And now we have the return of Osborn. WIthout a doubt Norman was Spidey's greatest enemy in the ultimate universe.
>>93999076
This is gonna be good.
>>93999076
It's too bad he only rarely wore his purple cloak and stuff.
And that his characterization was weird and would change infrequently.

Same, it looks wsy better with the cloack

I would say that Osborn doesn't really come into his own until Ultimate Six or War of the Goblins. After that his characterization stayed relatively stable.

>>93999630
Damn, I don't know why they ever got rid of Bagley. I don't think anyone has ever been able to make MJ so cute
I like the idea of Harry and Gwen.
>>93999983
I wish I had an answer. Immonen was a solid choice though to carry the torch.
>>94000047
I'd honestly say that Immonen's MJ was cuter.
>>93999974
Sorry.
>Im not wrong though
I think I have a crush.
>>94000113
Seeing as Bagley's art was the reason I very nearly dropped the book, I'd have to agree.
I think I actually prefer this version of Osborn to 616. Or maybe it's just Slott's iteration that rubbed me the wrong way. I find Osborn so much more interesting when he knows Peter's identity.
That looks like it's gotta hurt.
>>94000290
All Ult Norm needs are clear goals and more resources, and he's basically the best Goblin, personality-wise.
Next to Dafoe's Goblin, that is.
I don't say this often, but Ultimate Osborn frightens me.
Huh, didn't even realize this page was included in the issue.
>>94000374
Shit has decisively, and violently, gotten real
I can't even imagine whats going through Peter's mind.
Fucking hell, Osborn.

It's not like Nick doesn't deserve it. He's an absolute asshole to Peter throughout teh series. Him and Captain America are insufferable..

Fair enough.I recall Nick being a huge ass during the Clone saga when Peter Luck was at it's maximum

Not gonna lie. I love Ultimate Green Goblin. Norman is a scary fucking lunatic and his father complex with Peter is really uncomfortable. And I find pyroclastic Hulk more intimidating than fag on a glider.
>>94001295
While I'm not going to disagree that I find Ultimate Osborn scarier, 616 Osborn has literally crucified one of his employees up against a wall using nothing more than his goblin-rangs.

On a unrelated subject regarding Bagley, I'm also keeping up with Waid's Flash storytime and it's on the Cobalt Blue arc and it made me realize that Waid and Bagley are long-lost twins.

Bagley left on his own terms, he was probably tired of being on the book after 110 issues. We were lucky he stayed as long as he did.

One of the things that always bugged me about this comic series was the coloring errors. There are a bunch of times where someone's eyes or hair are the wrong color.
In this panel, Peter's naked from the waist down, hence the tushy line. For some reason, the colorist gave him yoga pants.
Bagley did a good job of expressing just how pain, Peter is in. It's not the kind of pain that makes you scream in agony, but the kind of pain that interferes with your ability to think because your so focused on just staying conscious.
>I had my ankle shattered as a kid (bone knocked off and rattled around my foot) and I remember using every ounce of energy just to stay awake before I was at the hospital.
>>94003619
I wish I had yoga pants....
>If this is Norman Osborn, I quit.
I wouldn't blame you, Peter.
I remember in an issue of Marvel Knights that Peter will hold it together just long enough to get home before he starts yacking out his insides. Then he basically takes an entire bottle of Tylenol and drops. The world doesn't deserve, Peter.
Oh god no.

>>94001416
Wow, he's high as a kite
>>94009877
I think that was one of the first attempts to really try and explain what's going on through Osborn's head. Too many people just stick with the megalomaniac internal dialog but Bendis turned it up to 11 and I'd argue got great results.
>>94002508

I think I could storytime the conclusion to this. Just that, it won't be the digital version, but a scan of the original, if that's ok?
>>94010494
Are you OP?
If not, then don't
>>94010494
Not OP, no. I just have most of the issues on my PC, tho.
>>94010519
Then don't hijack the storytime
>>94010533
Understood. It wasn't my intention to hijack, just post the conclusion of the arc, which is one more issue.
I used to storytime some books in the past and when I wasn't around, some other people were posting for me until I came back. I wanted to make sure if it's ok with everyone to do that here, too, which is why I asked.
>>94010615
It's usually best to get consent for that first, otherwise you look like a douche
>>94010647
Fair enough.
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
>>94009256
Sounds about right.
I had a bunch of these books in Graphic Novel form, but I skipped this presumably Chameleon arc and went onto Venom. I was always wondering, what is this Latverian assault she's referring to? >>94000852
I get that story arcs tend to follow a relatively self-contained narrative, but that sort of thing feels like it should be referred to. Or was it not an Ultimate Spiderman event?
Also, why does everyone hate Mutants so much in Ultimates? I can get the hockey race narrative thing in 616, but everyone in this seems to act like a Mutant pissed in their cornflakes that morning?
>>94011766
>Or was it not an Ultimate Spiderman event
I'm pretty sure that was the case. I know he was in the Ultimate Six arc and appeared passingly in a couple comics but I don't consider those true Spider-Man stories so they aren't included.
>>94011766
>Also, why does everyone hate Mutants so much in Ultimates?
Because the citizens of Ultimate are even more insane than those in other versions. I swear every single cop has a shoot first, ask questions later kind of attitude. Also I don't think the general populace really cares about them. If I remember correctly, a Sentinal stepped on a mutant in the first Ultimate X-Men issue and no one gave two shits about it.
>>93999970
>>94000035
Funny to see that Brian Michael Bendis once thought being gay was laughable. I guess this proves that his current SJW ideologies are not really his and he's just pandering to SJWs in hopes that they'll buy comics.
>>94012320
Huh, fair enough. I did wonder for a second if it was referencing the events of the Ultimate Spiderman game where I seem to recall fighting that Beetle guy outside the Latverian Embassy, but that wouldn't make much sense. Would you say any other Ultimate universe stuff is worth reading? I'm mainly a spiderman fan, don't care much for X-men. Is the Ultimates any good?
>>94013629
There's been a few bits over the past days of reading this that I've genuinely thought "it was a different time", but it was just over a decade ago. "The spaz is freakin'!" Time flies eh?
>>94013735
>Is the Ultimates any good?
1 and 2 have characterizations that nag at people sometimes - but they're just solid entertainment.
After that it becomes horrible.
UFF is pretty damn good until the middle of Carey's second run...then gets worse and worse and then dies and then gets trod around like a corpse. The second UFF series under Fialkov was pretty okay though, but was burdened with eye gouging art.
>>94013735
>Ultimate universe stuff is worth reading
Very very debatable depending on who you're talking too. Personally, I'd recommend reading Ultimates 1 + 2 by Millar to wet your feet and see where to go from there. Loeb tried to wipe the slate clean with the event Ultimatum and I would say that's the turning point where the quality takes a tremendous step down. That said, there are still really enjoyable titles that happened after Ultimatum with Ultimate Avengers being one of my favorites because of how batshit insane the series was but that's just me. It might take a bit of scrounging to find the best titles but I feel the Ultimate Universe was a worthy addition to Marvel's lore.
Lastly, I'd recommend Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk. It's not really important with regards to canon but I felt it is a really good example of what makes the Ultimate Universe unique. Many of the stories seem like retreads if prior Marvel comics until many writers flip the stories on there head and subvert the audiences' expectations.
>>94000374
It's pretty crazy that in the end, he pretty much wins.
>>94000899
>"The American government isn't allowed to spy on Americans on American soil. It's against the law".
Boy, do times change.
>>94014048Until Bendis decided to undo Peter's death because he's a fat bastard that doesn't know how to leave something alone.
>>94011766
I think the Latverian assault happened somewhere in Ultimate Marvel Team-Up.
>>94013828
>>94013943
All I know about Ultimates is that Wanda and Quicksilver are fucking and that Thor was in WW2 as well as cap, which seems cool. I'll have a read, thanks guys.
>>94015189
I've been putting it off for a while. Might have to give it a read as well.
>>94016445
HAZAH! I think you're gonna be in for a wild ride. As much as people like to complain about that series, the MCU as it exists now WOULD NOT EXIST without Millar's Ultimates.
>>94016830
I love Ultimate Spider-Man and have read a little bit of Ultimate X-Men. I prefer Ultimate Spider-Man, but I have yet to try Ultimates and Ultimate FF. So, I'll look into those.
>>94016980
I read 10 or so issues of Ultimate FF, but I don't think it released that wide in the UK? We had 9 issues with Victor, the Negative Zone and a badguy there (been a long time and I'm not too up-to-scratch with Fantastic Four baddies), and then it seemed to skip and they fought some sort of Puppet Master in the baxter building and it was drawn like a Horror, and then I couldn't find any more issues? First 9 issues were fun though.
>>94017054
Here's a few places to "end" UFF.
When Ellis leaves + Ultimate Galactus Trilogy
When Millar leaves
Middle of Carey's second run/end of his Thanos myth arc.
After that there's nothing worth reading.
>>94017098
Oh shit. I guess it just didn't get released in the UK or something then. I found absolutely nothing after Puppet Master or whatever that was. Annihulus was the villain I remembered, they fought him on the strip of Vegas. Were there any more Von Doom shenanigans? I quite liked gypsy king, goat legged Victor.
>>94017159
He gets a few more arcs, yeah, but he never does anything substantial.
He gets the most play in Millar's run, but he's more of a plot motivator than anything.
>>94001152
Speaking of which, are there any good Ultimate Hulk comics? I don't think he ever received his own series, did he?
>>94015054
Wait that happens? What did they even do with Ultimate Peter if Miles was around?
>>94010449
I would disagree with you because what he meant was that Peter would be joining the Ultimates when he was older, but by the way he phrased it he really is a dick.
>>94002825
Ultimate Iron Man isn't that bad, though.
>>94003306

>>94017502
I actually really enjoyed the Orson Scott Card series. It was unlike any iteration of Tony we had seen before. But because people weren't quite on board with the design Millar retroactively made that entire series a TV show in the Ultimate Universe.
>>94017879Just some guy in a costume. Chameleon does get his due though later in the series. It definitely takes a while but it was one of teh later stories I enjoyed.
>>94002337

>>94017879
Just some guy.
>>94018642
A lot of the Kingpin stories are solid stuff. Warriors is my personal favorite Kingpin story. I also really enjoy the Hollywood arc. Doc Ock is really menacing there and we get an issue from his perspective.
