A serious question about downloadable (onto a desktop/laptop) games, Which would you prefer (of the 2 options):

1) a game that is easy to get running, but is pure text. Text, no images, and no means to link to a web site that might contain images of specific scenes*.

* There is a hyperlink option for Linux users (depending upon the distribution), but I am going to assume that most people on this board are using the "game launcher OS" made by a company in Redmond, where hyperlink linking is not available from the CURSES emulator window.

Note: the input interface has previously been called "clunky as fuck" by a poster on an earlier /dgg/ thread.

The text interface involves typing. The web browser interface involves buttons and hyperlinks. I am not sure if you prefer to type, or if you would just rather point and click with a mouse. There are people consider the mice to be evil. (after a quick check)... Yes, you can navigate a web page just by using the tab and enter keys on your keyboard (at least with Firefox). Unfortunately you might have to use both hands to navigate that way with the keyboard because of where the tab and enter keys happen to be on most keyboards.

What do YOU want to make? If you wanna keep it text-only, and skip all the external hyperlinks issue, then sticking to option #1 is probably for the best.

Otherwise, going with #2 might be a more flexible alternative. However, I'd strongly suggest you investigate into an embedded-browser solution (something like NW.js, but for whatever language you're using) to make it more user-friendly, or just hosting it somewhere online, since it's obvious you're coding it as a server-side application.

Oh. Well, yeah, for a small game, the overhead of an embedded browser might not look appealing... As a last resort (on windows at least) you can always use an IE webview to keep the size small, or just be lazy and make your game executable launch the default system browser pointing to the game url.

Of course, the real best advice would be to address the elephant in the room by admiting you're probably using the wrong technology for creating an offline game, and that you should consider looking into a different langauge/engine/whatever.

IE webview implies that the program is interacting with the windows API structure (winmain, etc). However, there is another way by using "start <URL>" via the system command. Given that "start" detaches a specified process, that will nicely startup a web browser in the background without blocking/stopping the single thread/process program that invoked it. Sounds like a viable option.

For example, go to the windows command prompt. Type "notepad.exe", until you exit the copy of notepad that is executed, you cannot use the command prompt. Then use "start notepad.exe" instead, and you will find that not only does notepad start, but you get control back in the command prompt that started it, before notepad exits.

There is a default to the URL but you can override it on the command line (in case you have a port clash). The program shows what URL it is on when it starts up.

I included a PDF (help) document with the default URL (if you don't change it), and considering that most PDF readers will launch a web browser with the URL anyway, the default is covered.

I said that before I found the setting to keep it as "press up/down for next choice". Once you told me how to use it, I had no issue with it.

I gave BPMS a try but the complexity for clearing hard mode kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
Tried the other one but got lost in the maze and after a dozen encounters I couldn't make it interesting, so dropped it too.
I had some great times with XLEA on the other hand.

Keep doing your style, I believe devs have to cater to themselves first and acquire the userbase that enjoys the results.

There are a few extra scenes and using the patron version of the game you can customize how random the NPCs are when they're generated. Are there different bonuses you can invest in for each slave school branch you choose to have in your Arcology?

Before the 0.9 series of updates I went with The Growth Institute and later on I was able to choose a kind of upgrade for each slave from it, one I forgot and the other being all slaves from there would be super healthy.

I was wondering if they were all kind of the same or if there was any big differences. And if so, what are they exactly?

There is an event after the first mercenary option, where they offer you a cut of a hit on a secret lab. If you opt in, you get a herm whose fertility you can restore with basic surgery (IIRC).

Stop playing on the "female slaves only" setting - IIRC it removes the option to grow male parts for female slaves. If you aren't, look for the "experimental organ farm" surgery upgrade which unlocks at high rep, grow missing parts (dicks/testicles/ovaries) and implant them.

The last time I tried hard at FC it used to be Wealth/Wealth.
Because you can stock up on minmaxed starter slaves that you can put in leadership positions/whore out/have a dairy party.

Wealth/Wealth is probably the best start overall.
Then there's business, which increases your business endeavours and makes it lucrative to focus on bsns during weeks, but I feel like the biggest benefit is that it assists the prosperity growth and kind of offsets the cons if you choose to give GPM not a high priority. PMC work is interesting because it's mostly about events, in that it occassionally gives you lucrative event opportunities and offsets bad (aka cheap) choices during one time events. It also lets you SKIP rival warfare (but u dont get the sweet human trophies), which basically offsets everything you did wrong previously.
But if you don't play bad in the first place, you don't need this anyways.
Social engineering is ... really crap desu. If you just go Rep/Rep, it's ~ the same effect (not that it's that great either). Two things you can do with this, is easily reign over your cities culture because you're so much earlier than any other arcology. And it could maybe offset like a female, young PC that chooses to ignore reputation. Medicine is insanely good for obedience if you use it correctly and only apply surgery to ambivalent and higher slaves, but at that point you don't need anymore help with obedience. Engineering reduces a lot of costs, but I feel like I could also take something different, and just earn money with it, so that I don't need to have cheaper upgrades.
Hard Work/Force seem absolute bullshit choices desu. It's like a single obedience increase upon gaining a new slave/a fear increase (but you don't even need more fear increases).

Social Engineering is a weird one. If you already have your NG+ slaves maxed out with the fifth your sale slave, you can get your FS 30 weeks early and perhaps half-way to completion by the time it would regularly unlock, but you'd have to have a very specific goal in mind that 30 weeks of a single FS would benefit you.

the problem is not that it isn't working on windows, the problem is that the anon has no fucking idea how to use the less user friendly part of windows. nightgames mod work on any windows version that runs java so long you arent autistic enough to fail double-clicking the .jar file or executing java -jar <filename>.jar in the mod folder

'Tomgirl' is becoming the politically correct synonym to 'Trap' than else-wise, the tags were also changed to reflect this in e-hentai as well. I wasn't even aware it was ever considered a sub-type because all I've ever seen is people bitching about the term trap being offensive. ToA; formerly named TrapRPG even had it's title changed to be less offensive from this. It's a better title by the end, too easily confused with Trap Quest.

'Sissy' will still remains the same because the humiliation aspect itself is apart of it's fetishism, and is cemented to minimally imply small-dicked traps among fetish-porn communities.

I still prefer using trap for my own obstinence to never avoid common terms just because people are offended by it.

I've had some time to work on the game (I'm casual) lately, so I thought I'd share the latest version.

0.2.0:

- Multi-Batch Refiner - You are Welcome!
- Several fixes to the many, many passages that got included last update.
- The Flow Control of the game has been reworked. While it's essentially the same, this rework will pave the way for events to be fit into the game at appropriate times.
- Text additions in many places.
- Groundwork for the partner having preferred transformations. (and unpreferred)
- Rebalanced research costs as part of upcoming 0.3.0 overhaul.
- Partner will now have some logic behind her action's decision-making. She's not as likely to rest or lounge around.
- Several new things sprinkled around.
- The Naturalistic Growth System is getting worked on.

TL;DR: I'm a lot happier with the new flow of the game, but I can't add any new content until several more things are done.

The essential rundown of the trees is as so:

CHEMISTRY: Focused around serums and chemical augmentations and changes. Specialized control of transformations, but only average RP gain and nothing spectacular until much later.

ENERGY: Expensive but ambitious. Probably my favorite path, but I need to get the Field Generator overhauled and working. Great RP gain, little control, higher risks.

NATURALISTIC: Low Cost, Low risk, slow development, average RP gain. Focused on letting the body improve itself, and science just gives it a little help. Slow Growth fans might like this.

Not really. Trap Quest isn't a game about succeeding. It's a game about minimizing failure (or embracing it if you just want to jerk it to your character getting fucked). You can't get more manly, only more womanly, and the game will push you in that direction. For instance, you could play it like a dude bro and fuck every chick possible after defeating them. But there's a catch: the chicks will get stronger every time you beat them. Usually after you beat them down twice, they will overpower you and humiliate/feminize you. You could ignore all the clothing in the game because it's all girly and you want to be a manly man, but then you'll hit needle traps that will increase your breast and hip size. TQ isn't a power fantasy, it's about walking a fine line and getting a little lucky.
