Old Man Logan was the inspiration for the latest Wolverine movie, simply titled Logan--you can read our review here. The current ongoing comic series took Logan from his future time period into the present day Marvel Universe. Until now, Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino handled the writing and art. Marvel has revealed to us that Ed Brisson is taking over the writing, with Mike Deodato Jr. providing the art beginning in issue #25. We talked to Brisson to find out what he has planned and how the Maestro fits in.

I like the idea of characters with young children fighting crime. Even if the "oh no my secret identity now my helpless family is in real danger" storyline writes itself I like the dynamic of balancing one right thing to do with another right thing to do. Its normally balancing a personal life thing with an altruistic goal. But with a kid its balancing raising another human being which can be an altruistic goal in of itself, with fighting crime another altruistic goal.

That's always been extremely iffy. Even if we pretend the JSA wasn't a thing, which is lame in and of itself, there's been weird super shit going on since the dawn of time on Earth. The mere existence of multiple panteons of gods alone would make this stuff normal from the outset. And frankly, I ain't exactly sold on all physical evidence of the Amazons being lost before Diana showed up. Especially with Odyssey being a thing. If anything, superheroes should be kinda mundane.

>yeah but do they show up or cameo anywhere after their book got canned?

Not really, because they were wiped out by Grayden (Grayven?) (Darkseid's hip new 90s son) in Kyle Rayner's GL. Possibly as a mean to re-Wonder Donna Troy once John Byrne was gone.

It's the reason why John Stewart spent so much time in a wheelchair in the 90s.

I'm not sure if her Ex is a good guy or not. On one she is annoyingly absent in their kid's life to the point of being neglectful and leaving a powerful weapon laying around did nearly get the poor kid killed. So him being upset is justified there

But at the same time hes kinda a jerk.

hmmm
>>
>>90321595
There is so little fucking value in that entire Teen Titans run.

Kon hanging out with the DnA Legion was fun though.
I am legitimately in favour of DC taking the Young Justice kids and having them join whatever version of the Legion comes next. They are sadly kind of redundant in the present, since they've basically all been replaced with younger versions, and as Legionnaires they could possibly draw in some casuals who need a Batman tax (in the form of Tim)

Moral ambiguity is a rarity in comics but it's done very well here

Tomasi's GLC was pretty good at that. 1-6 pages would be about the humans (Kyle and Guy) doing some stuff, and the rest would be about the other alien teams. They had some pretty good stories in there (like the Daxam arc)

The Legion's unique place in the DCU has always been a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, they get to do their own thing without having to conform with the other books. On the other, casuals never get drawn to them because they lack any of the ridiculously big names that usually draw that crowd in.

I honestly don't know. I'm not used to a cape story that's so, for lack of a better word, gritty.

Kate herself is pretty obviously starting out in such a low place so she can rise up high, but it's leaving feeling a little, I dunno, glum?

Here's the hell of it. When you go and read those stories, like we did, it's actually pretty obvious why they got so popular. Solid, dynamic characterization, compelling storylines, a fleshed out setting, and clever use of what would otherwise be silly powers. These elements made the Legion standout among the crowd, so it's really little wonder they took off like they did.

Sadly, they're unfairly seen as relics of the Silver Age these days, so casuals wouldn't give them a chance unless Batman guest starred, because they'll read anything with the bat logo on it.

I feel like tinkering is a legitimate superpower in so many comics. Like how the hell do so many nobodies without an extensive education have the ability to crap out super tech that puts military hardware to shame?

>I spent 8 years in college and 10 years of development to create this robot that can walk like a human!
>I made this robot by accident out of an RC car and and a TV as a kid with no formal education, it can shoot laserbeams strong enough to hurt superman and fly at mach 10 to evade bullets fired at short range.

>>
>>90323917

>>
>>90324573
Well yes, it might be somewhat entertaining if they shat on the little brat a little, but DC wouldn't dare have their little ubermensch be outclassed by anyone.

We can think about the technical of how it could work all day, but we all know full well that the little shithead would be elected leader in a weak, with everyone sucking his cock the whole way, because he's a fan-ficcy abomination who ruins everything he's in by making it about him.

I liked her paramedic gf. It was a bit on the nose but a good parallel for Mac.

If "America, we have to break up because you have really important things to do and other girls to bang" is the real reasoning given, well. That's in a lot of more masculine ego fantasy stuff and deservedly mocked there. Think of Wheel of Time.

Gillen def doesn't regret it IMO but this sounds like it might out-Gillen Gillen without any of the quality. The college thing doesn't seem like it's being done well. It seems like there's a lot of really blatant shipping/YAASS bait. I've seen a lot of IRL hispanic people get pissed off at the language.

This is what I mean about the cover thing. The covers have such a FEEL of the series that you can point to them as a real emblem of the whole thing, which I only really get from stuff like Preacher more than more modern series. Though Scarlet Witch currently is the same.

The look of the cover isn't directly representative of all the content, but it cuts to the heart of it.
>>
>>90337504
Part of it is probably having one artist with a unique artstyle doing all the covers. A lot of Vertigo books did that, like Preacher and 100 Bullets, though just having similar cover layouts can have the same effect (like Transmet for example)
