What is the most beautiful food in the world and why is it mochi?
Playdoh is your ideal of beauty?

>he doesn't like mochi
You don't deserve those trips

Mochi is confirmed to be edible but not really good
I ate this and it was so disgusting i instinctively pushed it out of my mouth with my tongue and it just dribbled back into my hand as though i was a toddler. my friend stared in horror. I had been so excited to eat it cause it is such a fun shape but the reality is an unspeakable disappointment.

It's just not good. Sometimes people put things inside of it that is good, but the mochi itself is still pretty bland. It's colorful, sure, but that doesn't make it good.
And as for most beautiful, it is effectively the same appearance of play-doh.

BACK THE FUCK OFF!?!?!?!?!
Mochi is a goddamned treasure.

Japan advertises a lot of its stuff very well. If there is anything Japan is good at it is selling themselves. Doesn't make it good.
>>59842
It is good. There are few things as lovely to eat as mochi.
Is mochi possible to be home made? Can the ingredients be aquired in a normal shop?
Mochi is heavenly, I can't believe this thread
>>60624
Yeah, definitely. The main ingredient you'll have to worry about is the mochiko/rice flour. It obviously depends on where you live but it shouldn't be too hard to find. Like if not your supermarket there's Asian specialty stores or places like World Market that might have it.
As far as rainbow-colored foods go, macarons look nice.
>>60873
don't those have nuts in them?
>>59153
Mochi is garbage
>>60889
no, they're like the sweetest best thing ever my ex used to be obsessed with them
Mochi are cute, but beautiful is this: Osmanthus Jelly with Wolfberries (桂花糕)
Mochi is lovely when it's not filled with eastern dessert fillings that most of us as won't like/be used to, like red anko beans (which are disgusting sorry), black sesame & green tea.
Yo Suchi does a chocolate mousse mochi that'd bring tears of joy to your eyes

Macarons are like cookies made from almond meringue, I think? I've never actually had them.
Mochi is actually the dough. It's made from rice flour and is slightly sweet and chewy. The dumpling-like things are desserts called daifuku. They're traditionally filled with anko like >>61311 said but also fruit and whatnot.
You should try mochi ice cream some time.
>>61311
how old are you? ah, no matter. not everyone, even westerners, have a dislike for "eastern dessert fillings" like you do. opinions, man.
speak for yourself, not for the whole.
mochi ice cream is a thing too.

I followed this recipe and they turned out good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo55230BiNY
Sticks like a cunt though, probably better to microwave
>>59153
Mochi is definitely up there as one of the cutest things I've eaten and frozen mochi is definitely up there with one of the most delicious treats I've had.
it's nasty
>>61233
Sure, if you want to eat gelatinized perfume.
>>61311
Give new foods a try, you have got to try taro filling and green bean filling. Royal Family is a Taiwanese brand of mochi that exports a brown-sugar filling too.
>>59153
what is mochi like on it's own? I'm american so I've only had mochi ice cream (which is the shit, mango+red bean 4 lyfe).
I bought matcha mochi at an asian supermarket, I like the taste but I can't get past the gelatinous texture. Would not eat again.

Taro is best flavor.
Agree or fight me.
>>60873
Hey I recognize those!
>>62313
A big appeal to the dish is the fragrance you feel as you chew down, it's a delicious low in sugar summer treat.
>>62609
I hope you've tried Taro Ice Cream, especially in a waffle. Market Village as a shop that does ice cream waffle with taro ice cream (also mango, green tea, etc).
Every T&T Supermarket has Taro, so does No Frills in Super Asian Areas.
petit fours are colorful AND tasty, everyone loves tiny little cakes
>Dango is made from mochiko but Mochi is not
I am confused, please help

IKEA have these yellow easter marzipan right now, they are pretty and delicious, around the size of a golf ball for $1.49 Canadian each.
I need to try the usual pink ones, I wonder if it's just a difference in colour or if there is a difference in ingredient as well.
That reminds me, I need to hit up Allan's Pastery at Peanut Plaza for an "easter bun" or a easter loaf, it's this cake/bread full of dried fruit that is eaten with cheddar cheese, amazingly good.
>>62609
I agree to fight you, red bean ice cream or death
>>59153
What does it even taste like?
