sex stuff. Nexus has all the newd skins and lewd armors. LOOT should cover your load order so you dont crash like a flight to Malaysia.

With all the popular patreons raking big numbers, I think it's easy for wannabes to fall for the survivorship bias and wrongly estimate the market, believing stupid memes and jumping right into catering to a public that might not be so receptive as it appears.

There's plenty of patreons that can't even reach the three digits, and projects that get canceled (like pic related). So, what do you think an aspiring erodev should know to avoid an unprofitable fate or turning into yet another tombstone?

As far back as when Elzi's cap threads started getting deleted, I used to post images in here with a reminder that mods would prune /d/iscussion. I stopped when moderation eased up. It seems such things go in cycles, which is natural given the cyclical nature of 4chan's user base - newfags come in waves (blame summer), oldfags leave likewise (blame moderation).

4chan isn't a democracy. You either learn to love the current dictator(s) or move on. Those are sadly the only choices.

TL;DR: Scope and focus.

You may want your game to let players fuck everything and the kitchen sink (or toaster), but that means writing/coding the interactions for ALL fucktargets. You may want your game to include ALL /d/ fetishes, but with a linear growth of components the interactions grow exponentially. Too often, /d/evs will complete all interactions for a single fetish and lose steam/heart/boner once they realize they have to repeat the process again, for fetishes they don't necessarily enjoy as much as the first one.

Feature creep is another problem because adding new features is also multiplicative. Worse, sometimes new features can't be slotted seamlessly into old systems, which means the old systems have to be redone from scratch. Breeding Season's multiple retools are a particularly egregious example - each time the art was halfway through being implemented, new additions rendered it inadequate. Your pic is an example too - does an incomplete game need voice acting? What if something changes later in development and the game no longer matches the old voice work?

Basically, pick something small and see it through. Leave room for growth so you can accommodate new features, but stay focused. Once you know how the process works, you can budget time/money/effort better.

I'm starting with the hex map tomorrow, I made some place holder tiles for it.

So the idea, is the player starts with a center home tile, with the 6 surrounding tiles immediately available. Exploring a tile a couple times will let the player "discover" or unlock another tile next to it.

Each tile will have a biome and different compositions of enemies. One desert could be bandit controlled, or snake controlled for example. N distance from center effects difficulty. An n1 desert will have a different mob pool (and event pool) than a n3 desert.

While outdoors, the party moves from tile to tile potentially triggering events. While in settlements or your place, you move instantly between tiles.

Yes, actually I've tested that, and it works, but I've never released a build in that manner. The main issue with it is that I have no way of knowing who is and isn't a backer. Eventually, whoever does the banning (because no one over at FenCo actually works) would realize that the users being identified shouldn't have had access to the backer builds at all. And since they already know that we know how their tracking works, I imagine they could put the pieces together and figure out what I'm doing.

Then they would just unban everyone and likely change the tracking method entirely, which would be another inconvenience for us.

I'm still enamored with the idea of little safe spots / resource caches out in the wasteland to facilitate easier exploration, especially if they're left there by the player. The idea being that you can leave some stuff behind when scouting or exploring in order to make return trips easier for yourself. If there's a scale of how "secure" a shelter in a given area is, the player could eventually move their base of operations somewhere other than the starting spot, for easier access to a given type of resource/enemy.

As I recall NMM is a mighty mess. A big fuckery of overwriting files and complete mess.
Granted, I haven't modded skyrim since 2 or 3 year ago, so NMM might have changed.
But what I remember is that Mod Organizer is by far superior. It allows you to easily install, modify and uninstall mods without risking breaking original game files, if something goes wrong during modding phase you can VERY EASILY Diagnose and troubleshoot problems.

Basically, stay away from 'Nexus Mod Manager' and use 'Mod Organizer'. Mod Organizer is harder to learn, but gives you some serious and much needed QoL options.

Trapsona, a Persona spinoff where the velvet rooms either been taken over by a succubus OR Igor's on break and the attendant (I'd use Elizabeth in this case) has taken charge of things, and summons you to help find your "true self", which is a trap of course. Finished in the sense that Fen declared it finished, yes. There's three major mods off the top of my head.

Revamp is basically vanilla with sprinkles and chocolate sauce. The other two build off of it so you won't miss anything if you opt for them.
Xianxia overhauls the combat/perks to be harder, adds even more difficulty options, overhauls the TFs to have a bigger effect on stats, and adds some more content. If you want the game to be really difficult for some reason, this will do it. On the downside, the creator's english is bad so his content reads like it was google translated. Hell, it probably was.
OtherCoC adds some more content. The big difference with this one is that its not hosted on Fen's forum, so it can ignore his rules (and Savin's bitchfits) and do things the other mods aren't allowed to touch, like loli/shota and Helspawn incest.

Probably not. Could work if you went with 3dpd pics, though, like trap quest does. I think there are some websites that you can grab them under a license that allows free reuse. Either that or aika's a dangerous criminal.

Alternatively, you can just skip all images and make the text real good. Then later when you add images they'll improve a game that's already good and you don't risk depending on images so much that you start writing not good.
