As I mentioned in prior threads, I had repeatedly kept seeming /co/mrades absolutely lambast this series because of Bendis' name on the front and I don't think that's fair. He's definitely written some stinkers but to completely write his off as a writer is doing a disservice to the guy and quite frankly some of his work is actually really good.

They threw a dart for which new character to make "progressive", then chose a convoluted way to make it happen. They just had Jean pull him aside and go "You're totally gay" and he was like "ok", then they confronted his older self and also went "You're super gay" and his older self went "Thank god someone finally knows".

Also doing it to the older self really fucks things over though, and makes it so they can't change it. It just makes some shit confusing since its a retcon, just like all retcons.

Man, this was an amazing issue. This series wasn't afraid to get real. I miss this Bendis. I mean, look at this dialogue. No Bendis speak. At least not really. And the amount of depth and context it gives may is incredible. I like that the series dealt a lot with loss and the grieving process and how the different characters go through it in their own ways.

This was a great intro sequence. I actually wonder if it was influenced at all by the Brendan Frasier Mummy movies as the way Marko forms and turns into a snadstorm reminds me a lot of the Mummy in that movie at least visually. The bullet spitting moment was also very cool.

I totally had a student pull this crap in my class. Admittedly it was an 8AM class but if I'm forced to drag myself there, I expect you to do the same. I wouldn't have gotten in his face like that, but I definitely I would have thrown something like a balled up piece ,of paper or just waited in silence admiring the situation. And before anyone says I'm an asshole for doing that, be aware that for a while I brought my students coffee, creamer, and sugar on some days along with styrofoam cups in case you didn't have a thermos.

I do give out a fair amount of extra credit. Mostly it's when I walk into the room and see half the class missing. I used to just get angry but then I channeled that into giving out extra credit like candy. My students have completed a good number of quizzes where one of the problems is, "Draw a Happy Face" or tell me how much sleep you got last night. Or what I'll do is give them a pop quiz where every question you get right is a point added to an upcoming test.
