Ok, I'd buy that. Would that mean that there are other gems that secrete that stuff for the purpose of making more gems? Do the diamonds? We know that Rose secreted hers with her eyes and Steven's comes out of his mouth. Where does it come out of other gems?

Viruses inject genetic material into cells, which hijacks the cells natural cloning (asexual reproduction) system to create more of the virus.

The gem injectors do the same thing to a planet. They steal nutrients (or energy or whatever) and form new gems as if the planet was one gigantic cell using the natural way that crystals form on planets.

Basically the gem empire acts as a virus. It spreads from planet to planet with the main goal of reproducing itself.

It doesn't. A Ruby that fought in the war thought that Rose's healing abilities were a myth, it's probably unique to Rose and Steven, and not other Rose Quartzes.
