I get the most traffic on Literotica and StoriesOnline. Hentai-Foundry is kind of a pain in the ass because their layout is a fucking mess, and there's not much traffic for stories. My latest story has 10% of the views on HF compared to Lit/SOL right now. Yep, I find commissions are mostly about name recognition. Post stories so that people know what they're getting, and what kind of content you're good at writing. Once you build up a reputation as being "that guy who writes X" you'll probably get more than you can handle.

May 22 is the day I first signed up for Pastebin and started posting Lock Croc as a full series. I was posting it to anonymous Pastebins starting on the 15th, so either day could be considered my anniversary of joining this thread proper.

I did a word count on everything I've written for /efg/ since I joined. The final total is 186,218 words in one year.

To me, that is insane. I was always someone who struggled to get the words out, despite how much I loved the act of writing. I'm certain this year was more productive than at least the previous three that preceded it. (And even those were spent mostly writing that Girlfriends 4Ever fanfiction that I don't have the good sense to be ashamed of.)

/efg/ was the reason I finally decided to write every single day. When you do that, even if you only write a few hundred words, you can't help but get the words on the paper. I've adjusted to a life where I spent at least a little time writing every single day, and with this coffee bar futa story, I'm so deeply inspired that the ideas swim in my head through my whole day.

4chan gets a bad rap, most of it deserved, but there's no doubt that 4chan and /efg/ have improved my life. I've written more than I ever have, and I even took my first writing commission. It's been a blast.

I finally got sick of OpenOffice being an unstable pos the other day and installed LibreOffice instead, but it crashes and fucks up just as much if not more.
I tried to find something lighter and gave Q10 a try, but it was just way too barebones for me, didn't even have a toolbar and did everything through keyboard shortcuts.

If you do go the Markdown + YAML approach, you can use a program like Pandoc to convert it into any format you like. I mostly go with one file per chapter but text means you don't have to worry about corruption even with huge files. It also plays well with source control (Gitlab has free private repos which means good backups).

I switched to Markdown because OOo and Libreoffice kept corrupting on me. And Puppy Mill (at 600k words) fucked up everything.

I'm currently writing what's becoming a pretty long story inspired by my beastmen campaign in Warhammer: Total War. Talking from experience, if you tell a story that people enjoy, they won't complain if the porn is spaced out or it takes a while to build up to it. Some people tell me they even skip the porn on the first reading and go back to it later, so I advise breaking up such scenes into their own chapters so they can be found easily.

I do like to make my smut scenes substantial though in longer stories, I generally use a model where each sex act gets 2000 words and scenes include at least three or four acts. I can see people being annoyed if the payoff was small.

For Puppy Mill, I started with almost one scene per chapter. After about fifteen or so, it was getting obvious that the porn was getting in way of the story. That is why I started hearing more "came for the porn, stayed for the plot". Near the end, it was 4-6 chapters between involved scenes but it "felt" right in terms of pacing.

For The Mummy's Girl (written ten years before), there was one sex scene per chapter and it felt... forced to me. There were a few chapters that I should have just let the plot.

So, don't worry about plot and porn, find a balance of what is right and then go for it. Readers don't need to get off every chapter or page.

There's something in them that is starting to feel... samey for me (no, it's not the femdom). They are always HUGE and super detailed scenes,and some of them drag on too much compared to the plot itself. There's also this weird feeling I have about how they are inserted in the story, it's like you (the author) felt like it's mandatory to insert a sex scene after some % of plot is done, and that every story must have at least one BIG sex scene.

What I mean to say is, I think it's not BAD having some huge sex scenes, but maybe you should think about condensing some them, make some just short and sweet, maybe just a blowjob, or some kisses and a quick fuck. That said you have described my thought process pretty accurately, I do feel as if I have to get one really big scene into my stories, and I like to make them as large as possible and include several sex acts for variety.

In my previous story only 20k of the 80k word count was sex scenes, is that enough? Doesn't feel like it to me, I don't want to short-change people on the porn. I also worry about spreading the porn out too much, I like to keep the smut contained within specific chapters so that people can go back and find it easily if they just want to beat their meat.

Depends if it was billed as "a [genre] story with sex" or as a flat out "sex story with a bit of [thing] on the side"
10% is just a little low, at least with your level of descriptiveness, but I'd be completely fine with 10-15-ish% in the former sort, but about 1/3 would be the minimum for the latter
Also as a romancefag, I would say that about as much romanctical wordcount as sex scene is really preferable
So like in, for a hypothetical romantic heroic bloodshed story of 50k words, 7k each romance and porn plus 36k action would be about the sweet spot IMO

Beastmen are unimaginably savage. I was thinking of things along the line of raping-to-death, like wood elves literally torn apart by lustful beastmen as they each try and get a hole, probably eating the mangled parts afterwards too.

I feel like that mentality is quite counter-intuitive. Looking back on some of your works, the sex scenes as often as not feel meaningless and forced, both in the way they're written and their placement in the story. Off the top of my head, the first sex scene in the Krell story is basically just varied repetitions of "It was big and very pleasurable" with a few confusing and anatomically questionable secondary movements slapped over the top for about three thousand words. So coming to a sex scene, I will generally skip it - not because I'm particularly enthralled with the surrounding 30k words of minutiae, but because they're just so repetitious and forced that once you've read one, the rest don't add much to it.
Now, that's pretty much your biggest flaw in general from my perspective, and not specific to your sex scenes, the fact that you drag on and on and ON with things you assume you owe the reader, rather than just simplifying over the inessential filler segments.

I was toying around with an idea of how to make a fapfic with non-malicious rape (I know it sounds oxymoronic) inspired by a request on the drawthread. So I thought up of this fantasy world with several cultures, one of which is a tribe of orcs, where the main form of courtship is the male attempting to woo the female by forcing her sexually in attempt to please her. It is not treated as rape, and in fact the culture does not have any understanding of the concept. The females judge the males through the force courtship, and if she's pleased by his actions, she will mate with him for life. Displeased and she can simply kick him off and leave. But its not all powerplay, cause the males will also have to praise and give gifts to the females during the sex acts itself.

One of these males, may not be into female orcs and attempts his luck beyond his tribe. He meets a female from another race (better if she is not a human or elf cause they are getting boring for me), that he's taken a liking to, and courts her the only way he knows how. Unfortunately, for her, she and her race have a concept of rape, but she may not be strong enough to push him off unlike the female orcs. Que a noncon sex peppered with random attempts by the orc to flower her with praises and gifts, much to her confusion. OR maybe she is aware of the orcs cultural differences, attempts to convince him he can't just rape another race, which is met by confusion and he simply tries even harder as he "rapes" her.

Well I don't feel the same way about the story around the porn, if anything I have to make a conscious effort to curb my rambling and prevent the stories from being twice as long as they currently are.
The philosophy I apply to my writing is that anything that can be cut without negatively impacting the plot, should be, so if you still feel that my stories are too long-winded I guess that's just the way I write. I've already simplified and cut as much filler as I felt was necessary by the time anyone is actually reading it.
Not sure what else I can do besides that to address the problem you bring up.

Oh boy, yes, I would. Actually, I do enjoy stories that have a bit of smut/sex more than "normal stories", that either avoid them completely or make them a lot more subdued. I also hate being teased for chapters and chapters, without anything happening between two characters (typical of manga plots)

But, I think that specially in this short story (and a bit in Worlds apart), I was way more interested in the possibilities of character interactions/story than the smut.
I had no problems with Pinwell, I think the scenes were hot, well spaced and had actually helped developing the characters. But in this case, specifically, I was hoping a lot more for "Raz being awkward, getting used to living in a farm and his parents" than just "long scene with Raz fucking in a human bathroom".
Actually, I think something cheesy like a picnic in the riverside followed by some cuddling, and then (maybe) sex in the water would worked a lot better. I mean, it's Raz visiting a farm in earth for the first time, dude, focus on the farm/earth stuff, that's probably what people are hoping to see.

I think that in some cases, you should try focusing on make the scenes more impactful by either making them more condensed or more plot relevant, with character development/dialogue, instead of just making them huge and with variety (that too, becomes boring after a while, it just makes the scene drag on and become skippable)

Take Katawa Shoujo for an instance (maybe it's not the best example, but it's ok), that's a game were you actually lose something if you skip some sex scenes, most of them are pretty relevant to the plot of some characters.

I think my mistake here might be making this one a short story rather than a regular one. There just isn't time to meet those expectations with character development and plot, and also deliver a decent sex scene. I'm gonna be done with it probably tomorrow and then I'll be moving on to the next request.
What I could do is add another 10k words of Raz interacting with his parents and exploring the farm and such before the sex scene, but that would likely mean I'd have to drop one of the other requests from the lineup.

That does bring up another question though, are you guys even going to enjoy the upcoming short stories if they're all of a similar length and content? I'd like to request a fic, about a female guard and a male prisoner. My idea was for the male to be a prisoner of war from a dispute between a centaur/minotaur/other 'masculine' beastman tribe, and the guard to be the more generic inexperienced human/dwarf/gnome girl. The races and set-up are up to writer's taste though.
The main 'plot' would be that the prisoner would be found masturbating in his cell by the female guard, and after some spying she would sit in front of his cell and start watching him openly. I should've explained that. STP stands for straight to porn. I've tried reading some of the stories and I got bored really fast and phased out so I specifically wrote something with less story and all that. So there's only gonna be basic character development and story in the future if I write more (even though the sex scenes are the hardest to write). Newbie to monster girl erotic fiction here, Snek/uninvited 1-2 have been my favorites by a lot along with escape from bermuda. Some quick criticisms I can think of:
Snek 1+2+the parts of 3 i skimmed seem to follow the same patterns in sex scenes: kissing, oral, and then sex and I don't feel like there is a lot of interesting weird sex positions or anything to keep it a little more interesting. I'm not sure of the size and length of the Viper either. Tit's get described as basketballs but length only gets described in meters I believe, which is easy to forget. Comparing it to the size of something that most readers would inherently know or comparing Viper to another object in the world that is well defined could be a better option.
I think the MC of snek was pretty well written, not to much description of his background felt like it left the character open for a bit of self-insert but he definitely wasn't bland or anything.

Working in an established setting means you don't have to worry about devoting so much of the story to conceptualising the setting for the reader - you can just get on with the story and sex. The best advice I can give is to be a reporter in the same room as the scenes you envision. It's hard to explain, but it's what I do. I let the scenes play out in my mind, while transcribing what happens by writing. The side effect of this is that a lot of times things happen in my writing that even I didn't see coming.

Usually I just have a rough sketch before I start to work, but only fully understand the character and the situation when the events are actually unfolding, thus many occasions I apply changes or go on alternate routes which were unforeseen. So I want to write a story about Caim (Drakengard1) being somewhat revived and murdering everything in an automata setting, but not sure which scenario would work best. Which one would make more sense?

These factors can influence if it's good though, especially in a sexual context. It's easier to identify with a character sexually if it's told from a perspective(another thing, don't call out te reader in a way that overtly implies they are removed from the plot, total immersion ruiner), it can ruin the flow of the story if you know the end result, and if someone says it's based on a true story it can taint the creativity of the reader by tying it to real people with real aesthetics, porn writers usually aren't the people you want in your written porn as the actors.

I still don't agree with the flash-forward part. Some detective stories have fun especially with this element when they let the reader know who the killer is right at the beginning, yet it's still interesting to see how the main hero figures it out. If you flash forward you know what they did, taking out some of the tension, while howdunnits simply have a greater focus on the mystery of how.
But I guess you could make that work, it's just not for me, it takes me out of the immersion. Because for me, relating to the main character is important, I want to take the journey with them, not have it retold from them, that might truly be a bit nitpicky tho

I'm still going and do read them, I just feel that they ruin not only the tension of the story but also diminish the impact of the character's evolution. I strongly feel that characters are a sum of their experiences, the straight to sex is great but I want to get emotionally involved. I want to feel their ups and down, the successes and failures. Being told explicitly that it will work out means those failures are just bumps, false tension. I don't always want it to work out, I want there to be tension because it gets me involved with them, to cheer for them. I want to cry when they succeed.

Start in the action, that's awesome, but don't go back. No flashbacks or "I bet you wonder how I got here" (Thor 3). No, because the story started there, show me how they moved forward from there with hints from the past. It has more of an impact on the reader without revealing the end.

One of the exciting bit about stories is not knowing what goes next. That is why the first time you see a movie, it seems to take forever but later views blast past. The rawness, the newness, is what makes you focus on it. It forces you to sink into the story because you don't know what is going to happen. The same with comics, books, and butt sex. When it is new, it is fantastic because you don't know what is next. When everything is known, you just fast forward to the good parts.

In that aspect, revealing the conclusion tells you what happens next. "Oh no! He's on the cliff will he make...? Yeah, they have sex. Damn, he's going to live." You might know *how* they get there, but you know they get there. Kind of like Hollywood movies, you know that most of the time, the good guy is going to live so the action scenes are just action masturbation.

Pretty much what >>7449315 brought up, it's more like it's a summary of what you were going to write, rather than an actual story. It's not even an issue of certain things being underrepresented or skipping a couple scenes - it's just completely missing almost everything.

The first line is a fairly standard, short "X exists and I found them" intro, but two lines later it's started a dialogue between two near-unknown parties about the dragon's leg-like cock. And then two lines after that, the character is already in a store and is buying an imaginary - in the sense that literally nothing is described - dildo. Eight after that, she's already back home(?) and is fucking herself silly - and so on. It's like you storyboarded where you wanted scenes to go but then completely forgot to actually write the story.

And the places where you've actually gone into detail shift between laughable and banal, with no separation at all between anything.
