More generally, to the writers in this thread, I have a (silly, admittedly) question. How can I make sure my smut is good? What separates "good" from "okay" in your subjective opinion? What makes boners rise and panties wet?

I feel kind of like I'm not really getting the right "spark", like with the conjoined twin fic. I worry that I'm just stringing together lots of pretty, sexual words that aren't actually arousing anyone, and that people who like what i write are only doing because they enjoyed it as a regular fic--or worse yet, that they are just trying to be nice.

At the same time, though, I realize i've generally got a low libido aside from my kinks, so i can't be too sure.

Beyond the smut (and a correct grasp on grammar), you need actual characters and a coherent setting for your story. Reading the script of a porn flick can be arousing, certainly, but so would be watching said porn flick.

The written word's strength is to be evocative and stimulate imagination. Play into it.

If we're talking about GW creations? Take a look through the Xenology book.

Q'orl are one of my favorites. They're a small, hostile xenos pocket-empire with expansionist tendencies, but limited by their lack of warp travel. The book notes that they've discovered how to mind control a Navigator by injecting a maggot into the victim's brain. They communicate via pheromones (it's implied that the Eldar used those specific organs to create the Tau Ethereals) and feed on blood. It's possible for individuals to be at least passingly friendly with humans despite the hostility of their wider species.

There's also the Thyruss, who are luminous blobby tentacle-jellyfish creatures, that believe the whole universe is a stage and they are actors upon it. Described as hopelessly throwing waves and waves of infantry at fortified positions, or crushing tiny enemy garrisons with war machines, entirely in keeping with their bizarre sense of dramatic narrative. I'll throw a picture on in the next post.

Also, that picture; all of my yes. Multi-armed guys don't get nearly as much attention as they should.

I'd disagree with that quite strongly, actually. First person is best for conveying a character's feelings and emotions. It allows you to paint a very intimate portrait of whoever you're writing about. Third person, by contrast, is best for telling a story, since you can jump about from character to character or even move to a word-of-god perspective for describing the wider setting. Second person IMO is a rather awkward form of writing - it takes the limited perspective of first person and then makes an enormous amount of assumptions about the reader, which is likely to turn off anyone who doesn't fit that description.

Unless you're tailoring the story to one person's feelings in particular, no. No, it really isn't.

The fact of the matter is that all three perspectives have their pros and cons, and which one is ideal for a given fic depends wholly on what you're actually trying to get out of the fic. Trying to argue that one is somehow objectively better than the others is a waste of time.

I for one couldn't care less about which perspective you use when you write, so long as the writing itself is good. Now would you and whoever it is you're arguing with stop arguing and make more smut?

People like me write fiction about characters that are meant to be more than just stand-ins for a reader, with room to grow and develop as a story in its own right beyond the strictly pornographic aspects of it.

PAL on the other hand seem to be more interested in depicting a sexual fantasy and providing a place for the reader to "jump in", jerk off, and go without wasting time creating characters for the reader to identify themselves with.

Both of those are equally valid ways of going about writing. You don't have to like them both equally or even like them both at all, but the approaches are in themselves neither inherently good or bad. What matters is what you actually do with them.

You're not helping your case in any way, shape or form. If anything, it makes you look thin-skinned and unwilling to listen to ang one who isn't praising you to the skies- and if that's really the case, I strongly suggest you leave at once and never return.

And as much of a.douche the other guy is, he has a point. Second person is good for interactive fiction and CoC-like games, but for actual narratives it only works if perfomed by an expert. Interactivity simply has no place in the kind of narratives that are most favored here, and if you want to grow you have to abandon the idea that the reader ought to feel as if he is personally participating in the story.

But if you sincerely want to improve in other aspects of writing as well, stop getting so defensive about how you write (and inviting even more shitposts) and do yourself a favor and at least try one of the other modes of writing instead. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain from it, so what reason could you possibly have not to do it?

Besides, most people here couldn't care less about text porn games anyway. If that's what your heart is set on, ask the /d/ games general for advice instead.

Write what you want but try to be open to criticism. This is no longer a productive discussion, but the original comment does have some merit. By writing in second person, particular with the subjects you write, you turn off a huge part of your audience. There is plenty of reason to write in second person, but keep in mind that it necessarily implicates the reader. When you write heavy dom/sub, you automatically alienate half of your possible audience. That's fine if you're writing for /gfd/ or one of the sissy threads, but this is an "anything goes" general. Again, I'm not telling you what to do, but you should keep this in mind. I know I cannot be the only one who has not read more than one of your stories because I dislike second-person futadom.

That depends entirely on what kind of fetishes you're looking at. I think I almost see what you're getting at, but I'm not sure if I see the purpose or appeal. Most fetishes that diverge between smut and real life would probably end really, really quickly and in non-sexy death. For instance, vore would always end in suffocation, unbirthing would end in suffocation and massive internal bleeding, and really large insertions generally just don't work in the first place.

Option 1:

Still a big nope. I have a pretty big hang-up about the idea of getting pregnant, so any sort of sexual themes which touch upon pregnancy, childbirth, and the like will ruin a piece of porn for me whether it's written or drawn. About the furthest I could go is having a creature deposit some eggs inside its partner, so long as it was noted that there was no way they would be viable and would be passed out shortly afterwards. It took longer than I thought, but I finally got around to reading this. I probably should have heeded the tags a bit better; I wasn't expecting it to be quite so "hella gay". I expected all trap and was unpleasantly surprised. That being said, that is a matter of pure opinion and doesn't actually change any of my opinions.

I think you need to be a bit more careful with your main character. I don't think that anyone who has ever read porn would be surprised where the story went, but I don't believe that it followed from the character you showed. The prologue should have illustrated a portion of her hidden side (perhaps she wears something racy under her suit or plays with herself at her desk) so that it doesn't seem like she just turns into a man and decides that she might as well turn into a trap whore.

Her partner also defied reason. His partner turned into a man and blazed a cummy trail through the town, turning his son gay and involving him in orgies. He responds by being kinda mad and asking her for help. I'm not buying it. I know that he is hardly an important character, considering what you are going for, but I do not believe it would be difficult to either make him a bit more believable or cut out his part in the epilogue. He just is not believable as presented.

As far as smut goes, nothing particularly stood out, either positively or negatively. I personally would have preferred an exclusive focus on the trap getting fucked, but that is just my preference. More objectively, I think that the scene where both the trap and his boyfriend are getting fucked needs better focus. Describing the scene from the trap's perspective was a good choice, but I think that you could have done more to mesh what is happening to him and what he is watching. As it were, it felt a bit clunky.

Then again - a bit of discomfort can be good in a smut story, so that's not really a complaint. Tags would clear it up anyway.

The good part is that the pacing is right and the whole process of "resisiting until it becomes less painful to give in" id described quite well, neither rushed through or dragged on endlessly.

the bad is that you tell too much where you should be showing. Worse, there are moments where you actually switch PoVs without probably realizing it. Phrases like "Oh no..." are the character realizing something, but they feel jarring since the reader (who is supposed to be the character) can only realize what the character just did the next sentence when you describe what is happening.

All in all, I can't say I enjoyed it. Too much of "you do this, you feel that" being thrown around. At the risk of sounding horribly blunt, it felt more like reading a DIY instruction guide than a smut story to me.

Sustenance, first and foremost. Any Dark Eldar trapped outside the webway is going to need to secure a steady diet of pain and suffering if they're going to survive long enough to get back. You could spin that as the Guardsman being a complete masochist, or being selfish and cruel enough that he's willing to assist in the capture and management of a third character.

Alternatively, Dark Eldar are arrogant, but they aren't stupid. They know what the stakes are if they die, and having an extra gun on your side is going to help a lot if they're trapped behind enemy lines, so to speak. I could easily see a Commorite being willing to suffer a great deal of what they would view as degrading treatment in the short term if it saved them from death and subsequent torture by Slaanesh. Of course, as soon as she no longer requires the human, she's going to repay every humiliation, slight, and injustice (whether real or imagined) about a thousand times over, so.

Basically, you state facts flat-out. eg. "You feel wrong. You can’t see, you can’t hear. Your body can’t move." that's telling.


The trick is to describe things without stating facts, yet nonetheless leave no doubt about what is happening in the reader's mind.

Simple example:
Telling: "Jeanne is an old woman that has trouble walking due to her age."
Showing: "Jeanne approaches slowly with hesitant steps, her back bowed. Her gnarled hand clings to a walking stick that clatters on the cobblestones for support as she shuffles forward to speak with us."

Both sentences convey the same information, but showing draws the reader in and forces him to imagine things.

Now, you will remark that showing often asks for a lot more wordy sentences, so the trick is to find the correct balance between both, and the amount of details written down.

If you're looking for ideas/requests;
Patriarch/Magus. She's tall, gaunt, completely hairless like all Hybrids, with only a slightly pronounced ribcage and pointed fingernails. The Patriarch is about twice her size, though obviously pretty hunched, and sat on a throne with her facing him in his lap. They should look pretty intimate together, despite the difference in their anatomies.

For something less mushy, a more rough and aggressive picture. Regular genestealer this time, looming over a partially undressed victim. She's lying on her back, pinned in place by its primary claws, while it uses its lower arms to hold her legs apart and pull her deeper.

Dunno if either of these take your fancy, but there's no harm tossing them out.

well, now that I think about it more:
Eldar and Imperials are trying to scour a massive cave complex of tyranids, but some of the squads get lost. This is caused by the zoanthrope(s) messing with people's minds as they delve deeper and deeper. Eventually, some of the squads of banshees and sisters come to be very suspicious of one another (they weren't very trusting to begin with) and when two such squads meet, they are about spill blood, their minds too focused on the possible enemy in front of them that the 'nids mentally dominate all the females, having them pleasure their new alien masters while being whisked away deeper into the caves to form a new breeding nest.

The kind of creature I'm thinking of is something like a gryphon or dragon, who wouldn't be able to jack off because their dick is in a sheath, and has never found a woman. So they know what sex is and how it's supposed to be, and that cumming buckets at light stroking isn't normal. But rather than backing out when they realize what they signed up for, they go through with it. They find themselves drawn to greater and greater pleasures, even though they know experiencing that kind of mind-melting pleasure isn't what sex usually is. As for the Tyranid fluff questions; they can't fall to/worship Chaos, but they can be corrupted and mutated by it, just like any other physical material can. There's fluff describing the Hive Mind sending a small fleet into a warp rift as an experiment; it didn't turn out too well, as the synaptic network broke down and the Tyranids themselves were overcome by rampant mutation and cannibalistic insanity.

There are some Tyranids noted to be capable of independent reproduction - generally the more basic creatures, like Hormagaunts, Termagants, and Gargoyles. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that long-range scout organisms like Lictors might be capable of it, since it might be quicker for them to breed together than deploy more from a still-inbound fleet. And there are examples of Tyranid swarms which have become marooned or separated from their parent Fleets multiplying and evolving into higher forms on their own, so under certain circumstances, normally asexual creatures might begin to display sexual characteristics.

Sure. You should separate the direct speech from the rest of the sentence. Take for instance line 37. You need punctuation after "Humans", "hands" and "you".

For instance (the exact way is up to you):

You also sometimes forget the sentence's closing period (like in lines 47, 49 and 51), but that's less of a problem since the reader can see the sentence is over even without it.
