I've always had a thing for stories with body swaps and someone treating their new body just the same as their first one.

So maybe something with two girls from different schools swapping bodies, one being a shy nerd and the other being a popular punk girl.

I did leave. I was also the original writer for Mistaken/Sayaka, Zoey, and Abby (along with a number of other things, particularly in 1.0), although that's not to say I was ever the only person involved with the routes I wrote. For example, a few scenes in Kat were written by kmalloc and another writer whose name I've forgotten (who also quit), while Mina was written by kmalloc, Pendragon, and myself. I also frequently worked from others' plots (e.g. Mistaken was mostly plotted by teerack, Jcjace, usa2z, and grizz, I think; I had only a limited role in that regard).

Anyway, because of the above, others are invested in seeing most of the routes I worked on finished. It might be slower in certain cases, but I doubt there's much to fret about. Dev here, the main reason it took a year to release an update was the fact that despite tripling the amount of content, we only got a finished path towards the end. If you can write a complete route that quickly, then we'd release around that.

Systemic and interpersonal issues stemming from my other role as editor. I'll give further details because I'm not aware of anyone else who has quit and talked about their experiences. I'll only mention one name here because it'd be obvious otherwise.

Systemically, the dev team wasn't functioning well. kmalloc, the de facto project leader, wasn't doing much of anything (nothing behind the scenes, and only one commit in months, a sprite set I ripped), leaving me as the only significant editor. That brought me into conflict with other writers. kmalloc started issuing arbitrary rules to avoid further conflict. As these rules were disconnected from what we needed to do (and contradicted kmalloc's own work when editing 1.0), I thought they would impede progress.

Also, myself and two other people did not like each other much because of frequent arguments, mostly related to editing. That wouldn't have been a problem in itself, but one of them decided being insulting was the right way to handle it. Endless arguments over minor details, personal sniping in the commits, passive-aggressive nastiness, and a fight IRC room ensued. I was guilty of engaging in the first myself, but not the rest.

Both sets of issues came to a head at roughly the same time. There was probably a solution, although I don't regret leaving. I don't think they're awful people (minus the one guy). I'd just never put myself in that situation again.

That's a very backwards way of seeing it. The end of year deadline was planned internally while I was still there and mentioned multiple times in the game's thread. It didn't matter whether a route was finished. Connie being finished was almost certainly a result of the deadline, not the other way around.

It's entirely true we tried to set solid dates beforehand, but those dates weren't "deadlines" in the strict sense, more ideas (or, frankly, fantasies) that we would reach some sort of route end by that point. I think I even gave February or March as a possible date prior to the Git crash. We didn't plan for a release regardless of progress in those cases, though.

The end of year deadline was originally independent of whether a route was finished so there would be some kind of release within the year. It may be a distinction without a difference now, but a difference did exist between the two.

You might be able to say that the plan was that a route would definitely be finished by that point, but that wasn't how we discussed that deadline at the time it was set. CaptainCaption was disappearing for long periods of time, so the Connie route certainly wasn't planned to be finished by the end of year deadline.
