No, I don't think he ever did. Like even in Season 1 it seemed his army just followed him because he gave them a castle to live in and milkshake privileges, despite the fact he generally treated them badly and obviously just wanted the wand to benefit himself.

I didn't get that vibe, I got more the vibe Jackie was invited as a favor to Marco and that in Just Friends it was just Star putting up a front to see if she could include Jackie with them while not losing time with Marco. Still can't believe it happened, but didn't mind HOW it happened. His death played out pretty much how I'd expected it'd go (Star kills him on her own, Ludo gets his revenge, Toffee loses it) while also being way more brutal/insane than I'd have guessed. I thought it'd be pretty violent because of his regeneration but they went kinda further than I thought they'd be allowed to go.

I wish he'd been shown actively doing more in 2 and 3, it's weird to me that his most appearances were in the first season, though I liked his role in the last episode. I'm sorta mildly concerned where the larger plot will go now that there's not one until Eclipsa shows up, but I can't judge that until it happens.

As a Toffeefag I did want to see more of him but him being dead doesn't bother me as much as I'd thought either. Maybe because it was semi-spoiled by the new wand being shown instead of coming out of nowhere

Does anybody actually buy this as something that could be canon? Even people who look exactly like monsters but aren't from Mewni (background characters at the Bounce Lounge, River's party guests from "Royal Pain") aren't considered monsters. The Mewman definition for "monster" clearly only covers monsters that are native to Mewni. Mewni's surface at that, since demons and mermaids and flying decapitated unicorn heads aren't monsters. Yeah, it keeps surprising me how people just continuously think that there's two types of folks, human-looking and monsters, even though it's been made clear many times this isn't the case.

The svtfoe multiverse has loads of various species, most of whom don't look like humans. Yet only the Mewni natives (and maybe some other dumb species) are considered these hated "monsters", the enemies of the Butterflies.
A whole bunch of other, nonhuman looking peoples, however, are not, just different species.
Demons are one such species. The Underworld, ruled by the royal house of Lucitor, is their neighbouring kingdom and Tom is their crown prince. Unlike the monsters, the demons have magic, hierarchy, a rather refined society, and are considered close allies by the Butterflies. Similarly the Ponyheads, despite being, well, severed pony heads, are considered royalty much like the Butterflies, and Princess Ponyhead is considered a fine companion for Star.

It's a similar relationship irl between the different peoples and races.

Once the other culture in question is sufficiently rich, powerful and prosperous, its people and especially rulers are considered possible allies, and respectable people, kinda like us, just foreigners.
But if there's a strong power / civilization imbalance, and especially if there's disputes over land and resources, the foreign people are easily considered savages and natives who can be oppressed or eradicated to make room for us.

The border between ally-foreigner and savage-foreigner seems to be money, power, civilization and a structured society. It's kinda the same regarding nonhumans in the svtfoe-verse, in my headcanon
