I was sat in the nurse's office faking to be sick as I often did, and was near the bathroom door. You know how nurse's offices always have nice bathrooms with lots of privacy? This girl (again, think your typical highschool freshman girl if you want a mental image of her) went into the bathroom and stayed in there a very long time. A snug feeling that holds on to you and follows you as you move around. The tapes holds everything snugly around your waist and thighs and the gathers of the leg holes stretch and contort around your legs. The plastic (assuming it's not cloth material) and absorbent material that creates the diaper makes it feel smooth, soft and "thick," making it very comfortable. I really wouldn't describe it as a pillow between your legs though.

I know what you said already, but it is something you should try at some point since it's better to experience it rather than have it weirdly described to you.

The suffering many an early ABDL have faced. First, there is no substitute for the real thing (disposable diapers like Abena that is), but you can make do and improvised diapers have their own charm. Some people use towels or blankets. I recommend just getting the softest, nicest feeling square of cloth you can find (I recommend fleece though). Of course make sure you get enough so that your makeshift diaper is thick. Though another option is just buying a bunch of briefs and wearing them all at once but I think that's a very inferior practice.

From there, tape, to secure the cloth around your waist. Duct tape has its uses but I prefer masking tape. If you need privacy though, electrical tape is your best bet because it's very quiet to peel off. I find Duck Tape brand duct tape is also very quiet, but not as reliably as electrical. That or diaper pins, but you'll need big ones and those are hard to come by.

Now you'll need some kind of plastic to seal the cloth inside of - to mimic that outer diaper feel as well as inner. The plastic of diapers is closest to grocery bags in texture. Grocery bags or trash bags trimmed and having legs cut in them (reinforce the legs with tape) will do. Or you can use plastic wrap, and just wrap the diaper in that, which is very nice, as it will make the diaper tighter, trap heat more efficiently, and provide a nice texture on the outside. A little bit expensive though.

The one problem that's hard to solve is absorbance. Even the best home made diapers are magnitudes leakier than even a low quality(but genuine) disposable diaper. So unless you want to stuff some maxi pads in your diaper I wouldn't recommend wetting it unless it is very thick and you can dispose of or wash it reliably.

That's about as much as I have to share as someone who McGyvered a great many diapers when he was in middleschool.
