It's a bit tricky. I also got into this by sole interest.
(And sorry for the delay of my answer, english is not my native language)

As I'm using Linux, the software I use is GIMP.
But if you choose Photoshop, thats completely ok. The process will nearly be the same:

1. At first, choose a picture you like and then search for an abdl picture, where the perspective onto the diaper is fitting to the original picture's character. If both do not share the same perspective, the diaper will miss details of at least one side and look crooked. Also consider picture sizes! Otherwise, the diaper could be pixelized or be overly detailed compared to the character.

2. Then, include both pictures in the Gimp/Photoshop project as separate layers and start to cut out the diaper from the abdl picture. I usually choose the lasso tool, because it gives me the most freedom to cut outside of the pencil lines. With a completely selected diaper, i create a new layer from that and purge the original abdl picture.

3. Tricky part! This involves size changes, rotation, warping and perspective tools. Take your time practising to position the diaper over the original image in order to make it look like it was drawn there originally. Unfortunately, I can give little advice to this part, since I mostly try multiple ways on one project, until I get a satisfying result. I also am training to get this right - so step 1 is most important in this process!

4. Colors: Some pictures have ambient light in them. You'd want to imitate that. Select the layer containing the diaper and play with the color settings. Also the burn/dogde tools (slight intensivity) can very helpful to get shadowing/lighting done right. (If you are not sure, if you're doing right in this step, you can always create a new layer of the diaper just for testing)

5. Shadows: Look at the original picture to interprete the shadow effects and try to imitate them underneath the diaper. I usually take a color sample of the shadow color from the original picture, create a new layer and start painting there (with the layer being underneath the diaper layer). Some hentai pictures just have a linear shadow area, others use transitioning shadows.

Sometimes you have to do additional stuff:

Well, the standards for "first time" is usually to give them as much attention as possible. How that attention manifests itself is dependent on your relationship with your little (are you two more Dom/Sub, or does it lean more towards nurturing?) but come prepared to provide that.

I recommend taking them a stuffed animal of some kind if they're into that, make it something personal. Alternatively, a trip to a Build-A-Bear is a very different experience for a little while still giving them something that they can hug and remember you by when you have to separate again. A stuffed animal is just my suggestion, but you can take them anything that you think they'd appreciate most, but I'd highly recommend an item of significant permanence.

Hopefully you already know your little's boundaries, but if you don't then be wary of them when you go for your visit. You don't want to freak them out. In fact making them uncomfortable is one of the last things you want to do (again, unless that's your dynamic... somehow) as adding that to the distance could be a wedge in your relationship.

Lastly, be the best you that you can be. This is more general advice, but don't try to be Gaston or some shit. Just be you, but be a damn good you - wear nice clothes, take some extra time to groom up, present yourself. I feel like this one's common knowledge, but some people just don't get how important that shit is.

Funny story, I actually mailed her a big stuffed bear for valentines (along with some diapers) and she loves it, I see her with it all the time, and that just makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. I was actually thinking of bring a few items with me as gifts, little things like coloring books. I wanted to get her a blanket too, but it's hard to find something like that where I live...I'm definitely down for visiting a store with her, we were even thinking of a costume shop she knows about.

If you're down to order stuff, there's all sorts of things you could get for her on Storeenvy or Amazon, like cute designed bags or accessories. Alternatively pacifiers are a big hit, and getting her an adult sized one (like a Nuk5) would likely be greatly appreciated, especially if she doesn't have one. Like you said, blankets and coloring books are good too, and perhaps you could even jump for something like a sippy cup or two if she's into that sort of thing. If you're struggling to find a blanket (and don't want to settle for Wal-Mart junk) then I'm sure you can find something nice on Amazon for reasonable shipping. If you wanted to throw together a sort of Little's Care Package basket of treats I'm sure she'd love that too, but don't solely provide a consumable - use those in addition to things like stuffed animals or pacifiers, which last longer (and are therefore better).

If she likes diapers, why not spring for some of the good stuff and get her a bag of LittlePaws or some of the new Lavenders? Falls under the "consumables" section and is expensive, but if you've got the cash I'm sure she'd be thrilled.

Hehe, funny you mention little paws, I've gotten her a package of those before, and she's got a few tykables now. I actually got a crazy deal on a case of them when they were clearing the canada stock, so I still have several for her (I keep them here for storage), and I might bring a package just in case.

Well, if you're bringing a package "just in case", I had the crazy idea of presenting my little with a fully stocked diaper bag when I introduced her to ABDL/DDLG (long story, but it worked). If that's not too out of your element you could always do that for her as a present as well... If that wouldn't freak her out. I don't know your little.

And sending it ahead of time just requires a bit of communication between you and her, to just sort of hold it over and not open it until you get there, if she can deal with anticipation. I wish you the best of luck anon, and I hope that your visit with your little is full of cuddling and such.

Yeah, the BDSM realm doesn't really look fondly on DDLG, but it's becoming more and more accepted as time goes on. Prior to our relationship, we worked together for a period of time and then ended up going to an anime convention together. After the convention, we ended up hooking up (awkwardly, because we're both spazzy n' shit) and I eventually told her about DDLG/ABDL. Things have gone all right from there, and we're just around the corner from our one year mark coming up at the end of this month.

Now Littles are a tag on Fetlife if you want to go looking into a huge pool of people, but I'm personally not super big on Fet. If you want a little-specific place to go, I'd recommend DDLG World. They split off of another DDLG specific site to do their own thing, and it's an alright place. DDLG/ABDL is a kink, so of course you've got your kinksters wanding around, but everyone's usually pretty chill, and safety for littlespace is encouraged. Trust me, there's a lot of people who are interested in it.
