>>
>>94499860
>3 days before the last day of school
graduating is determined long before then. the last month of school is just prep for the passing of the diplomas. making sure you get your gown and hat and all that

>another guy failed gym
actually impossible. this does not fucking happen no matter who you are unless you literally never show up for a single second. the coaches do NOT give a single shit if you are a senior. they know youre on your way out and everybody in school takes it easy on you, especially them. i literally didnt go to gym class for almost 4 months in the last half of the school year and i still got 90s for the times i wasnt there. this guy had to had never ever shown up or crossed the coaches in some way because senior year is a breeze
>have to make up math credit i didnt have but no one told me about until last few months of school
>teacher just does the work for me and lets me go
thats how easy it is. that girl is stupid and either passed or didnt by the time she left and just never bothered to pick up her diploma and that guy had to have been the worst piece of shit in school to fail gym in senior year

You underestimate now easy "No Child Left Behind" made it for retards to graduate high school.

I graduated with all A's back in the day. Then 5 years later, my friend's little brother graduates from the same school despite having *literally* all F's, because the school had already met its quota for failed students that year, and would lose federal funding if they failed any more students. So he (and others) got a free pass.

We have the same diploma, from the same school. Mine became worthless that day. Yes, I am mad about it.
>>
>>94499577
It was a statement about how paper qualifications don't matter.

He went back to school, got a diploma, and still works at the same job, doing the same shit, for the same pay. He just wanted the diploma, not to actually change his living conditions. The latter matters, the former doesn't.

Wow, mine too. Did we all go to the same school?

Granted, I completely forgot that high school reunions are a thing. And being a NEET who has not had contact with any of these people in that long, I absolutely won't be going.
>>
>>94500395

It won't. To end it would mean completely destroying the current system. But that system is too profitable.

The only chance would be changing the whole student loan system and financial aid, but that's not happening unless the loan bubble bursts.

This, as far as we know he never got a job after getting with Eileen, they never elaborated and the only theory I've seen was that he made the game that his daughter was playing, and while that would've been great, they didn't do anything to make you think he was anything more than a stay at home dad.

Even in a Q&A no one ever said if he had a job or what he might be doing, but we got that CJ might be a professional volleyball player who doesn't speak with the cast anymore and that Margaret moved up in the news world and can travel abroad with the job. That's more than we ever were hinted that the main character Rigby's endgame was. No one even knows what Eileen's deal is, she was shown making sandwhiches for him and that was it, one of them has to have a fucking job to live in the house, support 3 kids, and have luxury appliances.

But in the end it's a cartoon, maybe they both really don't have a fucking job and Rigby's going to be a bum forever, he certainly wasn't a better man in the final few seasons despite insisting he was.

It seemed mandated from CN so that a main character wouldn't be that much of a bad influence, because despite the graduation arc, he never earned it, he cheated consistently and in the end nothing changed except the occasional reminder that he graduated. I think CN wanted a face value "he got better" in a coming of age type thing for the kids watching.

CN kept demanding guns be removed, innuendos be dropped, and the characters be a role model at least slightly.

"this fucker" here... my school wasn't kind. I missed a week of school because I was sick and the school board refused to let me make it up, I tried and tried but they kept having these random fucking teacher work day shifts where when I went in they said "we'll let you know when there's an available day" but never got in contact, if I didn't make up this time, I'd fail. No summer school option, just fucking fail. Saturday school? Nah, the principal is doing some shit and the teachers are being pansies and don't want to come in to watch kids, and the cameras aren't working. Stay after school on a weekday? Simple no, what the fuck was the reason? I managed to make up 3 of 5 days and then they said it didn't matter and I'd have to repeat the classes or some shit and set me back a grade.

I dropped out to get a GED because at that time it'd have a quicker payoff time by the time I'd have graduated, but then I ran into financial issues and the one fucking college I could get into was destroyed in a fire about a month before I dropped out. My friends haven't talked to me since maybe 2009 when I did leave.

I'm aware of the issues after the fact, there's only so much hindsight can get you. I might have to pull a Rigby and get back into getting a GED or HSD or whatever. I mean, I'm still having a job and a house, but nothing can get rid of the shitty looks when you say you dropped out, that's a horrible label, especially since these days it equals a delinquent or someone who had issues at home. I was cut a bad deal and didn't know how or what to do to get out of it. It's just not that simple. I still think I should've moved back then, if I could have, to find another place to afford. The online shit just didn't make the cut.

I've never made a /co/ blogpost before, fuck now I'm pissed.

I'll probably sound like an old grandpa, but I think that video games legitimately have ruined some lives tbqh, or delayed them heavily.

It's amazing that civilization and technology has made them possible, but to some extent vidya and social media just makes it harder for teens to fulfill even half of their potential. And it seems to have some connection (although not a solid one) to depression and slowly rising suicide rates in that age group. It's hard to tell how much should be placed at the personal responsibility of teens, since teens are always going to be more impulsive and stupid than a 25 year old.

The problems of the people who fail to graduate high school don't necessarily have much to do with schooling itself.

Senior year of HS I had someone in my classes who literally never participated in any of the classes, never turned anything in, and argued with the teachers when they told him to get off his phone

None of the teachers even attempted any disciplinary action ever, probably because they knew his parents would freak the fuck out and make a shitshow out of it

It's seeming so. It just makes RS ending hurt worse because he struck a personal track with me, RS was the fucking shit, now his new show might just be shit and I can't enjoy it.

It just doesn't have the flavor. I liked every character in RS to some extent, even Muscle Man. It was a fun show and went all out, sometimes bland, but never a dull season. S6 just gets shit reputation because Married and Broke and Dumped at the Altar, Real Thomas too despite being a huge special. I miss Thomas too but shit did get crazy in that episode- which is what I'm explaining.

Even if JG's new show went crazy and unpredictable, the characters just don't seem fun. I liked RS despite its animated sitcom format, it had shit going for it, but damn man, CE has very little going for it aside from JG. William Salyers isn't even in it, maybe not even Sam Marin. JG picked street tier voice actors because he wanted a real discussion feel, these new characters just feel tight and restricted.

I hope I don't have to say RIP J.G. Quintel.

It's more complex when you know the context. She hates the world she's in, largely because she sees herself as a useless, stupid loser. She has no self esteem, and she's pretty much given up even trying because she knows she'll just fail. Plus, according to her dad, she has issues sticking to things, even if she cares about it.

But on the other hand, her parents are totally right about her needing to clean up her act and try harder. Her father even gives her job applications to help her. Her parents aren't wrong or unsympathetic for trying to help her; it's just that they have trouble understanding what the root of the problem is, and just see her as lazy. Which just makes Gwen feel even worse.

For the record, she eventually does get a job.

>its not MY fault im a failure, it was THEM
there was a point, like halfway through high school, where i kind of had an awakening. one day i just woke up and i no longer thought like you did. the world wasnt keeping me down. nobody had it out to get me. it was my own fault. i was a fuck up and a creep and people didnt like me and i was failing classes because of that. i never consciously thought that i was being put down by everyone, but after i snapped out of it, i realized thats how i was seeing life.

grow up man. snap out of it. only kids think like that
>>
>>94503624
thats why i never tried in school. i saw that happening in middle school. my hard work was overlooked but the retards in class got actual praise for getting a D. i dont like calling myself smart, but i was smart enough that i didnt need to try or work hard to pass classes, so i didnt. i got by on low classwork grades and the best test grades in class.

however, i now have no drive to do anything. since i got by on being mediocre because being good was not rewarded, i now have no drive to improve myself and cant find the energy to do more than i have to do. this is a problem with myself now that im an adult and i cant blame my old teachers. its up to me to get out of this mindset but i just cant do it

There was legitimately nothing I could do to make up the time, and it was a damn great idea to get my GED ahead of when I'd even graduate high school after such a dead end, it just so happened right when the track was about to run everything fucked up, insurance bullshit- unexpected life issues that required money loss, just a trainwreck. I'm not denying I didn't fuck up prior, but I explicitly dropped out with decent, very much passing, grades but I knew due to "you missed time and you didn't make it up" I'd be right back in the same grade because shitty regulations.

By the time I'd have gotten by GED it might've been either a bit before or on cue with when I would've graduated high school. Cut the bullshit of maybe getting sick again or some other shit happening and you have a nice plan, in and out with a GED. I had no idea what was going to happen, it's not farfetched that it happened. The teachers weren't out to get me, they just didn't care in general, or if they did they were genuinely caught up with other shit to help 1 kid pass. After the shit with the finances there might've been something I could've done, again, maybe do a big life change and relocate, find some shitty school just to get the damn paper, but in the end I just jumped to a job and it worked out.

I'm not suffering badly and saying those damn teachers! or anything, it was just a bad hand. In the end I'm just upset I have the label "Highschool Dropout", I'm not pissed at anyone but there are a few things I wish went differently- of course.

Despite everything, just because, I might pull a Rigby, I have a place to live and a job, but I still want that stupid label away from my name.

>100 hours of community service
They did this at my school as a requirement to take part of the graduation ceremony and they were super picky about where you could get hours (no schools, camps, libraries, churches since they were popular I guess). I was gonna skip the graduation and just pick up my diploma the next Monday. Then somebody set a fire in the office and the administration just let everyone walk.
I never did get to thank whoever that salty dropout was for making my mom proud of my lazy ass.

>>94508316
nigga i have a nephew, who has dropped out of high school because he says everyone would bully him for being gay, even the teachers. and that nobody would help, the principal wouldnt help, the superintendent didnt help. there was NOTHING he could do and couldnt get any help, so he left.

that just wasnt true. he has yet to snap out of that kiddy funk of thinking the world is against them. he makes connections and excuses about how hard he tried but everyone fucked him anyway.

thats how im reading your story, because thats how it reads. maybe you did get a bad hand and every single piece fell into the wrong place, but you tell it more like how i used to in high school and how my nephew currently tells it. you tell it like you tried really hard and looked for all the help and looked at every option, yet the world fucked you. you sound like youre making excuses so that we dont think youre a fuckup.

my man if this is not the case, then get a GED and stop worrying about it. you passed high school and no one can give you shit about it

It did happen, but I get what you're saying.

I know I was doing fine, and again I even tried to take it down a notch saying maybe the teachers were just busy, but in the end everything went awry- not as planned.

The only issue at all here is that I hate the negativity of the label, my life is fine, I managed to make it, again with a job and a house. It genuinely wasn't my fault except the dropping out decision, but at the time it was the best route, it's just that out of nowhere shit happened and I couldn't get there. That's it.

Again, I might get my GED, I'm not entirely depressed about the matter or mad, but it does suck that at this moment I have the name high school drop out. That's just it my man. I might or a might not get that GED, either way nothing would change in my life except me being able to say "ah, they can't just call my a HSD now" which isn't even a big deal, it's just a personal issue with the occasional judgement that comes with being seen as a face value dropout.
>>
>>94507211

>>
>>94508653
>I might or a might not get that GED
couldnt hurt. why live life if not for completing small personal goals? if its important to you, its important. its not hard. my mom had to get one and she can barely even speak english and i dont even think she finished basic schooling. you put it off, but you shouldnt. just do it. go take that test and when you get that slip of paper saying you passed, you can confidently walk away from that past with a smile.

if you need more motivation, make a day of it. celebrate like if you actually graduated. get your friends and family and gf/bf and go to a nice restaurant and have fun with your belated celebration.

or dont

quite the opposite as a matter of fact, a very affluent and white area, median income for individuals is 115k, in fact if your family isn't pulling down at least 250k a year you are one of the poor kids that lives north of the train tracks
I grew up in the neighborhood as far south as you can go where it was more along the lines of 300k was the low end of annual income, it was all doctors and the owners of manufacturing businesses down there.
I was one of the "poor" kids because my dad "only" made 80k a year as a printer, and my mom worked here and there too in between having kids. We got into the neighborhood before it was affluent, my grandpa bought the house for 40k in 1975, it was sold in 2015 for 800k.

anyway what I'm getting at is for such an expensive area with such high taxes and largely status dick waving happening so much its unacceptable for our public school to not have an exceptional graduation rate and the school will do anything it can to make sure that happens

>None of my emotions were present in my judgement of such.
You jumped to the assumption that I was both underage and made a le summer comment passive aggressively. I didn't realize there were still unironic fags on /co/ saying "make that post longer, it's not a true sentence if it's that short", "fix that grammar bro", among other trivial things on the internet, especially this site of all places. Assuming I was shitposting and just jumping to start that argument means you didn't consider I genuinely see it for what it has a subjective angle of being, but rather that I was someone to ignore and belittle because of these random assumptions and ideas that we're very uncalled for. I have my opinion and you have yours, despite obviously not agreeing you don't have to whine and make a scapegoat.

Generalization of an age limited item
>>
>>94511324
Everyone I know graduated at 17, some even at 16. Do Americans really not graduate high school by 18? You should be well into university by then. You're an adult.
>>
>>94511384
>Generalization of an age limited item
I wasn't being 100% direct with this specific instance but rather using a broad age limit on an item and setting it as an example that it's basically an age limited food. I used 18 as an example age restriction that is broadly used, and said "it is like something to that nature".
>>
>>94511384
