Anon is exactly right. I rushed that one out because it was taking too long. I'm sorry that I didn't give it the time it needed to really stretch it out, but I got impatient.

Kind of wrote myself into a corner here, wondered if anyone could help.

I'm having the Borealans build a longhouse, based so far on a mixture of traditional Viking and Iroquois techniques. The support structure is all done, the walls are made from logs like a cabin, but I have no idea what to do about the roof.
The environment they're in is the Siberian taiga, so they have access to plentiful lumber, but no stone or shale. They can't use thatching because they'd have to have farmed reeds or wheat beforehand for straw. Colonnades were incredibly important in Greece and Roman for just that reason. There were massive dry docks and warehouses in ancient times, fully roofed, supported by internal columns.
