I've heard that, but I'm not entirely sure of the truth of it. A quick google search found me this, if you're in the US. Surrogacy here is handled state by state, and at a quick glance, the states that do permit surrogacy don't seem to have much in the way of rules/regulation regarding who can and can't be a surrogate. I think less than a legal matter, it's really up to the contracting people whether or not they want their surrogate mother to have previously borne a child. Of course, there's probably more to it than that, but you have to look into each state's regulations to find out.

Same boat - I grew up in a very small family, and one of my few regrets about my childhood is growing up without any real extended family. Oh sure we had one grandmother that we spent a lot of time with, and we had one or two distant relations we saw around the odd holiday season, but what little extended family I had died before I was born or not long after and there were never any real big family get togethers or reunions or things like that, no cousins to visit or hang out with, no aunts or uncles to turn to if things weren't going great with my parents, etc.

My family is the most important thing to me, and I've always wanted my kids/grandkids to grow up having lots of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

It's hard finding women these days who are actually interested in having children, though, let alone a large family.
