Nobody ever does and FC Dev started making the game in the first place to learn how to code

And to be honest chances are that you still couldn't really do that then because that would mean that you couldn't extend the game beyond the boundaries of your code anymore

Don't expect old saves to work as long as you want new stats and functions

I don't know from experience because I work with different programs, but I believe I've heard twine has some quirks when it comes to save systems.

Besides, backwards compatible saves are difficult to maintain in any language, they essentially require you to verify the existence of every variable and put in exceptions or replacements for any components that are no longer functional in new versions or won't exist in old versions. Not fun.

It's always possible to have both new content and backwards compatible saves, but that's on FC to waste a lot of time on it. Kind of a hit and miss with the community if you expend the time to concentrate on boring structural matters like that, instead of something fun for both the dev to make and the player to enjoy.

The backwards compatibility is a Twine issue. From my understanding, saves store the 'state' variable and the engine just replaces the active state with the one being loaded. If you introduce new passages, or possibly even change existing ones, then the old state isn't compatible.

Made a new copy of the Defiler Wings folder from the same .zip I used before. Merged the Game folder and replaced Interactions.rpy.

I started the game and chose To The Free Kingdoms, Rural Area, and Prowl Around until I found an event that gave me a girl. Each following line break represents one click of my mouse.

-I got the "Girls at the edge of the woods gather berries and sing." event.
-Chose Snatch a Virgin, and the screen changed to show the relevant text.
-"Common folk will notice this misdeed."
-Showed a picture of the girl's face and said, "The rural girl is named Anneth."
-I was shown a menu with the standard options: Defile and impregnate, Take back to the lair, Let her go, and Eat her lustfully. I chose Defile and impregnate.
-Shows the picture of the girl with her name next to it and a text box that says, "Ah...no, no, not there...oh..."
-Text at the top of the screen that says, "You rape her" with pic related shown. There's a semi-transparent gray box covering up most of the screen, however.
-Same menu as before, now missing the Defile and impregnate option. I chose Eat her lustfully.
-Her face, her name, "Aaaaaaaah!...."
-"You eat her" text at the top with image 2 from the "eat" folder shown. Still has that transparent grey box covering up most of the screen.
-I am returned to the Free Kingdoms area.

So it seems to have worked. I guess the text box (I'm assuming that what is is) has always been visible but it seems more noticeable when it's covering up the sex scenes. Let me know if there's any more information you need out of me.
