You don't even know half of it, it is much more tragic than that because we literally were good friends. When we were even younger w were together in summer camps TWICE and stuff and our birthdays were even less than a week apart.

But thing is that I was growing physically weak and in turn mentally as well. When we had sports events I was put together with girls in contests like say track running and even like that I was beaten by some girls. By her I got beaten easily, she was contesting the guys in stamina.

So I have been bullied by other guys a lot and shit so in a few years I grew distant from everyone. I did manage to get better by the end of the last year, I shit you not, after one soccer match the prettiest girls (her included) from class asked me to go with them to hang out. They did it out loud among everyone. Then of course all the guys started to laugh. What did I do? I screamed "NOOOOO" and ran away (biggest mistake of my life). Our class got separated after grade school and I never sew her again. I did find her like 15 years later on a social network site, she had become a soldier, she was married and had kids since then I am forgetting about her.

Looking back it all seems surreal outright absurd even. If someone told me this story I would think he is bullshitting me but it seriously happened, I can't believe I was such an idiot when I was a kid. Stop worrying about being skinny and not being able to lift much. EVERYONE has started from the bottom. Even the big scary looking guys were once skinny or fat and couldn't lift for shit. The only way you'll improve is by doing something about it. Also you can completely disregard /fit/. The only good part about that board is the sticky which is quite good and you should probably read it.

Start doing starting strength and eating properly and you'll see some incredibly fast results. Maybe not looks wise straight away but you will be lifting more weights each time you go to the gym when you're starting out. The most important part is that you eat enough. If you don't get enough proteins and calories your muscles won't have the nutrients they need to grow. Obviously this means you might put on some fat also but it's to be expected. Don't worry about it for now as you can easily drop the fat and keep the muscles. You can also train without gaining any fat but that means a really well calculated diet and slower results.

Thanks for all the advice anon ! Phew, I'm glad you say that, because in order to start training, reading /fit/'s sticky is exactly the first thing I've done, I've never looked at the actual board except for the pics.

I've kind of adapted my diet as the sticky's link advises and I'm doing some equipment-free training based on push-ups and other exercises. But I don't go to the gym yet and also I don't calculate my calories and proteins, I just randomly guess how much I need based on my hunger... I should do that more seriously, the first step is to find where to buy a fucking scale...
I'm relieved about the fat gain, I didn't really understand how that worked.

Sorry for all the chat, but I'm wondering if my actual training is any good.. I follow some kind of beginner programme involving 12 different exercises, with +- 30'' effort and +- 30'' rest between each rep, and at least 2 sets. But I often get too sore to even make it past 2 sets... All that like 3-4 times a week and I haven't found a good way to cardio yet. Are they gonna give me some guidance at the gym or will they just let me use their equipment and do my shit alone ?

I realize I'm going a bit too far into details sorry about that. Oh well, I wrote it all already.

I seriously recommend that you buy starting strength and read it. It will explain everything in detail and much more when it comes to training. It's gonna pay itself back almost instantly.

Calculating your calories isn't that important. What's more important that you get enough proteins and you're on caloric excess. You'll most likely also gain fat but as already said you can drop the fat while keeping muscles once you think you've gotten too much fat on you.

Your program is most likely shit. Most of the programs that you can find online are shit. Hell most of the programs you can buy from gyms are shit or at least not optimal. Barbells and large compound movements are king when it comes to training. Starting strength will explain all this in much better detail. 3 - 4 times a week is fine. I only go to the gym 3 times a week. If you go too often you won't have time to recover enough between the visits and you won't improve at all. Letting your body recover between training sessions is just as important as the training itself.

When it comes to gyms find one with plenty of barbells and free weights. Machines are shit. All gyms operate on principle that you either pay monthly fee or per visit and can then use the equipment and do your shit. Some gyms offer personal trainers that will guide you through your workout. However you gotta pay for them and they usually don't come cheap. If you buy and read starting strength you won't need any more guidance. And if you still feel unsure on how to do something don't be afraid to ask someone. Most people at gyms are friendly if you ask nicely, just don't do it when they're mid set.
