So, I asked this in the old thread and thought I'd try it again, here. By now, you've probably seen my "goblin season" fic. Well, I want to write more stuff with the motley cast of characters featured in it, but I can't figure out what to actually write. I got a couple of ideas, but can't seem to pick which one to do first. Any opinions?

I like it! It has a very visceral, dirty feeling to it that really wirks with the scenario youve cooked up. I especially liked the attention given to Selk's hand motions, they felt very detailed and sexy. The setting descriptions were good as well; as someone with little to no MTG knowledge outside osmosis through /tg/, i understood what was going on pretty well, and the environs all felt detailed and fleshed out enough to paint a lavish picture of the scenario. The wordless exchange with the Rakdos was fun to. It did seem a little sudden how quickly Anatta starts fantisizing about Selk, doubly so when the bit of backstory you provided paints him as a father figure. Pretty much upon seeing him shes thinking about him naked, which is lewd and dirty, sure, but comes off as Anatta being perpetually pervy and a bit creepy. Maybe if a bit more focus on the desperation of her situation had preceeded it the fantisizing wouldnt be so jarring. There were also a few grammatical foibles i picked up; multiple times Selk is referred to as 'Senk' following line 71, line 185 has "The touch of cool of her burning", where i assume the second 'of' should be 'on'.

A few sentances end prematurely, and at one point im sure you referred to Selk's fingers as 'fighters'. Id give this one another look over, all of these are things you'd pick up with a quick proofread. None are significant enough they interfere with the story (aside from Sellk's name changing), but theyre numerous enough to warrant some proofreading. That aside, its good to see you branching out, both with more novel story ideas and with trying 3rd person fics, both of which you pull off very well!

As far as I know, writing same sex couplings, especially with two women, leads itself to less of the typical bump and grind of male-on-female action and more to the emotional attachment to physical stimulus.

It also helps to show, rather than tell. In this case, say for instance you had a Borealan female from the Pinwheel universe going down on a human woman it helps to clarify who is doing what to whom to avoid context issues.

Something along the lines of "The feline woman's mouth opened, her large, flat tongue playing across the human's clitoris as powerful paws held her in place. She moaned, muscles tensing as the gentle ministrations of her partner brought her to a rapturous orgasm. I've gone back and tidied up some of the mistakes - proof reading's never been one of my strong points, but completely muddling up the name of a main character is a bit embarrassing even so!

As for Anatta's relationship with Selk; it's supposed to be a bit weird and uncomfortable. I didn't want to distract from the story by going into a great exploration of her backstory, but she grew up without any real father figure and Selk wasn't around enough to properly solidify as one. He's just a cop who looked out for a street kid. So she grew up on the periphery of this warm, handsome, successful (by her standards) guy, and became close enough to trust and care about him, but beyond that doesn't quite know how they relate. And to be honest, she's nineteen years old. God knows I was a flighty bag of hormones at that age.

It's why Selk starts getting pretty freaked out at the end. He realises that he hasn't just risked his career, he's complicated something which until now he saw as being more like a brother-sister relationship. So I'm glad that aspect of the story definitely came across, but hopefully it wasn't so weird it detracted from the smut itself.

DLFG, I have a request that might interest you:
Sheltered girl is out on her own for the first time and, after settling in to her new situation, gets asked to take part in a threesome with two guys. There are two ways to do formatting really, depending on whether you're going for a traditional novel-style look, or something formatted more for ease of reading on a computer.

In the novel style you want to use breaks (the TAB key) to make a new line when a new character speaks or a scene changes, or just if you feel it makes the text more readable..

For example:
[BREAK]New character is speaking," then you can continue the text like this until a new character starts speaking.
[BREAK]"Then you break again and start a new line to indicate a new character is speaking." Then if the same character continues to speak. "You don't need to break again."

The method a lot of people use for websites and things like that, is to use ENTER to start a new line when the character speaks.

"So it would look like this for example," then when you want to indicate that a new character is speaking.

"You start a new line," and so on and so forth.

"And it continues on like that with a new line created for each new character speaking," or scene change.

The only thing to be careful with in this kind of story is keeping it believable. How do you justify needing a sperm sample? Believability is a bit of a sticking point. The doms MO is perversion/control so that is kind of a get-out-of-jail-free card for what they do. Personally, and I'm not speaking for everyone here by any means, I find most of what gets posted extremely trite and not to overuse the word, but derivative.
I understand people have a fondness things like orcs and elves, and they enjoy established universes and tropes, power to them, but its just so overdone at this point.
Something in a wholly new setting is refreshing and holds my interest far more.

The stories themselves might boil down to "guy fucks weird aliens/monsters" but the fluff just makes it so much more enjoyable, I care so much more about what's happening if the setting is interesting and novel.

Alright. The good news is, there's nothing particularly wrong with the smut. You need some practice, but that will come in time. Keep at it.

However, smut is not a justification for senselessness and lack of context. Very few people, particularly here, can get off to a story that begins so suddenly and without any context or reason. The characters aren't given appearances, the situation isn't explained, and I'm not even sure what kind of setting this is supposed to be in. These are the details that make or break a story. What separates an alright story that will arouse someone for about three minutes from a favorite that one can come back to time and time again is the story, not the smut. You don't have to write a novel, but it really does make a difference.

There's nothing about "how original am I", it's about the general writing quality of internet erotica (original or fanfic) and how unlikely it is that you'll find a story that you think has decent writing, decent porn, and subject matter you're interested in, whether that subject matter is lewd or not. Original work is used in the sense that it's not derived from a preexisting fandom or setting. A more extended reading could be:

Writing erotica is like literary surgery; one poor choice of word, one punctuation or comma -error, one typo too many and you shatter the flow of the erotic story and put-off the reader.

To make things worse is that erotica always has a POV and/or narrator, and if the reader can't associate or dislikes either of them it doesn't matter how juicy the actual story is, kinkwise.

I figured maybe she could be the daughter of the Equatorial ambassador to Earth, so she grows up in a human environment and thus most of the cultural pressures that make Borealans rapey aren't present. She goes to school with humans, I can do all the identity crisis and social stigma shit and have the MC be her sole friend.
The underlying instincts are there, but she'd be operating on human social mores.

Happy drunk Borealans can happen but I might edit that pitch a bit rather than introduce a new race just yet, maybe have it be an Equatorial that just happens to totally switch personality when drunk.

I figure if I limit those stories to like 15k words, since they need a lot less character development and buildup than my usual stuff, I can put out like four in a month.

As for the smol Borealan fic I'm liking some of the ideas I've seen and I'll try to include them, but I won't start seriously planning that out until Grave Goods is done.

I wouldn't expect to get started on any of this until early February probably, GG is gonna be fairly long. I want to say I'm 1/3 done right now. I may end up taking short breaks to work on smaller projects and preserve my sanity however, this one is a bit of a slog.
