How could you go from this masterpiece...
To this steaming pile of shit?
>>90505972
The writers of the second one were a pair of dumb asses with daddy issues and feminism as their flag cause. They actually think they are more talented than they actually are and when the actual writers of the Creative TEAM (not fucking duo) that did a good job for Atla left, they did the only thing that anyone could have imagined: They ruined everything.

I like Korra but it's the George Lucas problem. They need to work with the right other people. Left unchallenged they fuck stuff up a little too much.
Also it probably doesn't help that the show didn't know how long it was going to be so it kept trying to tie things up and then contrive some way to keep going. If they had known from day one they were getting four seasons it would be much better.Fuck beginnings. It's the midichlorians of Avatar.
One thing i hated about LOK was the Republic City itself. It really felt like a carbon copy of new york or some shit, the only difference being that the skyscrapers had some oriental looking roofs.
Literally no imagination was used to design it
>>90506317
How did Hong Kong looked during the 20's?
>>90505948
>>90505972
Let's remember that Bryke wrote some of the best episodes of the old show.
They can do good stuff (and visually and in other technical aspects Korra was great), but they REALLY need some team to writte with, and avoid some terrible ideas.
>>90506217
At least the Prequels are campy fun, unintentionally chucklesome and gave us some nice shit like the Battlefront games and the Clone Wars cartoons (both of 'em).
All LoK has going for it is the porn, and even that's gone stale since now the only thing anyone draws is Korrasami.
>>90506217
1. Midichlorians aren't the force.
2. The force has been biological since the OT (my father has it i have it my... sister has it)
>>90506477
>Korrasami
This thing even ruined the porn. Fuck, there is nothing left that it's actually good about it.
>>90505948
>>90505972
Jesus. Look at the differences between the cast of the two show.
Zuko: A disgraced prince that trying to regain his father's honor.
Mako: Edgy. He was an orphan but that's almost never addressed.
Sokka: Regardless of his relative powerlessness he's still brave and uses his wits to lead the team.
Bolin: Useless comic relief. Did somethings here and there but over all pointless. Oh yeah he's an orphan too.
Aang: The chosen hero trying to run away from his destiny because of the burden that comes with it.
Korra: "I'M THE AVATAR YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH IT!"
>>90506361
I dont know dude, but you cant deny the simmilarities are striking
>>90506473
It's not really all that surprising though.
In ATLA, they were part of a large creative team of about 20-30 writers and about a dozen animation directors.
The first season of LoK was written entirely by Mike and Bryan, and Bryan has even said that he isn't a natural or comfortable storyteller, he's an art and visuals guy.
It's not as simple as people like to make out, I think LoK was garbage but the fault doesn't lie entirely with Bryke. People like to simplify shit and credit Aaron Ehasz with everything great about ATLA but Bryke were just as involved as Aaron and that overlooks all the great input by people like Giancarlo Volpe, Tim Hedrick, Lauren McMullen, Joaquim dos Santos etc etc.
If the ATLA team was a functioning car, LoK was like stripping away everything but the seats and the wheels and wondering why it didn't run as well.
>>90506655
>Useless comic relief. Did somethings here and there but over all pointless.
Funny thing is that Bolin will be surely remembered as one of the most interesting men that lived on his time.
>champion pro bender
>avatar's close friend
>helped defeat equalism
>helped to defeat Vaatu
>first celebrity and movie star of history
>saved the president
>married a Beifong
>lavabender
>>90506886
>Bolin will be surely remembered as one of the most interesting men that lived on his time
So will Homer Simpson with all the jobs he's had, doesn't mean he's an appropriate major character in an action show.
I also really disliked the way the bending changed in LOK. How the fuck do waterbenders create water out of nothing? And since when can earthbenders just pick up a massive rock and make it float like in S1 E8 during the arrest of the non-benders?
>>90506978
>How the fuck do waterbenders create water out of nothing?
Moisture in the Air, it was in the Puppetmaster episode of ATLA.
>>90507026
Hmhm, i do remember that now. But wasnt that very hard to do? Seems like anyone and everything can do it now
>>90506790
It's Hong Kong, they're even both special administrative zones once belonging to other nations.
>>90506317
>>90506361
>>90506790
You know the similarities were intended, right? Republic City was, by design, an amalgam of New York, Hong Kong and Chicago.
>>90507190
I didnt, but it doesnt change the fact that i dont like it.
>>90507097
Dunno, I don't remember it happening in LoK, if I'm honest but I haven't watched it since it ended.
Lightningbending is usually the go to gripe for that sort of thing.
>>90506655
Mako was the opposite of edgy. He becomes a cop and then bodyguard for a prince
>>90506655
>doesn't even acknowledge Asami
kek
That says it all
>>90507419
Who is that?
>>90506317
Another thing i disliked was how at first the city seemed to be very steampunkish, which i was pretty excited for.
But then they introduced high tech sensors and elevators during the first pro bending scene
>>90505948
>>90505972
holy shit fuck off you stupid fuck
>>90505948
>masterpiece
>>90508137
>he can't accept that LoK was shit
holy shit how are you this easy to bait?
>>90508137
Boy that sure is a great argument as to why LoK is better!
>>90508229
fuck off retard most of you hate it because your headcanon was disproved and you got asshurt the only retards that hate it are you small minority of idiots
>>90508294
why all you are going to do is make a fucking list of autism about how i'm wrong like how you idiots have been doing for years get over it
>>90505948
>>90505972
I rewatched both shows recently and found them both really enjoyable. Outside of some of the second season of Korra, which was no weaker than some of the early parts of Avatar, both hold up fine.
The only people that seem to hate on Korra are people like >>90506129 that can't go 6 seconds without feeling victimized.
>>90508345
>Hurr durr you're an autist get over it
Alright bub, still waiting for that argument
>>90506477
Nah man. Ikki and Jinora porn is still going fairly strong, and that shit is great.
>>90508414
ok go back to arguing about the same shit over and over
>>90508229
How is it bait if you believe it?
>>90505948
Mediocre beginning, stronger end. TLoK is obviously not as good as AtLA but it's not bottom of the barrel garbage. I enjoyed the fights and I listen too some of its soundtrack at night when I go to sleep sometimes. TLoK isn't terrible, it's just average.
>>90505948
>>90505972
They're both bad children's cartoons but at least the second one had two characters daddy can wank to
>>90506655
>Zuko: wah my dad doesn't love me wah
>Aang: wah I didn't do my job and everyone died wah
