Something like the mask may not be sentient or anything but somehow rather relies on the wearer in order to achieve a sense of "existence." I like it for a few reasons, mainly reasons already mentioned.

I personally like to think the masks are just that, masks, not sentient transformation things, just cute masks girls wear because they're either shy or want to be lewd and naughty anonymously.
